The neighborhood people live in during their prime development stages is crucial to the type of person they will become in the future. The impact is so exceptional that it has created stereotypes and social innuendos for the people that live in these communities. My philosophy about these two neighborhoods is that they are extremely similar in the fact that they both raise up children with different values and mindsets. However, despite what the majority of people believe, this is actually a beneficial circumstance. To outline both sides of the information, what similarities and differences are, two uniquely different neighborhoods were chosen to observe and compare. It’s all dependent on the circumstance of the neighborhood they live in. However, in my case, living in the country secluded from people, has a completely different effect than an actual community of neighborhoods. In the case of Scenic Hill and Mt. Joy, one’s self development comes from the community and obviously the family they are raised in (Cutrona). Certain communities and families will have different mindsets, varying how children are raised. This is a cycle that is always recurring and it’s why people are all unique in their own ways. When people live in a community or hang out in a social group, they tend to acquire the emotions and ideas of the group or community they are in. For example, Mt. Joy is moreover a “Mobile Home Park” and all surrounding homes are mobile homes. The reason for this is conformity within the community. When people search for a place to live, they are also looking for a place to fit in (Cutrona). For this reason, people will stick to what they know and stay in high-class or low-class neighborhoods, never testing or trying the experience of being apart of a different group or a different lifestyle. This is a major reason as to why there are social classes in the first place resulting from people forming groups or communities to avoid being alone and forgotten. The difference in the standard of living in each community is self-showing just by looking at the neighborhoods and its homes. However, the standard of living doesn’t mean just having material objects at disposal rather than those who don’t. It can also mean the value at which people perceive objects. Sometimes people will say that they're the happiest when they’re poor or without money; they understand the emotional aspect of objects and the meaning of all of their emotions (Florida).
