The benefits of a college degree are getting a good job. Also being able to support yourself, and maybe a family one day. When you put in as much time as you’re likely going to in building a career, it’s important that you choose something you can perform well and enjoy. By learning about each of your many options and making yourself aware of your choices, you will increase your chances of being more satisfied with your career later in life. The more formal education you have, the more confident you will be. But one of the key benefits of a college degree is the unique bonds which are developed in a person’s life.

The nursing program is very popular at Fairmont State. There are more than 300 students currently pursuing degrees and over 1800 graduates are practicing health care all over the country. Mildred Montag was the founder of the Associates degree in nursing education. The Associates degree in the Nursing program has a history of successful graduates dating back to 1964. The need for registered nurses are in great demand by employers, but graduates have consistently exceeded state passing rates on the national licensure exam for registered nurses. Fairmont state also has two opportunities for licensed practical nurses who have earned credit for the first year support courses to complete the degree in three semesters. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Bachelor of Science in Allied Health Administration programs provide associate degree holders in health professions an opportunity to enhance their opportunities beyond the bedside and clinical practice area to the management and leadership arena or graduate education. Students at Fairmont State can maintain full time employment while pursuing either of these degrees in the evenings as a part-time or full-time student. Graduates with a bachelor’s degree in nursing can pursue a master’s degree in nursing through the collaborative graduate program with Marshall University here at Fairmont

Colleges provide opportunities in the community where I learn how to treat others with courtesy and respect while making my own contributions.
