Should college athletes be paid for the efforts in their respective sport? Athletes are being paid by the education they receive from the university. Letting universities pay athletes would make the student athlete responsible for taxes and other major choices making them a professional and not an amateur.
1. A company makes money from their employee’s performance from their customers. Employees are paid by employers to add value for the company’s customers.
2. Providing the athlete with everything they need while they are playing the sport is paying the student for their services to the university, while the university provides a free education to each athlete giving them something that lasts for a lifetime.

The case made by the NCAA is that they are not obliged to pay college athletes and the tuition covered is a reimbursement. In her article she emphasizes the fact that paying college athletes would be completely unfair to other students that attend school. She argues that the student athletes have almost everything provided for them in college and how regular students don’t have some of the opportunities that they do. She also goes on to say that the scholarship that the school provides for their athletes is payment enough, whether it is a full or partial scholarship.
