Can you imagine every day being drugged, beaten, and threatened into doing something horrible such as killing someone? I am talking about the life of a child soldier. Every day thousands of kids are being forced into their country's army and now they are killing many people. So the main question is should we grant them amnesty or not? Some may not agree with me
Based off my research I have found that it is very likely they were forced, let me explain according to an article called armed and underaged “Thousands of boys, some as young as 10, are purchased, kidnapped, or terrorized into joining the country’s army.” Could you imagine this? These kids are being tormented into fighting. People are buying kids and stealing kids from homes. Terrorizing

My last piece of evidence for this idea is from a summative essay. According to a summative essay about child soldiers “Child soldiers are often forced into fighting through false promises.” These children are being dragged into this mess because they think something good is going to come to them. They don't know that they will get nothing and will have to do gruesome things. This is just some of the …show more content…
My first piece of evidence comes from debatewise. According to someone on debatewise “Child soldiers rarely have the same understanding of their decisions and actions as adults and therefore should not be held responsible for their actions.” Why should these kids be held responsible? They don't even understand what adults do. These kids are too young to understand the consequences of their actions. my next piece of evidence comes from the article armed and underage. According to armed and underage “These kids can be so easily brainwashed” How are you suppose to be aware of what you're doing when you have been brainwashed? It is not child soldiers fault for these crimes if they were not fully capable of understanding what they were doing because they were brainwashed. Now for my last piece of evidence which comes from a summative essay. According to a summative essay on child soldiers “They lack the mental maturity and judgement to express consent or to fully understand the implications of their actions.” Like I said before, these child soldiers are not mentally capable of understanding the consequences of their actions. They may not fully understand the meaning of death. That is the evidence I have found for this idea. Now some of you people out there may be thinking they at least know bad from wrong. Well let me tell you, when you're young, scared, and confused from being
Jeffrey stated that “More than 200,000 children worldwide are still used as child soldiers.” This trend is reportedly present mostly in Africa, as generals need to be able to two people for every person that they lose. Moreover, it’s easy to teach kids to something that they can’t tell is right from wrong. After being trained these newly made warriors are trained to kill while being completely stoned or high on a cocaine-gunpowder mix that is given as a drug to them. The fault does not fall upon those trained to kill, but the trainees that put them up to such an awful
Child soldiers were forced to kill , they were promised a lot of things.” and forced by commanders through false promise , drugs..” this helps me understand that they were lied too. Also , child soldiers DID have choices because it says in the article , “ Furthermore, many children join without carefully thinking through their decision.” which helps me understand child soldiers got involve themselves. They didn’t know what they were getting themselves into.
Most child soldiers are brainwashed by use drugs and alcohol. ”the drugs and alcohol make the children become more compliant enabling them to commit atrocities which they never would have before” said Child Soldiers: Victims or Perpetrators? Article. The children became over reliant on the commander for food, shelter, money, water, drugs, alcohol they find it extremely hard to leave. “The section of the brain known as the frontal lobes controls decision making and only fully develops well into your 20’s. Children simply lack the ability to think of the long term consequences of their actions” said Child Soldiers: Victims or Perpetrators Article.
Child soldiers should be given amnesty because they were drugged under the influence to shoot. “Thousands of boys, some as young as 10 are purchased, kidnapped or terrorized into joining the country’s army.”(Gentlemen) Children aren’t at the age to be responsible when drugged. Children have the choice to live and kill or be killed. The people who use the child soldiers are drugging them to kill with little thought. Child soldiers should be given amnesty because they are influenced.
I believe child soldiers should have amnesty because their commanders force them to be in war and give them drugs to take so they can go kill tons of innocent people.
Child soldiers are any children under the age of 18 who are recruited by a state or non-state armed group and used as fighters, cooks, suicide bombers, human shields, messengers, spies, or for sexual purposes. In the opinion of many people including parents, children, and political figures, the use of children in wars or for the purpose of being soldiers is unfair and wrong. Therefore, based on all of the cruelties the children face such as their lives being threatened, their being taken from their families and forced to commit these heinous acts, and not being treated fairly while they are serving, it is in many’s opinion that these children be given amnesty, and are forgiven for their acts.
Did you know in war torn countries millions of kids are being kidnapped and ripped away from their families by terrorist leaders to fight? Hundreds of kids each day are being torn away from their homes and the people they love. The kids are forced to fight for terrorist groups and are brainwashed, with drugs and alcohol, to believe it's the right thing to do.Child soldiers should be given amnesty because they are forced and brainwashed into violent crimes.
