Since 1856, the two major political parties in the United States have been the Republicans and Democrats. They have immersed themselves into US politics since the 19th century and have always dominated all secondary parties in America, resulting in formation of the America’s two-party political system. The Democrats and Republicans may have different ideologies on a plethora of issues but their core beliefs are forever intertwined. The Republicans’ core belief is that they “believe that each person is responsible for his or her own place in society. Democrats are “left-leaning” or a liberal party and Republicans are “right-leaning” or a conservative party. Left leaning party supports social equality by distributing political power to the people, while the right leaning party favors centralizing political power in the hands of the leaders of government. The Democratic Party’s philosophy lies within positive rights and the notion that people are entitled to certain benefits, and that government is obliged to institute the conditions in which people can achieve these benefits. According to Democrats.org, they believe that it is the government’s responsibility to make sure businesses and other institutions serve the interest of the people. This is the reason why Democratic platform wants higher corporate taxes and increase in minimum wage. An example would be Franklin Roosevelt’s new deal policies of unprecedented government involvement in the economy, which led to “modern Democratic Party” platform (“principles”). Democrats fully support individualism to which people are entitled to lead a chosen lifestyle without regards for traditional social norms (“philosophy”). The Republican Party’s philosophy is that Americans should desire for peace and freedom with spreading human rights, while preserving their ideals of national strength and pride. They claim that their party’s platform is based upon the founders of the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
In the past, the Democratic party was known as the conservative, traditional party that fully supported state government while the Republican party was a supporter of the federal government control. The Republican party began as “Lincoln’s party” which caught the attention and support of the colored voters. In contrast, the Democratic party was predominantly white during this time with ideas to keep the rights of the state and the traditions of the South. Though these two parties have opposing views, they began to clash and redirect their beliefs. Over time the two main political parties have changed their platforms based on the issues of desegregation, racism in the South and placement of federal government.
One significant issue in the Republican Party is Audit in the Federal Reserve. The Republican Party supports it because the Federal Reserve's monetary policy actions affect both inflation and economic activity, which should be transparent. One significant issue in the Democratic Party is outsourcing healthcare. Democrats believe that the government should take care of all its people's health care (Eleanor, 2015).
There are a few differences and similarities between democrats and republicans. Democrats believe that the economy is too complicated for individuals to navigate alone and believe that business decisions should be guided by government officials and in the best interest of labor unions. Republicans believe free enterprise has brought economic growth and innovations that have made this country great. They also believe Government should help stimulate a business environment where people are free to use their talents. There are also ways they are similar. They both support endless war and ignore basic rights, they both care more about their own power, and they are bought and paid for by big businesses.
“For more than 200 years, our party has led the fight for civil rights, health care, Social Security, workers' rights, and women's rights”(Democrats.org). Democrats tend to lead more for bigger government. Many Democrats believe in a loose interpretation of the constitution and based their beliefs of of President Jackson. People who favor the Democratic party tend to be more liberal.
The two party system is a system where there are only two options to vote for because only parties with a lot of people have a chance to be noticed, other parties have too few people to get a chance to win the election. Nowadays the two parties most people vote for are the Democrat party and the Republican party. The Republicans ideology is American conservatism, which involves support of free market capitalism, free enterprise, a strong national defense, and de-regulation and restrictions on labor unions. The Democrats ideology is mostly centrists an progressives, whose philosophy is of modern liberalism which advocates social and
Government has been a paramount piece of the United States’s development after July 4, 1776. The role of government has been pivotal to the process of how America operates today. Government is an important part of America’s society because it protects individual rights of people. Government is a forever changing entity because it is a necessity to satisfy the people’s demands. As a political party, Democrats and Republicans have many views on different topics in America. Although the Democrats and Republicans may have different stances on modern issues in America, many of these politicians seem to have the same attitude toward changing policies on these issues/government. I believe that the democratic party is more appropriate party to represent the United States because of their philosophy. The traditional values of America needs to be altered and the democratic party represents the change that America needs. The democratic party best represents an ever-changing society by exemplifying the desires of the citizens as is apparent in their policies in regards to abortion, gun control, and same-sex marriage.
