Right out of college, Chris Fiel wanted to pursue a domain that has never been pursued, and he did exactly that when he opened Team Chiropractic in Ames, Iowa. His clinic’s story is one of America’s great American dream stories. Dr. Fiel gained a love for science and medicine after attending Iowa State University for a bachelor's degree, and then attended Palmer School of Chiropractic Medicine. Out of college, he then worked for the Baltimore Ravens, where he learned about the importance of the balance between physical therapy, orthopedics, and chiropractic medicine. With these experiences, he opened a clinic unlike any other: Team Chiro Rehabilitation. It took time for Dr. Fiel to figure out what he wanted to do for a living. He had an education in Chiropractic, but knew there was much more to learn. He delved into an unknown domain where physical therapy, orthopedics, and chiropractic sciences meet. He combines all of these aspects into his treatment plans, and it is one of the reasons why he is so successful. However, this recent success has not hindered his thirst for knowledge. In fact, he recently has become certified in acupuncture, which will help countless more patients. …show more content…
This philosophy is how Dr. Fiel has gotten to the point where he is, and why he continues to be successful. He believes gossip spreads like wildfire, and the best way to prevent it from spreading is by not letting the fire start at all. He never speaks badly about anyone, and is always encouraging. Although he hears bad things about people from all kinds of patients, he never discloses embarrassing information. In a way, Team Chiropractic is a way for patients to let loose about their feelings since Dr. Fiel has created environment in which patients can talk freely. This can be noticed within the first moments of talking to him. His warm, open personality is what keeps his patients coming back for
I decided to become an osteopathic physician mainly because I want to learn more about osteopathic manipulation technique (OMT), which will provide me an invaluable tool to treat patients. As an alternative treatment option to drugs and surgeries, it often works quicker and has fewer side effects. During my shadowing with Dr. Truong, a graduate from VCOM, he demonstrated me OMT, such as muscle energy, counter-strain, high-velocity low-amplitude. He used OMM and acupuncture to help his patients relieve pain. I witnessed how he used acupuncture on patients and brought immediate relief to suffering patients during
Chiropractic is and always will be incredibly significant to me and my family. Regular adjustments from my father, who is a Palmer alumni, aided me to stay in exceptional shape and helped me to remain healthy. Ever since I was a young child, the primary health care that my family used was chiropractic. Growing up I suffered from headaches, earaches, and other annoying problems that affected my childhood. However, after receiving chiropractic adjustments, the pain subsided rapidly and prompted me to appreciate life to a greater extent as I became older. My family is a strong believer in the power of chiropractic and the ability it has to aid in improving one’s health and preventing various health related problems.

“In April 1992, a young man from a well-to-do East Coast family hitchhiked to Alaska and walked alone into the wilderness north of Mt. McKinley. Four months later his decomposed body was found by a party of moose hunters.” (Author’s Note) The hitchhiker found was Christopher Johnson McCandless, although no one knew who it was for a while until they investigated the case and found out it was Christopher McCandless. He grew up in Washington D.C., where he was a great athlete and excelled academically. After graduating from Emory University with honors, McCandless wanted to start a new life. He changed his name, gave all his money to a charity, abandoned his family and his car, and burned all the cash he had carried in his wallet and went off into the wild. His family had no clue to where he could have possibly gone until what was left of him turned up in Alaska.
The mission of chiropractors is to enhance the lives of this and future generations through the power of the chiropractic adjustment and wellness lifestyle. Many athletes go to the chiropractor to get their health to full potential again. Although, most clients go to the doctor and get hundreds of dollars worth of x-rays and medicine, if they went to the chiropractor then their injury could easily be fixed with quicker treatments and less money spent. Going to the chiropractor is a better option to heal client’s spinal issues than going to the doctor.
