Christmas Break Research Paper

It is not unusual for values to be challenged when immersed in a new culture. Rules and lifestyles that were once familiar begin to feel foreign and there is pressure to conform to new customs. Similar to how the law of club and fang shows Buck the ways of the wild in The Call of the Wild, the law of the gun introduces Ranse Stoddard into the Western way of life in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. Although the characters adherence to the laws is influenced by their shift into a new culture and environment, Stoddard differs from Buck because his education helps him turn back to his previous values.

Imagine a place, and in this place, you got out of school. Then you had to go back to school one month later. Sounds like a nightmare, right? Like some of you reading this right now, if anybody is, is like what the heck, this can be real, are you sure you’re not just messing with me, or pranking me. Unfortunately, it’s true. There are schools across the U.S that have year-round school, and their breaks are shorter, especially the summer break, the best break of all. And because of this, we should not have year round school because it affects the kids, it affects the parents, and it affects the teachers.

Have you ever thought about what school would be like without the long awaited summer break that comes with the end of each school year? If so, you might be thinking, what would I do with the extra time? Or how would we ever get a chance for a vacation? Is it going to be too overwhelming for my child? But the biggest factor of all, how would the children take this news? It is a great debate amongst many parents and school districts right now. Should we keep the traditional education methods? Or should society as a whole put this to the past and try a new approach to the way we educate our children: Year-round schooling.

During winter break, I didn't do a lot of things although I did spend my time wisely enough to do the things that I was planned to do during the break. Most of the time that I have was for family, and some extra time for games. Since my older brother came back one week before my final, I did have a lot of times having fun with him and my parent. My older brother did stayed with me the whole break, and he left on Saturday to go back to UCLA, which was two days before I came back to school. I think that my break was great, and I didn't do a lot of things, but I think that I did achieve all of my goals for the winter break. Girls were screaming and yelling. There was a demonic sign hung up in the hallway of the girl's restroom and the toilet was filled with red. This sounds pretty scary; too bad it was just a hoax. This was my cousin's and I’s prank and I believe that pranks are the greatest way of spending your time over Christmas break. In fact, the girls affected were freaked out; they even wanted to send us home, but too bad for them because we got permission to pull the prank. This goes to show that you can have a lot of enjoyable times with pranks.

Her flaws and attitude are seen very clearly through the passage such as her bad french and table manners. Now a longer winter break sounds like a great idea, but losing most of the summer break doesn’t seem worth it. How would you feel bout year around school? Some people say we should have it, but others say we should not. Would it fit your schedule? We already have four breaks as it its. It would not be easy to stay in the routine, because you are always on break. We should not have year around school!

Exciting the most exciting Christmas Break yet in fact. Different but in a good way. Christmas an Elk hunt and movie watching is what my Break was like.

The average school period is one hundred and eighty days with small breaks in between and a three-month break during summer to ease students’ minds and let them relax. The Board of Education should make all schools in the United States year-round to increase educational time and decrease the loss of knowledge over the breaks. It gives students the same time to relax and plan family vacations periodically throughout the year, but never creates the stress of changing sleep schedules that summer break changes. Not only is it a good way to enhance education, but it also is better for planning family events, positive effects on budget, academic achievement, and could decrease the absence rate of students.

After all the students spend hours each day and night trying to complete school and homework. Ruby Mullin( 2015) says this about the idea of shortening summer break “This idea is mean; there's no other word for it. Children need to calm down and have a good holiday at the end of a busy school year”. Some Professors, like Chet Stetson(2013) say “Not only is the school year hard on the kids, it is straining on the adults as well. We have to work overtime to grade papers and prepare lessons”. Now the professors have to work even harder with more kids filling up every class. So students and professors alike do have valid reasons to believe that summer break should stay as it is. However, other possible break orientations have potential. By splitting summer break into more, but with smaller breaks, students and teachers alike would have a short break every few weeks. This would give students time to calm down and give teachers time to prepare lessons and grade

It has come to the school board’s attention that the surrounding schools have started having a four day school week. They are debating whether or not they should follow through with this action. A four day week would be a horrible idea for the school board to follow through with.

I think we should have a four-day school week this year because teachers don’t know what kind of problems we have at home that we to solve. Then when we reach to our school the teachers start yelling at us for homework or different kind of stuff. So I say Teachers give us a break to resolve our problems.

First, a certain amount of extra school should be added on to the year if the winter was severe enough, but should not exceed a week or maybe two. The reason the school year should not exceed two extra weeks is because motivation of students would decline drastically. If a school were to exceed two weeks, I believe the students would be so unmotivated that the material that they learned would be close to useless.
