All around the world there are billions of people who practice whatever religion they support. Today i am here to talk about a couple of religions which are called Christianity and Hinduism. I will talk about their origins, there beliefs, and how it has impacted the community around it.
My first religion will be one of the most popular religions that are used today due to its number of followers is christianity. This is a monotheistic religion, meaning that its people only believe in one god. It was developed from Judaism but has a few differences in its teachings. It was developed in Judea which is now known as Israel in the middle east next to the mediterranean sea.. It was founded by jesus of nazareth and his disciples who helped him spread his teachings in the year 30 CE. One of their beliefs is that there is only one god and only one. As you saw earlier that is called a monotheistic religion. They were taught to call him father due to jesus christ teachings. Jesus is god's son. He was sent down from above to save mankind from death and sin. In other words he was sent to fulfil god's job, not teach it. Another one of their beliefs is what happens to them after they die. They believe that they either go to heaven or hell. They believe that even though they are buried or cremated That there soul can still live on and be brought up into a new life with god. They believe that this is possible because three days after jesus died he arose from the ground and they
salvation. They believe that he has died for their sins, therefore saving the Christian people.
Both of the religions Hinduism and Judaism are similar but different in their own ways. Hinduism worships many gods and goddesses, whereas Judaism is a confirmedly monotheistic religion. In the Hinduism religion the bedrock is the belief that the Vedas is sacred and the caste system decribed in it. “Hinduism is a guide to life, and the goal of which is to reach union with Brahman, the unchanging ultimate reality”(75). The dharma or moral law that need to be followed. There are many gods that were worshiped and each person may worship a different god. Images of the gods in homes or temples were presented where each person can show devotion to their personal gods by singing hymns or offering flowers before the images. The Hindus believe in many things such as that the universe undergoes and endless cycle of creation, believe in karma, that the soul reincarnates, the belief that all life is sacred.
Hinduism and Buddhism are among the oldest traditions in the world. Incidentally, both traditions have their roots in India. Since their beginning, both traditions have co-existed peacefully and even spread beyond India in similar patterns. Most people have scattered information about the traditions and make assumptions that they are similar. However, they also have clear distinguishing features. This paper intends to study the similarities and contrasts between the two traditions in various contexts. First, the traditions will be compared and contrasted based on how they began. The development processes of both religions will then be contrasted. The paper will then discuss the similarities and differences between the two religions based on the social and the political roles they played.
Hinduism and Christianity are two religions that have been around for thousands of years. These religions have developed philosophies on certain subjects that can be compared in order to show their similarities and differences. Some of the main subjects that can be reflected upon are the paths to
In the past few weeks of class we talked about so many different religions around the world. Three religions we discuss in class were Hinduism, Buddhism, and Christianity. These are three of the major religions in the world that still exist today. I will be focusing on how all three religions started, and I will compare and contrast Hinduism and Buddhism. Then at the end, I will discuss on how I feel about the three different religions.
Religion is one of the oldest and most sacred traditions of the human species. Religion started off as a basic belief in an afterlife, and then further developed into tribal religions, which evolved into ancestral worship, then to polytheism, and lastly into monotheism. Monotheism in the form of Christianity is the largest religion of the modern world, and it has similar beliefs to other world religions such as Buddhism. Christianity and Buddhism are similar because both religions teach about the equality of people and that making good choices reflects the positive teachings of that religion. They are also similar in how they formed, as both broke off from another religion that was exclusive, and both became popular and spread easily
What does this religion teach about “what comes next” after all is said and done? In what do adherents of this religion place their hope for any future life or existence? Describe the impact this belief or non-belief impacts the person daily life and the structures of society. With such a view of the after-life, what type of societal structures or institutions would we expect to develop in the
By the divine right of kings, monarchs with blessed blood hold the right to complete reverence and subservience from their subjects. In the time of William Shakespeare, and for hundreds of years before, European monarchs justified their absolutist rules by reasoning God placed their bloodline on the throne. Encyclopedia Britannica states that, in 1603, the art-loving James VI of Scotland succeeded to the English throne (Mathew); according to Shakespeare Online, he brought Shakespeare’s acting troupe, the Chamberlain's Men, under his patronage and renamed them the King’s men (Mabillar 2000). Three years later in 1606, Shakespeare’s tragedy, Macbeth, released. Macbeth takes place in Shakespeare’s version of monarchical eleventh century Scotland.
This is the foundational belief to their group members, to me. It is one that goes down to the core of their practices, seemingly validated by God. No matter the groups practices, each believe in such superiority granted to them by nature. Bringing me to the to their next belief.
Religion is the belief and worship of a higher power which is in control of the universe. The most popular religions in the world today are Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism. All four of these religions teach peace. However, followers do not always get along with each other peacefully. All of these religions have a moral code to live by and encourage devotion and prayer.
They believe in the Holy Trinity comprising of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Father is the Godhead trinity, Jesus came to earth to save man and was fully God and fully man. The Holy Spirit was given to man as a gift from God to help guide man and empower the Church. Orthodox Christians believe in sin and salvation. Sin separates us from God. The Orthodox confess their sins before God and man. Salvation is a divine gift, and there are three steps to attaining salvation. Firstly, the sinner must repent, then he must be baptized, and finally the person will receive the Holy Spirit through baptism. The Orthodox believe that the Bible is the divinely inspired word of God. They follow the BIble and believe it to be God’s self-revelation to man. Mary and the Communion of Saints also play a role in Orthodox beliefs. They honor Mary as the mother of God and ask for her intercession to God. They believe the Saints are alive in God and that we will one day join them in worshiping God. The second coming of Jesus is another central belief. They trust that he will come again to judge the living and the dea, but no one knows when this day will come. The final central belief of the Orthodox Church is the belief in heaven and hell. They believe hell to be a place of eternal torment for those who willfully reject God, and they regard heaven as a perfect place of worship for those who choose to follow God.
Religion can be explained as a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs (n.d.). Christianity is most popular religion in America and in the world with over 2.1 billion adheres. It is based on the teachings of Jesus Christ who lives in the Holy Land 2,000 years ago. Hinduism is the religion of the majority of people in India and Nepal. It also exists among significant populations outside of the sub continent and has over 900 million adherents worldwide.
Unlike Islam and Christianity who are monotheistic in that they believe in one Allah and God respectively.
What I do not understand about them is when they promote Mary, the mother of Jesus as the one whom they worship and pray. They say she is the one who made atonement for the sins of man. Every time the pray, worship, preach, and meditating using the beads, they
Christianity was founded in the early first century. It is centered around the belief of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is the largest religion in the world with around 2 billion followers. Christianity is a monotheistic religion. This means that Christians believe in only one
