Chick-Fil-A Chick-fil-A first got its start when the founder, Truett Cathy was born in 1921. He opened his first restaurant, the Dwarf Grill in 1946, and in 1964 he invented the Original Chicken Sandwich. Three years later in 1967, the first Chick-fil-A restaurant was opened in Atlanta, Georgia. From that beginning 48 years ago, the chain has remained family owned and has grown to almost 2,000 restaurants with sales nearing $6 billion a year ("History," n.d.). The mission statement of Chick-fil-A is to “Be America’s best quick-service restaurant, but more importantly then that is the corporate purpose of Chick-Fil-A which is “To glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us. To have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A.” Chick-fil-A has four traits, they call The Core Four that helps to create a uniformity throughout the company and will be the same no matter where you’re at. Those four behaviors are maintaining eye contact, speak enthusiastically, smile and be engaging with the customer (Story, 2015).