Some may think, Children who were forced to commit crimes are punished for something they had no control over when getting forced to be a soldier. But it turns out
From witnessing murders of their own family, to being kidnapped. It wasn’t the children’s choice to be a soldier (most of the time). If you have ever seen the movie, Mulan. You might remember when Mulan’s father was drafted into the army. He had no decision of choosing to serve or not to serve. Even though he could barely walk. That’s the reverse for a child soldiers, they didn’t get to live a long life. In fact, they haven’t had a childhood besides killing people. The children’s families are sometimes dead or participating in these violent acts. Imagine having your family killed and the rest taken away. It would be
These children are trained to kill, they don’t get to have the childhood they need. Immediately after they join the army the are thrown into training, their education completely abandoned. Being taught to kill at such a young age is something no child should have to go through, but these kids do so. These kids are forced to watched videos of executions and suicide bombers, even executing some prisoners themselves. In the article “Prosecuting Child Soldiers for their Own Safety” by Stephen Leahly, he writes about how children are told to kill someone in their own family or be killed themselves.
In the world there are many issues poverty, war ,hunger but there's one issue that seems to keep coming back and that is child soldiers they are either kidnapped and brainwashed or there fighting for their lives high on cocaine. They don't get a choice it's life or death but the issue right now is should they be given amnesty for their crimes or prosecuted. In my opinion i feel they should be given amesty in the article armed and uderaged it says many off the child soldiers were exposed to sexual abuse including rape. They are also given cocaine, marijuana and sometimes they mix cocaine and gunpowder for them to ingest.
One day you're at home and someone knocks at your door. You open it and it's someone from the U.S. army. They ask if your mom's home and you say no. Just then she pulls up in your driveway. The commander sits you down with your mom and explains to you that you father has been killed and they have the person that did it. He gives you the choice to send him to court or let him go. Then he tells you it was a 15 year old kid. I believe that most people would send that kid to court. These kids shouldn’t be given amnesty because they chose to go to the camps, they have no remorse for what they did, and many cannot recover and would go back again if they could.
The article “The Child Soldiers Accountability Act of 2007” by Tom Malinowski, an Washington advocacy director, does a excellent job of highlighting the very common case in which child soldiers suffer. “...children are often separated from their families, driven from their homes, and left with no opportunity to go to school. In situations of extreme insecurity, many believe that joining an armed group is their best chance of protection or survival.” Some may argue the choice children make, and claim it’s the child 's fault. They claim that if the kid really wanted to be safe, it would fled to another country, not head into the war. A child should have more common sense, or should at least know that trusting these sources is the completely wrong thing to do. These claims, though, are not true. I think a direct quote from the article “Child Soldiers: Victims or Perpetrators” explains perfectly why; “...Once they are recruited the children become over reliant on their commanders for shelter, money, water, drugs and alcohol that they find an extreme difficulty to leave. Children at that young age will rarely ever have the same understanding as an adult.” This children are children, they don’t have a fully developed mind, and can’t possibly call out these fore thoughts before hand. Even after these kids have realized the darker side of the government or rebel group,
This includes drugging and abusing them. This shows in the article “Child Soldiers: Victims or Perpetrators?” where it says “More often than not children have no say in whether they enlist or not and once recruited the children become brainwashed through the use of drugs and alcohol. The drugs and alcohol make the children become more compliant enabling them to commit atrocities which they never would have before.” This shows how army commanders are drugging kids in order to brainwash them and get them to do stuff for the army. This shows again in the same article where it then says “Children are often forced into fighting and have little choice over whether or not they enlist.” This shows how they don’t even have a say when they go to war and are tortured or threatened into joining the army. While I have views towards these tortured and brainwashed kids, their have also been promises that the commander has
Imagine you were one of the 300,000 child soldiers from as young as even 7 years old who served in one of the many armed forces where you would fight and kill many innocent people thinking you were doing it for a good cause. Everyday of your life you see dead bodies you and your rebel group have killed. Many children under the age of 18 go to sleep with peace and love, some children go to sleep knowing they are in a war where they are killing innocent lives. While this is happening, there has been an increase in number and in power of multiple rebel groups. Children are forced by commanders through drugs and things which you can’t even imagine, to kill innocent civilians, and even their own families. There are multiple perspectives on this issue and this issue has yes and no for amnesty and not amnesty. Some critics say that some child soldiers are perpetrators and some believe that child soldiers know that they are killing innocent people which some child soldiers believe killing is right. However, I do believe in the critics who say that some child soldiers are not innocent. I do believe that some who are older than the age of 13 years old and can take consequences for their killing and do know what they are doing. But those that are under 13 years old are innocent and still lack mental maturity and don’t understand what they are doing which means they are brainwashed to believe that what they are doing is right. If they’re under 13 years old and have proven not to be a
