Choosing the Path, Hoosiers vs. Buckeyes
Choosing a college as a future student is a difficult process for some. There are certain qualities that must meet every student’s needs. For example, how far away from home is it or how big of a school it is. Many colleges are more similar than most know. While differences can be found between colleges, similarities can be found between Indiana University, Bloomington (IU) and The Ohio State University (OSU).
The degree offerings are alike at Indiana University and The Ohio State University. But one difference between the two colleges, is the number of academic programs offered. IU offers more than 550 academic programs (Indiana University, Bloomington). Ohio State offers more than 200 majors (The Ohio State University). A similarity between the two has to do with the types of degrees offered. When a student first enters into any college, he is considered an undergraduate. Indiana offers certificate, associate, bachelor's, master’s, and doctoral degrees (“Indiana University, Bloomington”; Big

Each college has job-placement opportunities, but are offered through different organizations. Job-placements through Indiana University are offered through the Career Development Center and Arts and Sciences Career Services. (Indiana University, Bloomington). Job-placements through The Ohio State University are offered through the Department of Arts Administration (The Ohio State University). The two colleges require just about the same things when they offer job-placement opportunities. At Indiana, an undergrad must attend career fairs and have some job experience like internships (Indiana University, Bloomington). At Ohio State, they must attend career fairs, job fairs, and have internships (The Ohio State University). Ultimately, Indiana University would win this category because it offers more programs through job-placement
Some people prefer large schools and others prefer small schools. Iowa State has a total enrollment of about “32,900 students”(“Iowa…”). Iowa only has a total enrollment of “29,750 students” (“Iowa…”). That is a difference of 3,200 students. Every year there are about “5,350 freshmen coming in to Iowa State” (“Iowa…”), Iowa only has “4,450 freshmen coming in” (“Iowa…”) making Iowa State a little bit bigger than Iowa. Since Iowa State is a larger school there is a higher student to faculty ratio with “19-1” (“Iowa…”). Iowa has a lower student to faculty ratio which is “16-1” (“Iowa…”). Class sizes also differ at these two schools. Iowa State is “40 or more students per class” (“Iowa…”), which is much bigger than Iowa’s which is “10-19 students per
In the story “Buckeyes” by Pinckney Benedict the story follows Goody Pettus a young boy who goes from someone who frequently listens to his dad's stories completely oblivious to the horrific hidden meanings of which they hold, to a boy shocked by the sudden knowledge of the truth in his dad's words and having the ability to recognize things for what they really are. After having travelled to one of the newest attractions from his dad's latest story about a deceased family at the bottom of a cliff still in their car, he begins to see things for what they really are. Seeing the actual deceased family in the car prompted Goody to rethink the story's he had heard from his dad, causing him to discover the hidden meanings behind them, helping him to truly realize the dire things his dad had said to him in the past. This helps to reveal
All colleges/universities have things in common as well as individual differences which make them all unique in their own way. School preference is based upon each person’s own goals, dreams, and aspirations. Two schools that can be compared are Massasoit Community College and ITT Technical Institute. Before examining the two schools to determine which is the better investment, a brief history of each is outlined to give the reader the advantage of knowing their subjects of comparison before drawing a conclusion. Although there are an abundance of colleges for students to attend, the selection that is subject to comparison is based upon personal experience attending both colleges. The information described is from external resources, such as each college’s Course Catalogs and from personal experience attending the school[s].
Life is full of choices. Everyday people are forced to make choices: waffles or pancakes? Jeans or leggings? Most of these choices are trivial, but the few that are important affect your life in the long run. Your major or college you choose is one of those choices.
In my paper I will discuss the different staff, facilities, and programs that both of the universities have. Both schools are great school, but each has very different Rec Sports and facilities. Just by looking at the pictures from both facilities, I would say that they are really nice and up to date. So I will compare and contrast Texas A&M to Ohio State University.
As a senior in high school the time has come when people begin to ask big and sometimes overwhelming questions like, “Where are you going to college?” and “What will be your major?” These questions, of course, lead to college visits and decisions. The two colleges that seem to meet my criteria are The University of Findlay and Ohio Dominican University. Both colleges have positive aspects, such as having the major that I am interested in as well as being close to family. However, The University of Findlay seems to be a better fit than Ohio Dominican because it is closer to home and I am familiar with the campus and I grew up on this campus.
It has been called the greatest and oldest rivalry in NCAA history We know that there are just things that don’t go together.Ohio state and Michigan are the same way.They hate each other equally,but they both show the same amount of respect.As some people from both teams have said that this is the most important game of the season.Even if you don’t have a perfect record.This game means everything to these schools.
The decision making process on what college to attend can be stressful. For some, the deciding factor can be where they get the better offer for sports, such as Butler Community College, or where is closer to home, like Wichita State University. When the time comes to have this tough, and extremely long, process come into play, look at the pros and cons of the college choices and how each one can benefit life after college. What institution can you get out of as much as you put in? Which college has the degree completion plan you are wanting to pursue? These questions weighs in all incoming college students minds who strive for that goal of success that is a college degree. Despite bearing some minor similarities, the differences
College is a critical time in a young adult’s life. Whether classes make a student realize his or her major isn’t right for him or her or college helps him or her get closer to his or her career, college plays a massive role in helping people. When making a decision on which college to attend, all aspects of each college should be taken into consideration. Some of the most important features of a school are the location, class size, and tuition. Lewis and Clark Community College and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville are colleges local to people in the Madison County. Lewis and Clark is a less expensive community college with a small student body who only offer Associate degrees to their students. On the other hand, SIUE (Southern Illinois
Football is a very popular sport. For a lot of football fans, football is their whole weekend. College football on Saturday and the NFL on Sunday. Most football lovers have a day that they prefer, some choosing college football, while others choose the NFL. People choose favorites for a variety of reasons. This essay will point out the similarities and differences of college football and the NFL.
The obvious difference is one has only seniors with open campus, and the other adds in juniors to the mix. With the first option being only seniors, the parking lots will not be as crowded getting off of the campus as it would be if both the junior and senior classes leave for lunch. The second difference between the two options is how many years the classes have worked for the same privileges. While both classes work hard over the years of schooling, the seniors have had an extra year to work towards the goal of open campus that the juniors behind them would get a year
Although they are both a lot alike, there are many differentials of the two. Universities are known for having large campuses;
Indiana University is one of the only colleges that I desire to go to in Indiana. When I first drove up to IU though, I didn’t know what to expect, but when I got there I saw that the property was breath taking. Before going to IU, all other campuses seemed dull and not right for me, but the area was truly one in a million, and I fell in love. The person that also walked me around IU’s trail was hilarious, and he easily explained to me the interesting facts about the campus. Stories about how IU accidently got Purdue’s bricks, shaking the hand of Herman B Wells, and also kissing your loved one under the Rose Well House at midnight. The quaint feeling that IU gave off was homey and it felt like a community.
As a high school senior, I spent all year searching for a compatible college that fits my requirements. I wanted a college that is affordable, so when I graduate I am not stuck with a massive debt. I wanted a campus that is has friendly people and feels like home. Finally, the college must provide me with the right skills to start my career. With those three standards in mind, I narrowed my choices to one perfect college.
The reputation of institutions was very important during the selection process. I did not want to go to a place that would not help my future substantially. During the second half of my senior year in high school, I had the opportunity to work alongside a Washington Post reporter and investigate for a story he was writing about my high school. I had taken journalism classes all throughout high school but this experience gave me the passion to want to
