Christianity and Islam Despite their differences, Christianity and Islam have a number of similarities. Christianity and Islam are often known as monotheistic religions based on Jesus and Muhammad. Christians and Muslims believes in one God, that he is the creator and sustainer of the universe. They also believe that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was a virgin. In other words they don't have much differences. Islam and Christianity are often called "Abrahamic religions" because they trace their history to Abraham. Abraham is a significant character to Muslims and Christians according to bbc.co.uk (BBC Religions). Christians and Muslims consider Ishmael to be the "Father of the Arabs" and Isaac the "Father of the Hebrews". The Holy Bible is the holy book for Christians and the Muslims' holy book is The Quran. Christians believe God is three gods merged into one God but Muslims believe that Allah is their one God. According to islam101.com, they believed that God sent prophets such as Abraham, Noah, Jesus, etc . Christians and Muslims believes that Jesus Christ is the Messiah and he was sinless. In addition to that, they didn't only believe that Jesus was the Messiah, they also believe that Mary the virgin, is the mother of Jesus and he was born miraculously. Christians and Muslims believed Mary was a virgin when she gave birth to Jesus. She was purified and preferred over all women to be the one to give birth to the Messiah, Jesus the son of God.
