Communism And Animalism And Old Major's Animal Farm

"Remember also that in fighting against Man, we must not come to resemble him,” is something that Old Major says after he tells the other animals of the dream he had the night before. This event causes a chain reaction in the book Animal Farm. Old Major shares some excellent ideas but he passes away before he can see them carried out, and when they are, they do not go the way he had planned them in the first place. He is in a way, like Karl Marx, the founder of Communism, the two both have ideas for a new world but as time goes on and new people come into power the basic principles of Communism and Animalism are soon forgotten.
This book begins with Old Major gathering all the animals into the barn and telling them about a dream he had last night. He saw a place where the animals were free from the rule of the humans. After describing his dream he gave a speech about the evils of man and taught the animals the song called “Beasts of England.” The animals sang the song five times in a row and had a lasting impact on them, this shows how respected and influential Old Major was. Snowball and especially Napoleon decide right off that they, they pigs, should lead the rest of the animals in the new world without Jones. The two are already somewhat breaking one of the rules, that all animals are equal. With the pigs in power what does that make the rest of the animals? They are considered inferior to the pigs, this kind of thinking was also seen in Joseph Stalin, the person Napoleon was based on. Old Major and Karl Marx both had several revolutionary ideas but with the wrong people in power the plans do not bring the change the original creators
