“As we evaluate the adequacy of competing worldviews, it soon becomes evident that not all of them give the same answers to life’s most profound questions.” (Wilkens & Sanford, 2009) A worldview is our perception or conception of the world around us and provides answers to questions like, “What part do I have to play in this world?” It is important to constantly evaluate and check your worldview to ensure that you are truly living to what you say you believe. During my examination of different worldviews and the comparison to the Christian worldview, I have come to realize how things like individualism, moral relativism, and even nationalism have come to play a part in my own worldview and I have learned the importance of constantly comparing …show more content…
I strive to keep my worldview in check with what the Bible teaches about individualism. The Bible teaches me how to value myself and the others around me, “When I claim to be the prime reality in the universe, this requires that I see others either as a tool for maintaining my status or as a competitor for my place at the center.” (Wilkens & Sanford, 2009) However, Jesus taught us the value of human life when he commanded us, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Mark 12:31) Jesus was teaching against an individualistic worldview and showing that everyone is to be valued the same and should be loved just as much as we love ourselves. This Christian worldview teaches us to find our value in God who is the real prime reality. Truly looking at individualism and examining what I believed about myself and the others around me taught me to look at people differently. I will admit that at times I saw other people as tools for business or just customers who come to my place of work. However, the Bible has taught me to see other people as equals to me, all made in the image of
The scientific method is a tool that enables a person to seek out new knowledge, or correct and integrate new knowledge. It is composed of eight individual steps: which start out with defining a question, gathering information and resources, form an explanatory hypothesis, test the hypothesis by performing an experiment and collecting data in a reproducible manner, analyze the data, interpret the data and draw conclusions that serve as a starting point for new hypothesis, publish results, and ends with a retest. The steps can be grouped into four different essential elements: operation, observation, model, and utility function.
The Old Testament of the Holy Bible gives many examples which provide modern man with guidelines for the use of scientific method. Millam (2008) explains that there is an underlying order in nature demonstrated by the patterns and regularities of God’s creations. These regularities can be seen in the forces of nature and are stable throughout space and time (Millam, 2008). The original classification of species, use of precise measurement, and even the first account of scientific research, are all included in the Old Testament of the Holy Scriptures. God gives scientists some clear frames of reference for seeking knowledge and truth in science.
How did the earth and everything on it come into existence? This is a question, that for the Christian worldview is answered by the Bible, in Chapters 1 and 2 of Genesis. The Bible makes clear to it’s readers that God existed before anything else. The creation account in Genesis 1 splits creation into 6 days and a 7th day of rest. The first day God created the earth and Heaven as well as day and night. The second day God separated the earth from heaven to create the sky. On the third day God separated the waters on earth so there would be dry land. He created plants and trees that could bear fruit and seeds. God made theses plants so that they would be able to keep growing from the seeds that fell from them. On the fourth day God created the
Yet people are separated from God, not because he is so distant, but rather people are born rebels (i.e., they are born raging against him) (Rom 3:10-18).
Today, in modern day living, people are talking about either of the two worldviews, and the importance of that chosen worldview. However, one can choose to live by the principles of a secular worldview or a biblical worldview. This study highlights the distinguishable difference between a secular worldview and a biblical worldview, the incorporation of belief and doctrine, and the theories of vocations and the efforts for living righteously.
A biblical worldview should influence the way I think about, treat, and speak to others on a daily basis because I do not want to go around and degrade everyone that comes into sight. I should always treat others with the upmost respect even if I do not get treated with respect by that individual. I should not always judge others on how they look, speak, or act because I would not like it if someone came up to me and started pointing out every flaw that I had. Matthew 7:12 states “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” Therefore, individuals need to be more mindful of their words and actions because an individual can really hurt someone mentally, physically, and emotionally.

My name is Asia Harvey. I am eighteen years old. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I am a freshman in college majoring in communications. Worldview to me means how everyone in the world interprets reality. I believe everyone has a worldview and it is influenced by our ethics, morals, and family values. It can also be influenced by what we hear, what we read, what we see or who we associate with. Worldview is mostly influenced by religion and science even though, a worldview can and do change. I believe the Christian worldview deals with the belief in the Bible. It leads me to believe that God created the universe in six days and on the last day he rested and that I am God's creation put on earth to fellowship with him and govern
The Bible tells us, in Genesis that God created us in his image to be the caretakers over all the animals He created before us. God first created Adam then created Eve from Adams rib. As a Christian, we believe this because it is in the living word. For Muslims, the origination of mankind is different. Instead of the Bible, Muslims have the Qur’an.

Benchmark - Gospel Essentials Christian Worldview refers to the framework of the beliefs and ideas that individuals or a group understands the world and how they respond with it. To most Christians, the Word of God and religion are the unifying factors which define their identity and their religious stand. According to Romans1:8, some of the worldview factors that were addressed by Paul include culture, natural world, human relationship, and identity.
Due to the "highly subjective nature of most scientific theorizing... [we should] let the Bible speak for itself and modify our scientific view of origins accordingly." (as cited in Downey, D., & Porter, S., 2009).
The author concludes that Christians are to live faithfully by the values of the bible. As members of society, we are expected to play a critical role in in our community rather than isolating ourselves from those opposed to Christian worldviews. There are ways for Christians to live out their faith, but still remain active parts in the community.
What do you see when you visit a city for the first time, or look at a movie or, what do you hear when you listen to the news or read a book? The answers to these questions depend on your worldview. So, what is a worldview? A worldview is described as “the framework from which we view reality and make sense of life and the world.” David Noebel, author of Understanding the Times said, “A worldview is any ideology, philosophy, theology, movement or religion that provides an overarching approach to understanding God, the world and man 's relations to God and the world," Your worldview is like a set of lenses through which you view the world.
