College Football: Brandon Tyrone Marshall

Jeremy maclin attended the university of Missouri as a redshirt sophomore. His positions were wide reciever, punt and kick returner. Maclin holds the record for the most yards in a single season. maclins yardage totals in four categories were: 307 punt returning, 375 rushing, 1,039 kickoff returning, and 1,055 receiving for a total of 2,776 yards; an average of 198.3 yards per game in his 14 games. Maclin was named as a consensus first-team All-American as a wide receiver and as an All-Purpose player. LMaclin, paired with Heisman Trophy finalist Chase Daniel led the Missouri Tigers to a 12-2 record and victory in the 2008 Cotton Bowl Classic. Julio Jones is a wide receiver for the Atlanta Falcons. He was the sixth overall pick in the two thousand eleven NFL draft. Before Julio became one of the best in the NFL he played wide receiver for the University of Alabama. In two thousand nine he helped lead Alabama to a 14-0 season, including a BCS National championship. Jones was the first ever true freshman to start a season opener for the Crimson Tide. Also at the end of his freshman year season he was awarded SEC Freshman of the Year. When Jones entered the NFL combine he held the longest long jump and placed third in the forty yard dash even with a broken bone in his foot. Julio Jones is ranked one of the best to ever play the game and is only growing.

Marshawn Lynch (as you saw in the last page) is my favorite football player. He plays for the Seattle Seahawks, he’s number 24 and is a running back. His numbers in rushing yards are amazing, he has over 9,000 yards just by running and 74 touchdowns. He has 9 receiving touchdowns with 1,900 yards. He is known as “Beast Mode,” for breaking many tackles and running through whoever’s in front of him. He got sponsored by the candy called skittles, he would eat them before his games, on the side lines, and even after the game. He loved them, and obviously they were his favorite candy Skittles realized this and decided to sponsor him. He retired May 21, 2016, at the age of 30.

Nfl wide receiver Julio Jones, who recently with his team the Atlanta Falcons to the Superbowl is the role model to many, but wasn’t always a Nfl player. Julio Jones grew up in Foley and “is a product of Foley High School in Foley, Alabama”, where his football career started. In his high school career, he was rated a five-star recruit by Rivals.com. He was constantly swarmed by recruiters from top colleges and his success shows

There are a few huge examinations in the middle of Washington and Marshall as far as demonstrable skill. Peculiar as it may appear to us, Washington as a youthful Virginia officer honestly considered himself an expert warrior and said as much. Barry Sanders was born in Wichita, Kansas, on July 16, 1968. Barry’s favorite sport was basketball when he was just a kid, but his dad steered him toward football. Barry attended Wichita North High School. Sanders was a second string running back up until the last five games of his senior season. His coaches didn’t play him much because of his fear of getting hit. The last five games Sanders started doing amazing things. Sanders rushed for more than 1,000 yards in his last five games. The total was 1,417 yards for the year. That was a citywide record. (Net Industries, 2017)

Rasul Douglas made a name for himself during his time at WVU. In his senior season, Douglas had eight interceptions, one touchdown, and 101 total yards in 13 games played, also leading the nation in interceptions. Douglas' playing style did not only earn him honors such as WVU Defensive Player of the Year but it also earned him an invitation to the Senior Bowl, to which he has turned heads and has made a name for himself.

3rd round (83rd overall) - Derek Rivers, DE, Youngstown State: Rivers is a 6'4" defensive end/linebacker hybrid who excelled in the FCS under head coach Bo Pelini. A late bloomer, Rivers made a huge jump his junior year, before dominating the FCS this past season as a senior opposite Avery Moss, a fifth round draft pick of the New York Giants.

During his time at the University of Florida, Tim Tebow was known as one of the greatest college football players ever. He won two National Championships and a Heisman trophy, which is the award given to the best player in college football. During this time period in college footbal,l players such as Reggie Bush and others were involved with investigations regarding illegal benefits being given to players by agents and boosters. Needless to say, Tim was never associated or involved in these investigations or crimes.

The 6’3 220 pound 28 year old star Julio Jones is a beast. He’s a wide receiver for the NFL team the Atlanta Falcons. But, how he got to the NFL is a story. Julio attended Foley High school in Alabama, and went to the SECC College Alabama. His years through High school were unbelievable, that’s when he broke records and set records. In High school he played wide receiver and defensive end. But he, were he shined the most was at wide receiver. Also, starting out as freshmen in college he was a 5 star recruit and was number one pick in the nation at his time.

This college football season was absolutely magnificent. The playoff race came down to the final week, and there were stars everywhere. The resurgence of the running back was a pleasure to watch, and now, two of the most prolific running backs we've seen in a while might get to take home some serious hardware; the Heisman Trophy, given to the most outstanding player in the country every year. There were some very deserving candidates who weren't invited to New York City, (Sorry Baker Mayfield and Keenan Reynolds) but this years crop of candidates is still very talented and worthy of the title Heisman Trophy Winner.

The movie “We Are Marshall” is a movie about football. The movie isn’t just a normal football movie. It’s a movie that shows how a town and a college rebuilds after the tragedy that they went through. The town of Huntington, West Virginia and Marshall University went through the tragedy of a plane crash that killed seventy-five people, including football players, coaches, fans, boosters, mothers, fathers, doctors, lawyers and even governors. From this experience people had a choice to rebuild or continue to mourn their loved ones. Nate Ruffin, Donald Dedmon and Coach Jack Lengyel chose to rebuild through ways of leadership, optimism and morals.

In the movie “Marshall” we take a look at one of Thurgood Marshall early cases. In “Marshall”, Thurgood starts off at a train station getting ready to board and some bad cats walk up to him and started screaming obscene things at Thurgood. We see Thurgood going into the NAACP office and someone is waiting for him to tell him he will be taking a rape case in New York. Thurgood tells his wife that he will have to leave again for another court case. So he goes to New York and enlists the help of local lawyer Samuel Friedman. Marshall needed a co-counselor based in Connecticut to help him argue the case, someone more familiar with the laws and politics particular to the state. Sam’s response wasn’t to welcoming. He felt like this was a case that could possible ruin his career. He wanted nothing to do with it. After a few movie minutes we go to see the man accused of rape. It’s an African American male named Joseph Spell. Spell is accused of raping his former boss Eleanor Strubing. Mrs.Strubing had come home from dinner with friends. She was fresh from the shower and wearing only a robe when Spell knocked on her bedroom door and asked if he could borrow some money. She claims Spell raped her made her get dressed took her downstairs, bound her hands and feet, and raped her again. After forcing her to write a ransom note, he put her in the car, cut off the bottom of her dress and gagged her with the remnant, and drove until a policeman stopped the car. The officer did not

To what extent was William Marshall’s life as a knight different from other knights of the time? Invariably it was not that much different than those of his peers until his later life. The one thing that set him apart from other knights was his fierce dedication to loyalty.