Views between the two major parties of government in the United States have many differences and few similarities. The Republican side of government tends to be more conservative and more for the people’s freedoms. They also support government intervention only when necessary. The Democratic side of government tends to be more liberal and support heavy government intervention. Views between abortion, gay marriage, and many other controversial topics differ greatly between the Democratic and Republican Party.
The Republican Party’s beliefs are far vaguer and broad than the Democratic Party’s. The Republican Party has a list about 11 core principles they follow whereas the Democratic Party has 9 points that go into much detail. The Republican Party believes in sticking true to the Constitution, whatever power the Constitution gives the government is the amount of power they should have and valuing human life. The Democratic Party’s preamble does not mention anything about sticking true to the Constitution or preserving human life. But they do talk about equal opportunity for everyone, allowing people to have access to affordable health care, a good job, a good home, have clean air to breath, clean water to drink. The Democratic Party also emphasizes that people who work in a business are just as important as those who own it, workers should be paid a wage that they can survive off of, taxes should be taken fairly, and that the government should not favor corporations who have are not practicing fairly by keeping their money abroad, mistreating their workers and mistreating the
America also has not agreed on the government’s budget and economy. The debate is whether government funds should be focused more on programs for the society or a military. The Democratic Party opposes the large amount spent on military. They believe a massive amount of money is required for the government to provide a happy, healthy, shameless, and exciting society for everyone. The programs of society are more important to them than all the money spent on our military. According to them, a huge government staff is necessary to ensure that each and every citizen is doing what they are supposed to be doing. They believe penalizing peoples achievements by high taxes, increased government bureaucracy, and spending will lead everyone to prosperity. The Republican Party would like to cut back on government spending, especially in social, environmental, and health programs. They think we should reduce government programs and increase community programs. National Defense is a priority to republicans, which requires a military budget far greater than previous budgets in any of the major wars. In their view, a military government must remain strong, regardless of the price. Republicans believe that high taxes, runaway
Republicans want to limit the number of social programs and encourage the individual states to be more active in their own social welfare. Democrats feel that more government is better, where the Republicans feel that the individual states should have more power. Democrats favor gun control legislation most of the time. Republicans do not seem as interested in that issue, and many Republicans can be viewed as pro gun advocates. Democrats favor affirmative action for minorities and women. Republicans favor helping the entrepreneur and tend to give tax breaks to big business. Democrats champion the cause of labor unions, while Republicans realizing that union votes are important, at the same time feel that labor unions have too much power and cost big business too much money. The next set of political differences about the issues of capital punishment and abortion rights are quite paradoxical. Democrats favor a woman’s right to choose, at the same time they are against the death penalty and want to rehabilitate prisoners. Republicans, many of them are pro-life as well as in favor of capital punishment and being tough on crime. Democrats want the government to be more involved in public education, and want more money dispersed for student loans. Republicans want the states to take the responsibility for educating their children and also want to provide vouchers as an alternative to public school. This issue is also tied to how Republicans are
Democrats and Republicans have formed the political scene in the U.S. all through history. Both sides plan to do what is best for the American individuals however unfathomably contrast in rationality and beliefs. Democrats have been by and large seen as supporters of social administrations while Republicans energize a constrained government impact and a powerful outside strategy. Moreover, Democrats have a tendency to incline towards an ACTIVE government with the conviction of enhancing the open door and balance. In the mean time, Republicans have a tendency to be more determined about being ace business and more independent.

Democrats express that the values America supports must evolve over time, and therefore tend to support controversial issues such same-sex marriage and abortion. Republicans values tend to be religious in nature which means Republicans will most likely disapprove of abortions for any reason and disagree with same-sex marriage.
