Through Tiffany Dean Loftin’s presentation, I gained a newfound understanding of the complex union leadership structure along with the power of grassroots organizing that can connect workers of color and immigrants. Like Loftin, I found it very frustrating that unions like the AFL-CIO are slow to embrace social causes like racial justice and immigration reform because they have enormous power to push for policy changes, as demonstrated by Samuel Gompers and the National Quota Act of 1924. Similar, stagnated union leadership can be a key factor in blocking social progress. As described in her presentation, it is often difficult to navigate and direct policy changes when the leadership is made up of a coalition of different people with different

And finally, there is the issue of staff mismanagement. The supervisor, Keith Frazier, is only checking in with this department one to two times per week. Mr. Frazier is aware that Pat is making international phone calls. He is also aware that Pauline found a way for Pat to make these calls from the building’s elevator once he had the phone system modified to only allow internal calls. Mr. Frazier has also been fielding complaints from the accountants about not receiving their tax schedules in a timely fashion. However, he has failed to confront either of these issues. This lack of management can be attributed to the following:

Prompt 3: Similarities: Something both Ed and Judy Boone share is their genuine love for Christopher despite their difficulty in fully understanding Christopher. I know this because in the text when Christopher blatantly disobeys his father Ed and they get into a fight, Ed later then apologizes and takes Christopher to the zoo and says "Christopher, do you understand that I love you?" on page 66. Which explains itself; he loves Christopher regardless. As for Christopher's mother, Judy Boone, she also loves Christopher dearly. In the text when Christopher just shows up out of the blue and right into her life, she puts her life on hold just to take care of him thus losing her job and leaving Mr.Shears. When Mr.Shears says Christopher can only

The interview was done at the high school in Celeste’s office and Tim was not present.