Currently attending the University of Dubuque, this bright-eyed young man found himself falling in love with the health wellness and exercise science program. Dreams of being able to work with the NFL or NBA as a professional physical therapist. Keeping his head on right is allowing him to successfully get through his first semester strong and well-balanced. With his background in football itself, he knows the ins and outs of what makes a person who is an athlete tick. Being able to aid someone who is hurt,
Chris McCandless was a hero to many people throughout his life and he was often considered a hero to most. But, a lot of people criticized his errors along the journey. When Chris died, his impact on society was mostly positive, and the people who he met remembered his accomplishments that he has made in their life. His passing let people remember him for what he has done to help others along the way. His mistakes and flaws added up from the first day he started this path of life. Throughout the story, Into the Wild, by Jon Krakauer, Chris McCandless is claimed to be a hero by many of the few he met across his journey to Alaska. However, a
Chris McCandless, the subject of Jon Krakauer's“Into The Wild,” whose off-the-grid Alaskan adventure ended in starvation is a hero and an idealist whose sense of independence and adventure inspires us to reach for our dreams. McCandless was a courageous man. He wanted to live a life that was completely different than the one his parents lead. And wanted to submerge himself in the world that we live in and be sequestered from people who take it for granted. However, most students see McCandless as a foolish vagabond whose story should be wrong and not an inspiration, arguing that too many people underrate the dangers of nature. Coming to Alaska and dying because of their ignorance.Chris McCandless followed through with his goals and never
In the past century, chiropractors were shunned and undermined as unethical medical doctors with the sole belief that it was unethical to associate with any of these kind of practitioners. The article which I have thoroughly analysed was retrieved on the American Medical Association website. It outlines the history and events of the struggle of the chiropractors back in the early 1800s up until the late 1900’s. The article also explains how Chester Wilk along with four other chiropractors sued the AMA due to violations of section 1 and 2 of the Sherman Antitrust Act. Through these significant events, the future of chiropractic has been created into what it is as of today.
In the novel Into the Wild, author Jon Krakauer writes,“They will think they have bought my respect” (21). In this quote by the protagonist in the novel, Chris McCandless explains that his parents tried to buy his respect and honor with gifts, however they did not understand Chris’s loathe for material goods. His parents did not understand that respect is earned, not bought, and they did not earn his respect. His poor relationship with his parents and his history with rebellion are some of the main causes for why he disappeared from his family, this also explains his narcissism as he only ever had to care for himself. In Into the Wild, Chris Mccandless believes that an individual’s purpose is to be unique and to avoid being conformed by
“Get knowledge of the spine, for this is the requisite for many diseases.” –Hippocrates, 460-377 BC. If a Greek physician could make this statement over 2300 years ago, why is it such an under-exposed theory today? As stated in Chiropractic First, written by Dr. Rondberg, a chiropractor of 35 years and founder of the “Chiropractic Journal,” Hippocrates “believed that only nature could heal and it was the physician’s duty to remove any obstruction that would prevent the body from healing” (8-9). These “physicians” are called chiropractors today, and their goal is to remove subluxations, the displacement of two or more spinal disks that causes
Chiropractic has been practiced for thousands of years but when it finally became an acknowledged profession, many people became interested in how and why it could benefit their health. It is said that chiropractic treatment can fix many types of spine-related injuries or pain. That includes leg, knee and ankle, back and neck, arms, wrist, shoulder and elbow, and different pre-diagnosed dysfunctions such as arthritis, chronic injuries, and joint discomfort ("BENEFITS OF CHIROPRACTIC CARE.). With 24 different vertebrae in the human spine, a chiropractor must focus in on the independent vertebrae that control specific nerves in the nervous system
I have been impacted both directly and indirectly by chiropractic and chiropractors in several aspects. Although I was not on the table myself until earlier this year, I could see relief and comfort in the faces of family members and friends after receiving adjustment. I approached my chiropractor with the goal to correct my posture. Throughout my visits with Dr. Natalie, my posture did improve, but my confidence and curiosity for the profession equally benefitted as well. Chiropractic became more than an adjustment every couple of weeks, it became my newest fascination. Through my university I was able to schedule shadowing experiences with several chiropractors in the area. This gave me the opportunity to get a feel for the profession as a whole as there is a lot that happens outside of the treatment room. The doctors I encountered were invaluable resources

The internship that I acquired during the summer of 2010 at the Greenwood Sports and Industrial Rehabilitation Center (GSIRC), allowed me to gain an immeasurable amount of experience during my tenure at this facility. Within this period, the exposure to new concepts within the physical therapy industry allowed me to observe and work hands on with patients of all ages and disabilities that exposed me to various treatment plans and programs to restore client’s mobility. The essential Physical Education and Exercise Science (PEES) courses taken at Lander University were beneficial to my academic knowledgebase, which prepared me and developed me for the opportunity within the physical therapy discipline.
