Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather was the best fight I have ever witnessed. My neighbors invited me over their house to watch the fight. I was so ready to watch the fight; history was happening right in front of my eyes. This has never happened in the the world of boxing. The best MMA fighter, fighting the guy maybe known as the best ever to box. I got goosebumps just watching them walk up to the ring. I just couldn’t believe this was actually happening; I’m watching history. I was watching the fight at my next door neighbors. They are the definition of hipster; they’re hipsters on steroids. I definitely stood out. They’re the best people to watch fight with, they were so passionate about it that they made the fight way better. All the
fighter is placed in a position, from which he cannot escape. The fighter can tap-out when he cannot escape from a submission or when he can no longer defend himself. Having learned the many ways to win in MMA it is now important to learn the roots of the sport.
Was there one time in your life where you felt strong and then lost hope and became weak? Well in the story The Fight By Adam Bagdasarian there is a boy who was very cocky and got into a fight. Elliott J. Gorn’s The Manly Art is a unique book that tells readers the origins of boxing in American culture. The book was published in 1986 by Cornell University Press, the book discussed the development of boxing and American society. Gorn takes sport history, a commonly misunderstood and misinterpreted topic and wrote a book that not only was easy to read but allowed readers to gain knowledge on the sport. Gorn says “To understand prize fighting, I have discovered, is necessarily to understand something about nineteenth-century America. Ideology, ethnicity, social class formation, violence, urbanization, gender roles, religious world views, productive relationships, all are a part of sports history in general and boxing in particular.” (Gorn, pg. 12)
When we finally got to the fight, they weighed me in and my coach told me to start putting on my boxing gear. I wore black trunks with a red flame going down the right leg and an black tank top. After I put on my gear I started to wait till it was my turn to fight. I started to eat some cashews, but I was too nervous to eat. After a while, it was finally my turn to fight my coach wrapped my hands up and warmed me up. My coach and I started heading towards the ring so I could fight. When the bell rung, I rushed towards my opponent and started throwing all the combinations I knew. By the time that I knew, the fight was over in the first 55 second in the first round. I shook my opponent’s hand and his coach’s hand. I was so happy I won and got a trophy my dad was so proud of me.
Robert Wagner once said, “A dog will teach you unconditional love. If you can have that in your life, things won’t be too bad.” Both Jack Russells and Boxers are dogs with big hearts full of love. Jack Russells weigh about 10 to 12 pounds, and live 13 to 15 years. Boxers on the other hand, are 60 to 70 pounds and live 10 to 12 years.
Imagine the adrenaline one receives when getting prepared to fight in a boxing match. They strut to the mat and can hear the crowd vigorously yelling and screaming. The bell rings and the two begin punching. One severe punch is thrown at the opponent’s head and the person immediately falls to the mat. The crowd goes wild and the coaches and trainers all run out to the mat to check on the man down. The person gets back up and will try to fight until a victory is resolved. However, this particular match, the same person is hit once again and falls down. The match is over and the winner is announced. Doctors check the athlete and it appears as if he is speechless. Minutes pass and finally they can get a response. He does not remember
Prior to an individual being classified as an ex-offender, they are first classified as an offender; before this classification takes place, the individual is what the criminal justice system calls a defendant; before this particular person is trialed, they must first go through the ladder of the system. Perhaps they started simply as a suspect product of an arrest or an investigation (Samaha, 9). Like with many things in life, numerous people try to find excuses; in sports you always hear a boxer say he lost because he didn’t have a good training camp, or the baseball player saying that his wrist hurts and that is why he was not able to hit the ball. Barely, however, do we hear people tell the actual truth about what really happened; take the examples of the boxer and the baseball player, it is quite strange to hear them say “my opponent just outclassed me”, or “he is a very good pitcher, one which possesses a strong fast ball”. In some cases within the criminal justice system is the same exact way; though some do, many defendants will try to claim a reasonable and legitimate excuse for the crime they have committed and are being trialed for. In his book Criminal Justice seventh edition, Joel Samaha expresses his beliefs on what it means to give an excuse for someone’s imperfections or imperfect acts; nothing but “excuses, excuses, excuses, criminal law doesn’t like them”(Samaha, 116).
The viewers are the main encouragement for boxers to keep fighting or to fight harder. “They don’t come out to see a tee party,” said Mike Jacobs evenly. “They come out to see the knockout. They come out to see a man hurt. If they think anything else, they’re kidding themselves” (qtd. in
Evelyn talks to Tobias about joining all of the factionless people to start a war against Jeanine Matthews; to kill Jeanine Mathews (108). Tris decides to go to the Erudite faction to participate in Jeanine Matthews experiment (260). Tris risks her life by participating in the experiment only to end the killings everyday by Jeanine Matthews.
Floyd Mayweather stepped up and accepted Conor McGregor’s challenge to box in a ring after months and months of trash talk and build up towards the so called unscheduled fight. This all started when Conor McGregor was on the Conan O’Brian show and was asked if he would box Floyd Mayweather on live TV, he then said he’d take on that
Gwendolyn Brooks' "First fight. Then Fiddle." initially seems to argue for the necessity of brutal war in order to create a space for the pursuit of beautiful art. The poem is more complex, however, because it also implies both that war cannot protect art and that art should not justify war. Yet if Brooks seems, paradoxically, to argue against art within a work of art, she does so in order create an artwork that by its very recognition of art's costs would justify itself.
Mayweather spoke on the differences between MMA fighter Ronda Rousey and Boxer Laila Ali. Saying that the media isn’t being heard about Ali’s success as an undefeated boxer but are constantly talking about Rousey’s during her undefeated streak. Saying that, “Laila Ali did the same thing but in a better fashion. Ronda Rousey, she’s a good looking women when she put it on. Laila Ali is a drop-dead gorgeous woman; i mean a naturally beautiful woman and can kick ass, but you never hear them (the media) saying when she had i think somewhere around 10,11,12 fights the she was the baddest women to ever fight on the planet”. Floyd also had a comment on himself trash talking compared to the trash talking of MMA fighter Conor McGregor. “They say he talk a lot of trash and people praise him of it, but when i did it, they say i’m cocky and
* If you’re like me in high school I loved watching a good fight happen right in front of me.
Boxing, also known as pugilism, is a very old and famous type of combat sport which was invented few centuries BC. It is an ever-changing sport which develops into different styles through time and it is regarded as one of the most popular and exciting types of sports nowadays. Some people make it their profession and fight for prizes, and money while some enjoy it as a hobby and a way to be physically active and have a healthy lifestyle. As it is a very entertaining kind of sport and it is part of the Olympic Games, the sport has garnered many fans worldwide. A lot of people prefer watching it and following championships and different athletes.
People have been beating the shit out of each other for sport since the dawn of man. In America it seems that generally people really enjoy a good fight whether it’s a controlled fight that they paid to see or two people got rowdy in a bar. I get why people are into mixed martial arts or just martial arts in general. It teaches you discipline and respect for knowing how to use your body as a weapon. With my limited knowledge of the MMA, it seems like a lot of fighters are pretty level headed guys no matter how many punches they take to the face. I get it, it’s great fun to to rough house with a friend, but I really don’t see the point of fighting just to be a violent asshole. I get doing it for sport, because it’s two hopefully sober people who agreed to fight each other where as that might not be the case in a street fight. Now I’ve never met a professional cage fighter before but I have had a few chats with amateur ones and it was interested to say the least.
