The Hunger Games vs. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire One of the hardest things for a director to do is to turn a book into a movie. There is a fine line between keeping the movie just like the book, and by barely crossing that line you can end up making a completely different vision than the book has set out for you. There are also many viewers out there that will completely hate the movie if it is nothing like the book that they read originally. The director has to realize that although there are many different types of audiences to please, that it still has to be a great movie that people cannot stop talking about. Gary Ross does a really good job in pleasing each and every type of audience there is. In The Hunger Games he really does a good job in not only pleasing different …show more content…
Each year there is one male and one female chosen from each district to participate in the annual Hunger Games. Prime, Katniss, Gale, and Peeta are all from district 12 and when the time comes to pick a participant, Prime, Katniss’s sister is chosen. Katniss then volunteers to take over for her beloved sister, and Peeta is chosen from the boys side. They are then rushed to the capital to start their training for the games. Peeta works at the bakery so he is good at camouflage and throwing heavy things. Katniss if very good at archery and with a bow. Their job is to get sponsors while they are at the capital. When they go in to be evaluated, Katniss shocks the sponsors by shooting an arrow into the apple in a man’s hand when they underestimated her. That earned her a very high evaluation score and more sponsors. Peeta then claims to have a crush on Katniss in hopes of making her look more desirable to get more sponsors as well. While being pitted against tributes that have trained for this for their entire lives, people from the capital and all over are watching the games on a television. Katniss relies on her ability to shoot a bow and knowledge of hunting while hiding from the
There are many things to compare and contrast in the hunger games book and the movie. When
With many scenes taken away because some characters are never mentioned took away a lot of the overall meaning of the story. I didn’t feel to relate to the movie as much as I did with the novel. Leaving an apt amount of scenes out, took away some of the anticipation I was building up to. Which made me a bit disappointed.
The book I read for this first independent reading assignment is Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury. This novel showed a dystopian world, in which books have been banned outright, and are being burned by the firemen. This work of fiction possessed many elements that had been shown in other works of literature that I had worked with in the past, though it also possessed definite differences, specifically Lord of The Flies, Ender's Game, and finally The Hunger Games.
Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 and The Hunger Games both have a government that has too much power over its people. Guy Montag lives in a society that is olny given information the government wants them to know. The government doesn't want its citizens to think outside the box. Correspondingly, The Hunger Games has a government who has divided its people into districts to to keep the peace. Kids are randomly chosen to fight in the hunger game to prove district dominance. This is meant to show the amount of power the government has over its people. Next the two stories demonstrate how a group of people can be controlled by giving them false information. With Clarisse’ help, Montag begins to question society and why people follow and act accordingly.
The Fahrenheit 451 is a novel published in 1953 by a writer known as Ray Bradbury. The book is regarded as one of the writer’s best works as a novelist. In the book, the writer presents a future American society where there is no freedom or democracy. This is shown through an act where books are outlawed and in a case where they are found they are to be burnt by ‘firemen’. The society is obsessed with the mass media and driving fast cars. The main characters in the book are Guy Montag, Clarisse McClellan, and Beatty. The genre of the book is based on science fiction.
Life is tough. We all have decisions to make and consequences to consider. Will we survive? Or will it all come crashing down? Catching Fire and Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins are two books in the Hunger Games trilogy showing readers the life of Katniss Everdeen. This is shown in different ways through each story. In Catching Fire, the author shows the lesson through Katniss’s interaction with characters. She has returned home from the 74th Hunger Games and now has to decide between Gale and Peeta. She has feelings for both, but in District 12, it is a struggle to survive and her life will depend on who she chooses to be with. In Mockingjay, betrayal is a common part of survival is shown through Katniss’s idea to join the rebellion and betray
Why in the world do they make movies so different from the book! If the idea is to make a movie that shows the book on the “big screen,” why in the world do they change so many things? Of course there are the similarities, as there always is, but the majority is different.
In both the “hunger games” and “catching fire” the author Suzanne Collins showed that many of the characters rebelled not once, not twice but many times over the course of each book. To me the character that stood out the most is katniss everdeen (district 12 female tribute) as far as rebelling. In the “hunger games” katniss was rebelling but her rebellious acts were nowhere near what the were in “catching fire”. In part one of hunger games katniss was going outside the fence to hunt for food so she could provide for her family, going outside the fence is still illegal but very minor compared to what she does later. As the novel goes on her rebellion acts get worse and worse.
In the book The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian Sherman Alexi, known as Junior, goes over all of the hardships he experienced when he was in high school. The book that I feel most closely correlates to this book is The Hunger Games. In The Hunger Games,Katniss and her sister Prim go through significant hardships under the Capitol Wasteland, where family connections are made. . I will review the similarities from an economical standpoint and how family survives in hardship. Katniss and Junior go through the same problems of wanting to better their family, but not able to do so because they're so young. They also go through the problem of being poor, where they don't have enough money for food or transportation. Family is definitely something that is extremely important in both books. These books orient themselves around how family takes care of each other even as they're going through hardships.
Last, Suzanne Collins‘s The Hunger Game was similar to this because Katniss and Peeta fell in love and fought against the society in the novel. Peeta and Katniss’s love firmed up more while they had a hard time. After Miguel and Alba met in college, they discussed their ideology against the right-wing. Later on, Miguel took a leader of the guerrillas and Alba and the other resistance fought against the dictatorship from military. They could stand by the power of love at that time. At the last page, this is the Alba’s narration how she dealt with her life, “⋯while I carry this child in my womb, the daughter of so many rapes or perhaps of Miguel, but above all, my own daughter.”(p.432). If they were not in love, Alba could not endure the tortures
I had been meaning to watch The 100 for quite a while, I know Season 2 has just finished airing and Season 3 is in the works, and I had heard good things about the show. Not amazing things, but still good. With a strong set of characters, where I actually liked the majority of, and an engaging story that will make you become an addict of television, The 100 is definitely one to keep a look out for. Being described as a mix between The Hunger Games and The Lord of the Flies how can you possibly go wrong with a purchase like that. Will it didn't hook me straight away, with a pretty laughable script for the Pilot episode, you quickly begin to get to know and care for the characters and get involved in the story, just get past the Pilot episode
There are several differences between the book and movie adaptation of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Some of these similarities are very clearly portrayed in the story, and several of the differences made profound changes in my perception of the story line. These changes included plot and the way the story was told.
1984 and The Hunger Games are two brilliant novels written by two award winning authors. They contain many characteristics that typical dystopian novels possess; however, they’re presented differently to create the fictitious environments, where both characters live. Which is why they make such great pieces of Literature to compare.
I believe, that A Wrinkle In Time, Star Wars, and Hunger Games have many similarities, and differences, when it comes to the hero’s journey. Some of the parts that will be compared in the three stories, are: crossing the threshold, ordinary world, and the refusal.
The Hunger Games are literally a fight to the death in which each of the 12 districts sends too tributes, one male and one female. Being entered into the Games means either fortune and fame or unavoidable death. Katniss Everdeen volunteered for her little sister Prim when she got chosen. And the male tribute was Peeta Mellark, for district 12. Katniss knew Petta when he trew a piece of bread to her when it was raining.
