Ben Carson and Hillary Clinton: A look at America’s future The nebulous cycle that is American politics has once again gripped Americans in the form of the 2016 presidential race. Soon annoying campaign ads will illustrate one candidate as America’s messiah, while the other is the devil incarnate. Currently, the two front-runners that seek to fill the void in the White House are Hillary Clinton, a democrat, and Ben Carson, a republican. Both candidates seek to revive America, but they hold different stances on gun control, healthcare, and tax plans. During this period, America turns into a circus of donkeys and elephants draped in red and blue, the ability to strip away the layers of counterfeit appearances are key to picking the wholesome …show more content…
When asked about his stance on gun control, Ben Carson said, "I would never advocate anything to interfere with Second Amendment rights; however, we have to keep in mind that law-abiding American citizens absolutely should have gun rights." In a recent interview with CNN host Wolf Blitzer, Carson related recent pushes for gun control to gun restriction that left Jews vulnerable in the 1930s prior to the Holocaust that consumed at least six million lives. In contrast, Hillary Clinton’s standpoint is that the availability of firearms should be under tight control, creating a national firearm registration of all firearms, increasing penalties for gun related crimes, and “making the gun industry liable” by taking away the Protection in Lawful Commerce in Arms Act. During a recent Democratic debate, Clinton stated the she was happy to make the NRA her enemy because the National Rifle Association has fought against legislation that Clinton vehemently supported. This divide between Carson and Hillary grows wider with the issue of health
Presidential elections have existed in the United States for almost as long as the nation itself. Our first President, President George Washington, won the first presidential election in 1789. Although the voting process has been modified tremendously since the first election, the electoral college system remains our country’s way of collecting the nations votes. In this upcoming 2016 presidential election, I will practice my right as a United States citizen to vote. I have done extensive research on a couple of candidates and feel confident in my knowledge on their views on important issues that have been addressed in our country. The purpose of this paper is to compare presidential candidates, Ben Carson and
As stated above both Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump think they are the best candidate for the presidency. They both have very different views on taxes, immigration and abortion. The views they have and decisions they make will affect this country, whether it is good or bad depends on your position. In the end the voters will determine who is the best candidate and the right choice for this
There are many candidates for the 2016 Presidential election. Two candidates are Ben Carson and Mike Huckabee. They are both republican and both share about the same views on things such as education, healthcare, and the Second Amendment.
There are currently fourteen candidates seeking the republican nomination for the 2016 presidential election. Among them are two front runners Mr. Donald Trump and Dr. Ben Carson. These candidates have both been running for several months now. They have topped many polls in the last few months and sustained a large lead from all other candidates. These two candidates have some similarities and viewpoints, but differ greatly as well.
In a little over one year the people of the United States will elect a new president into office. There are over twenty candidates currently campaigning for the position. Hilary Clinton, Jeb Bush, Donald Trump, and Dr. Ben Carson are four I have mainly heard mentioned. Making a decision on who I would want in office has actually not been that difficult. I first narrowed it down between Dr. Ben Carson and Donald Trump. These two candidates are similar in ways but also very different. I personally believe that Dr. Ben Carson is a profound genius. Donald Trump is an intelligent man, but is nothing compared to Dr. Ben Carson. When it comes to speaking the mind Donald Trump gives no filter. Dr. Carson speaks his mind also but does it in a more intelligent meaningful softer way. There are three things that concern me when deciding on who the next president should be. Health care, abortion, and religion are three issues I believe need to be addressed when running for president. After much research on both Dr. Ben Carson and Donald Trump, I was able to make the decision that I believe Dr. Carson is exactly what the United States needs as the next
This years presidential election might be the closest in US history! Donald Trump is the Republican candidate. He received 13.3 million votes in the primary election. Hillary Clinton is the Democratic candidate. She received 15.6 million votes in the primary election. This presidential election is very close in votes and either way could cause doom for America.
The second amendment was established by our founding fathers for a reason. Our own safety and protection by use of firearms is our right as citizens of the United States of America. The right to bear arms is one of the characteristics that make America great. Some of the other presidential candidates are wanting to take that freedom away from the public. Ben Carson is not one of those ignorant candidates. Protecting this amendment is very important to him. The second amendment will not be messed with under Carson’s
This, it seems, is the year of the anti-politician as far as the Republican Party is concerned. As election year rapidly approaches some of the top GOP Presidential candidates are non-politicians. The anti-establishment rhetoric is only increasing as the regular Republican voter is fed up with the path of the party, which is leading to lifetime politicians falling further behind in the polls. Two candidates in particular who have never held political office are leading one Monmouth University poll released on September 3, 2015. This poll, which was conducted nationwide, has Donald Trump leading the rest of the GOP candidates with 33% of the vote while Ben Carson is second with 18%. (MLA) Although Trump and Carson agree on some of the lingering
Bill O’Reilly could not have summed the republican and democratic parties any better, “Conservatives tend to see the world in black and white terms, good and evil. Liberals see grays.” But one needs first to understand what a republican and a democrat is. Merriam-Webster best defines a republican as “one that favors or supports a republican form of government,” while a democrat supports a democracy and social equality. Both parties seek ways to better this nation; however, conflict arises as they have different ways of accomplishing these goals. These two parties struggle to find common ground and differ greatly on many ideals such as economic policies, military expenditures, and social issues. Although republicans and democrats hold similar views on national defense, it is often overlooked and overshadowed by their vast differences in economic ideals and social ideologies.
As the 2016 Presidential Election starts to close in on the primaries, we are now beginning to see the front-runners in both political parties. Donald Trump, who has been far ahead of the other Republican candidates almost the entire race, seems more and more likely to snag the Republican nominee, while Bernie Sanders has continued to climb in the polls on the Democratic side. Whether the next President is going to be Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders, or another candidate, it is inevitable that they will have to come up with a plan for gun control, health care, and have a foreign policy that can deal with the problems we face today. As Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders both represent different parties, some of their ideas still overlap one
Clinton, opposes gun control laws because it terrorizes people. “We cannot let a minority of people, and that’s what it is, it is a minority of people, hold a viewpoint that terrorizes the majority of people,” Clinton said during a live CNN town hall. (Miller). Sanders is neutral about the gun laws. He voted against decreasing gun waiting period from 3 days to 1 day, but voted yes on allowing guns in checked baggage (“Bernie Sanders on Gun Control”). Trump feels it is alright to have guns because in case the government requested people to turn in their guns only the good citizens would abide while criminals would not and this would leave the good citizens unprotected (“Donald Trump on Gun Control”). Carson, is in support of law abiding citizens having a right to carry guns, but is not in favor of semi-automatic weapons in the city (“Ben Carson on Gun Control”). While all these presidential candidates have valid points, I agree with Hilary Clinton. There should be limited rights to ownership of guns. It is not safe for people to carry guns everywhere. Carrying guns, especially in schools would create a lot of fear
*How did the Childhood, Education, and life experiences impact who Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Donald Trump would become.
Currently, the Presidency of the United States is coming close to the final and whoever gets elected president is an accomplished liar. Both of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are using the political skills to argue because their major party candidates for president have to appear to be fully qualified to occupy the Oval Office. After watching of these videos of both Hillary and Trump’s speech, in my opinion, I analyze three types of informal fallacies from their speeches such as argument against the person, hasty generalization, and appeal to people; especially, appeal to vanity.
Dr. Ben Carson is a candidate with unusual roots that are far removed from the usual candidate’s political or military experience. Carson grew up as a poor, African
