Hello everyone, I am here to tell you about an article I read not too long ago. The article is about the danger of the use of nicotine to infants’ health from electric cigarettes’ fluid (e-cig fluid) or personal vaporizer. The title of the article is “Nicotine Poisoning in an Infant” and there are three doctors who wrote this article. The doctors who wrote this article are targeting the vapers (e-cig users) including parents as an audiences. People who vapes e-cigs are everywhere even if you go indoor you will see people vaping e-cigs because they don’t smell like smoking regular cigarettes. So vapers the questions are “What is in the electric cigarettes?” and “Do electric cigarettes are safer to use than regular cigarettes?”

Cigarettes are harmful to you as it can cause many health problems in your body. Even though you’re not a smoker, you can still be exposed to the same chemicals as a smoker can. One cigarette provides you with many chemicals that will damage your body, slowly and will cause addiction. The chemicals can cause lung cancer, strokes, heart diseases and many more long-term effects of cigarettes. Although you may not be a smoker, you can still be exposed to the same chemicals as a smoker will. There are many facts that many people don’t know about cigarettes.

Like most people, you already know that smoking is bad for your health. But do you really understand just how dangerous smoking really is? Smoking and use of tobacco products, including cigars and smokeless tobacco, cause or worsen numerous diseases and conditions (American Lung Association, 2016). There are just around 7,000 chemicals in tobacco smoke, and 4,000 chemicals in one cigarette. There are many reasons why smoking should be banned in the United States.

Smoking kills thousands of people worldwide due to the diseases it causes. Regarding the article “Why is smoking bad for you?”, “Smoking is the largest cause of preventable death in the world” (Nordqvist). Smoking causes many types of cancers such as kidney, mouth and etc. It raises cancer risks due to the thousands of toxic compounds cigarette smoke contains. The smoke contains carbon monoxide which is a poisonous gas. The bloodstream can not determine the difference between oxygen and carbon monoxide and absorbs it in. Cigarette smoking can also cause cardiovascular disease, making heart attacks more prone to a body.

Tobacco has many other dangerous chemicals such as tar, nitrosamines, carbon monoxide, acetaldehyde, and much more. An overall understanding of nicotine and addiction as being a drug that causes addiction is being tested for behavior treatments and medications. If someone even takes one cigarette, even a puff, all of those chemicals will be inside of the respiratory system and the nicotine will hook people to the “thrill” of smoking cigarettes. People will find themselves in debt and in very poor health.

Although smoking may seem cool and produce pleasure, terrible health problems may come from it. Smoking weakens the immune system and increases the chance of getting respiratory infections. The substances in a cigarette are detrimental to the immune system and the smoker is just asking for health problems. 90% of lung cancer cases in the world come from smoking because 69 chemicals in a cigarette cause lung cancer. Smoking causes many life or death complications and someone's health should never be put at risk. Another health from smoking that is just as serious as lung cancer is Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease which is a disease that causes wheezing, breath shortage, and chest tightness and the symptoms get worse and worse over time.

Many people are not aware of what tobacco can do to a persons’ body. I being one of those persons. Tobacco today takes so many lives, it slowly kills each part of the body system and even makes the consumer become addicted making this very difficult to quit. There are more than 4,000 chemicals packed tightly in a cigarette, among those thousands are arsenic, lead, tar and even rat poison. Together, all of these products work together to kill the heart, arteries, lungs, skin, immune system and other aspects of your health. It is estimated that 36.5 million adults smoke in the United States of America (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention B). A cigarette contains 7,000 chemicals and 70 of those can cause cancer (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention B). When someone decides to smoke a cigarette, they are not only choosing to allow those toxins into their body but are imposing all those same toxins on anyone around them. Secondhand smoke is the combination of smoke from the burning end of a cigarette and the smoke breathed out by smokers and is considered more dangerous then smoking the cigarette (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention B). Every year 480,000 people in the United States of America die because of cigarette smoking, which is the leading cause of preventable disease and death. Why has this deadly habit become such a casual part of the American life? This habit is not only harmful to the person smoking, but is hurting everyone around them. It may be their decision to smoke and cause damage to their own bodies but when they decide to smoke in public they are infringing on the rights of everyone around them right to protect their health. Smoking should be made illegal because it is not only harmful to the smokers but also causes harm to fetuses in utero, developing children and any other adults who may breathe that smoke in.
