In chapter six of “Critical Handbook of Children’s Literature” which was written by Rebecca Lukens. Jacqueline Smith, and Cynthia Coffel, plot are known as “Sequence of events showing characters in conflict”. Also, this order is one of the best ways for writers to help readers to understand the story of the each character, which was selected by the writer (p. 141). Narrative order is one of the form that is included in the plot, it is the form that tells the story through following an events by step by step. In addition, there are different type of narrative order, one of them is Chronological Order, then Variations in Narrative Form, and finally the Variations is Representations of Time (Lukens et al, 2012, p. 142). This three types of order have their own form that can help children to read and understand the children’s literature.
In the political cartoon with the pilgrim and native Americans the image shows a gun held to the pilgrims head. in the picture the pilgrim ask the native to pass the water. This was not what probably happened at the first thanksgiving ,and despite the small bit of humor that goes along with the image it has a deeper meaning. The native american in the image is wearing a shirt with the words NO DAPl. This is a ongoing issue with a pipeline that is trying to be built on a native american territory known as standing rock. The pilgrim in the picture is the government in the picture trying to take the land by force. The water in the picture is represent as the land or what is own by the natives. In the picture you see that the government is threatening
In the late 1800’s through early 1900’s women and men were did not “tie the knot” like the women and men do in today’s day. In today’s world, women and men get married because they have many things in common, they are in love with each other, and they choose to get married to one another. In many stories written back then, readers can expect to read about how marriages were arranged and how many people were not having the wedded bliss marriage proclaims today.
Regardless of their area of work, nurses have the potential to be exposed to the intimate partner violence (IPV) continuum. Often noticed as the front line workers, nurses are in a position to observe and assess situations where IPV is suspected, and intervene should these issues arise. Nurses are obligated to provide safe, holistic, quality care to victims of IPV and implement resources such as counseling, community support as well as physical and emotional support; “nurses work with persons who have health-care needs or are receiving care to enable them to attain their highest possible level of health and well-being” (CNA, 2017). Nurses have the ability to be a catalyst for positive change for individuals in abusive situations. Victims
Charlotte Figi, a little girl also known as Charlie, has been battling seizures since she was only three months old. This little girl has been in the hospital more times in the first three months of her life than the average person has been within their whole live span due to her seizures that were lasting over two- four hours each, daily! By the time she turned three, Charlie was suffering with over 300 grand mal seizures every week. This really took a toll on this little girl’s body, resulting in the loss of the ability to eat, talk and walk. Her heart has stopped multiple times, so doctors suggested putting this poor little girl in a medically induced coma just because it would help her body rest from all of the nonstop seizing. The

There’s my father, two paternal uncles, two maternal uncles, five cousins, and two cousin’s husbands. I really meant it when I say I come from a family of physicians. Not to mention myself, three other cousins who are in medical school and my sister who started premed recently at FSU. However, I am proud to say that my choice of wanting to be a family medicine physician was based on my own experiences and did not actually occur to me until my last year of medical school.
Fear can control peoples’ actions. This is demonstrated in two very different texts. One is titled A Raisin in the sun and the other is titled Eveline. A Raisin of the Sun is by Lorraine Hansberry and Eveline is by James Joyce. These works of literature were done at different times and by authors with very different backgrounds. A Raisin in the sun and Eveline have the same story line, but uses different styles of writing, elements, and outcomes to express the significance of the character’s behavior and thought process.
The short story What We Talk About When We Talk About Love, by Raymond Carver, is about two married couples drinking gin and having a talk about the nature of love. The conversation is a little sloppy, and the characters make some comments which could either be meaningless because of excessive alcohol in the bloodstream, or could be the characters' true feelings because of excessive alcohol in the bloodstream. Overall, the author uses this conversation to show that when a relationship first begins, the people involved may have misconceptions about their love, but this love will eventually die off or develop into something much more meaningful.
Love Vocabulary- By: Souria Torres Love. Such a powerful emotion that every human can relate to an understand, Love can make you do things you never thought you would, things you never thought you could. It’s that intangible feeling that everyone craves. It causes the fearful and shy to even get out of their shells because they want it, to be loved and to love. We all know what love is, we all want that “forever” with someone, to grow old for those butterflies in your stomach to never go away for the love not to fade. We all got the same images of what love is supposed to be in our heads, a family, house, kids etc etc. But why? Because we’ve always seen it like this, because society has said love is supposed to be like this. So moving along
I opted for this book, because I needed an alluring tale to do a book report over that wasn’t too elongated. After laying eyes on this beauty, I resolute to comprehend this book, and surprisingly enjoyed it so much, that I did a book talk in English over this same book to publicize it. “A Dash of Magic” is a novel that teaches a moral, or lesson, in the end. Containing this magic little ingredient caught my interest, occurring to me that not many young adult or teen fiction books teach a sensible lesson, mostly just a dilemma and a solution.
The power of love in Harry Potter is unlike any other. So much so that it is an overwhelmingly significant and recurring theme throughout the entire series. From the self-sacrificial love of Lily Potter to the loving mother Molly Weasley to the unrequited love of Severus Snape. There is also the misunderstanding, or the absence, of love; which is equally as important in the novels. Especially since it was the main difference between Voldemort and Harry that was incredibly essential to the storyline. So essential that J.K. Rowling went out of the way to tell us about it in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone when Dumbledore said, “if there is one thing Voldemort cannot understand, it is love” (229, SS). The concept of love is woven so inextricably within the very fabric of the novels, that it continues to challenge the reader all the way until the very end.
The tellings of The Little Match Girl, both the modern version and the traditional short story by Hans Christian Andersen, tell the story of a poor young girl selling matches in blistering cold weather while illustrating the beauty of hope, reminding readers not to take things for granted and encouraging us to become more aware of the ones who do not have a voice to speak for themselves. The original telling of The Little Match Girl started off as a short story written by Andersen when inspired by a young girl he saw selling matches in the streets and after hearing that his own mother was forced by her parents to beg for money on the streets and rather than returning home empty handed she took refuge under a bridge all night where the cold nearly took her life. Two modern adaptations that compare to the traditional are the 1987 film The Little Match Girl directed by Lindsay-Hogg and Disney Studios 2006 short film rendition of The Little Match Girl, where the filmmakers attempt to keep the same themes that are present in Andersen’s version while adding their own twists.
Love is a wonderful thing but can be very dangerous. It leads to very different experiences and there is a major difference between love and infatuation. It has gotten to the point that social media adds to the effect of infatuation and love. The two poems “Magic of Love” by Helen Farries and the “Facebook Sonnet” by Sherman Alexie come to together in one common factor, when these authors channel all types of emotions, and have the same feelings about two different experiences
