Throughout the Civil Rights Movement, many leaders emerged that captured the attention of the American public. During this period, the leaders' used different tactics in order to achieve change. Of two of the better-known leaders, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr., the latter had a more positive influence in the progress of the movement.

Malcolm X and Martin Luther King took the world by storm with their speeches and leadership. The civil rights movement was a major movement in American History. Racial tension was at an all time high in the 1960’s. Two leaders were at the forefront of it all. Those people were Martin Luther King and Malcolm X. Malcolm X took a violence if needed approach, guided by the Muslim belief. On the other hand, Martin Luther King preached peace and nonviolence, while being a very potent christian. Still the question remains. Whose philosophy has been better for America in the 1960’s? I think Malcolm X’s philosophy has been better for America. His philosophy has been better because he was a realist, he wanted all rights for everyone, including education, and thought people should work and communicate within your own communities.

Martin Luther King and Malcolm x were both advocates for racism and had the same goals for their fellow negroes. They both fought for freedom, for their fellow black people to come together and fight, and for the future generation to have a brighter future. However, even with the same goals, their thoughts on how to gain it was very different. While MLK wanted to do it in a very peaceful manner, Malcolm X wanted it to happen in a very hostile manner. Also, MLK wanted everyone from gay, Muslims, and black to work together to achieve the big goal of ending racism but, Malcolm X wanted divisions to happen between all sorts of people. Therefore, supporting MLK seems more reasonable than supporting Malcolm X.

During the Civil Rights movement, two leaders stood out from the rest. These two men were Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. Although they were fighting for the same ideal, Martin luther king and Malcolm X had very different ways to achieve civil rights for all. These men were extremely powerful and they brought hope to people in their communities and African Americans across the United States. Both of these men preached the same message about equality for Blacks but their approaches were different and in a sense, conflicting. One way the Civil Rights movement helped black people was by giving them equal rights for them. Another reason was because Malcolm X was a realist which means that he sees things from his perspective. Martin Luther King Jr. is a very loyal and true to himself man in all kinds or ways.
