I am writing this e-mail to address the issue of a closed campus at the high school. High school students should be allowed to leave the campus during lunch to find a comfortable environment to eat and to buy what they want to eat.
Students do not have the time to wait in line for five to eight minutes just to buy lunch in you cafeteria. Most students carry around their books in their bags from previous periods and do not have time to drop off their bags at their lockers. There is simply not enough time suitable for a student to get their lunch and have it comfortably on this campus.
In addition the amount of room in the cafeteria is insufficient given the amount of students. The cafeteria is beyond crowded for student’s and is almost like
Almost every student eagerly waits for the lunch bell. It means that it's time to take a break, time to indulge, time to talk to your friends. But with all of this excitement and commotion happening all at once, no one stops and take the time to look around and observe the overlooked parts of the lunch room. When observing my sixth period surroundings, I finally noticed how unoriginal and oberly disorderly the things and people around me really are. The pandemonium begins before you even enter the cafeteria. Loud girls shriek with laughter while rambunctious boy toss around some sort of food that evidently always finds its way on to the floor. Does anybody clean it up? Nope. Not a single soul will think twice about stepping over that
Some of my fellow students at Conroe High School don’t eat lunch in the cafeteria. For instance,I eat lunch everyday in the agricultural shop all the way behind the rotunda at our school, and my fifth period is in the main building upstairs. Because of this, sometimes I have to leave lunch early and don’t get to finish it only to be able to make it back without getting a tardy. Another example would be, the kids that eat in the Music Hall of our school or even a science classroom, and we don’t know exactly when the teachers release from the cafeteria. They get a referral because they were tardy too
HELP! I'm dying!... because school lunches are cringing! Students should be allowed to leave class during lunch hours, and be trusted to leave and return back in time for their next class. If high schools gave students this right it would teach them how to manage their time wisely and it would help them become responsible. Students who leave campus during lunch are most likely end up going to a local business to get their lunch which is both good for the students and the local businesses. Students with special food allergies could leave campus during lunch and go to their homes and get food they could actually eat and not be worried that their food could have been cross contaminated to something they're allergic to. Students who leave campus during lunch would come back energized and ready for their next classes.
The process to achieve open campus lunch benefits would involve security attendance, extension of lunch periods and student records. The students will have to go through a process to be able to continue the privilege of having open campus lunch throughout the year. The researcher will conduct a proposal to meet and talk with the Board of Education on behalf of student rights and lunch reform policy for the need of student involvement. The meeting is to consider if off campus lunch would be eligible to community high schools for productive upper class students. (Open campus, mountainvistaonline.org). Therefore, students could have a complete understanding of conduct regarding the educational rules and regulations that applies with an open campus policy. For instance, an explanation of proper designated times for lunch and departure from school grounds. An example would be the consequences of violation of policy from a student’s actions. Consequences would include a student receiving a disciplinary referral, suspension or expulsion depending on how severe the offense is. (U.S. Department of education “FERPA General Guidance for students” www2.ed.gov).
"It is now three o'clock. If you are not under the direct supervision of a teacher please report to the cafeteria," the loudspeaker announces. Daily many students spend their time waiting in the lunchroom after the final bell rings. Some students are waiting for their ride while others do homework with friends. Some spring sports, like tennis, do not start their practices directly after school which leaves them waiting. To accommodate for these students and athletes, the A la Carte area of the cafeteria is opening after school from 2:10 to 2:45 p.m.
Students could leave campus, get food, and be back for time given from the school. If students could leave campus to get either a restaurant, get food at home or a fast food restaurant the food would be so much better than the schools food. Students could go to a small restaurant tor a diner. Students could go home and make their selves food. They could go to fast foods restaurants around the area such as McDonald’s, Hardee’s, or Subway. As long as students are back within the amount of time given students should be able to leave campus to get food. School lunches are not healthy for students most of the time. You do not know what the food they are serving you is half the time. If students were allowed to leave school for lunch it would give them a little bit of freedom for an hour. If they could leave campus for lunch it gives them a chance to have a break from their classes. Many students tend to fall asleep in class, if they could have an hour lunch break they could go home eat and rest for a little while. Students may feel trapped staying in one place for 8 hours. Many students also get bored sitting in classes for so long leaving for lunch give them the chance to move around and get out of
On a daily basis more students bring their lunch then they eat school lunches. There are few students who actually enjoy school lunches. Not many schools offer off-campus lunches, even when some students deserve it. Many teachers do not want this because they are afraid that students will be late for class.
It’s easy to understand why some of the parents and faculty members of the students at Oak Creek High would not agree with an open-campus lunch. They may believe that the student body is not ready or capable for handling the privileges of an open-campus lunch program. Yes, there’s the risk of students skipping out of school for the rest of the day with no return, if they have the privilege to leave campus for lunch. Also, some students may abuse the privileges of an open-campus lunch and skip out even if they don’t have a pass ID or parental consent. When those students deciding to skip without a pass get stopped and questioned by a school resource officer, they may get a loitering ticket depending on where they go when they skip, as well as a truancy
Here at Hebron we have more than 2000 students on the main campus and our campus is far too small to accommodate that many students at once for lunch. We have very few lunch lines and all the lines are always packed full of people. And a solution to this would be to simply allow students to go off campus for lunch, with restrictions however of course. I believe that only Juniors and Seniors with a car should be allowed to go off campus for lunch. As most sophomores are fairly new drivers and including them would be too much traffic to handle in the parking lots. With the the addition of off campus lunch you would solve a multitude of problems at once and make things easier for you and the school staff.
Furthermore, due to the “colossal lunch lines” in the cafeteria, students who buy lunch have to wait patiently to get their food while their unrecoverable lunch time is being lost (Aubrey and Godoy). This causes these students to actually have a short amount of time to finish their entire
How would you like it if the lunch lines weren’t so full but your students all had a filled stomach? Well I honestly believe that if you gave only 11th and 12th graders the opportunity to leave campus for lunch and it would make everyone’s life easier.
To begin with many students do not like or want to eat the food provided by the school. This is because there is not much of a variety. The lack of choices will cause students to eat snacks or unhealthy food instead of a meal. If off-campus lunch was allowed students would have many more choices; This would make it much more likely for a student to choose a full meal. You could argue that the food at the off-campus locations are unhealthy, but at least the students would be eating full meals.
Students are busy with classes, athletic practices, clubs and organizations, and other important activities. Because of this, they need dining services that will work around their hours. Since on campus dining may be the only way for some students to eat, it is essential that they are able to make it to the facilities before it closes. If students do not make it in time to eat it can affect the way they function for the rest of the day, which can negatively affect their performance in class, athletics and other activities.
Therefore, modifying the Healthy Hungry-Free Kids Act of 2010 is a great start to meeting the needs of a more diverse student body. In deciding to keep the program the same, active and athletic students leave school undernourished everyday. Consequently, students not receiving their nutritional needs could also quench their hunger with unhealthy alternatives. For example, they could choose to visit a gas station before a sport practice to get through the practice. A healthy lunch program is ineffective if, in effect, it causes students to consume more unhealthy alternatives. Overall, this either causes undernourished students or students indulging in unhealthy alternatives. Neither of these is a good outcome for the students health, it would more effective to offer a second serving of healthier food during
These are the reason why schools should let the students should be able to leave campus for lunch. The school gives, then after a couple months they take all the special privileges away that they gave. Students should be able to handle an hour break to go get lunch with friends, or even go home for lunch. In high school many students have their license, and most of them don’t like the food that’s being served. There could be problems that occur with students leaving, but all problems have a solution, this essay explain why this would be great for high school students to be able to leave campus for lunch.
