It’s a boy!! That’s what the doctor said when I was born. I was born in Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa. The day was the third of January in the year of 2000. At the time I was born it was a special moment and not just for my family, but the county. The reason for that was because I was the millennial baby for Decatur County. There were many people who had known the name Chase Andrew Miner. I was given the name Chase Andrew Miner. My mom had liked the name Chase and Chance, but she finally decided on Chase. While that decision wasn’t too hard for her to make, (at least she said it wasn’t) my last name, Miner, was an even easier decision. My mom was married to my dad and she took his last name, so the obvious last name would be Miner. My mom told me she had a really difficult time figuring out a middle name for me. She couldn’t find a name that fit in well. One day my aunt, Lori, called my mom and asked about the name Andrew. My mom had thought about it and she decided that that name fit. So from that day I was Chase Andrew Miner. The joke my mom says now is if she knew she’d have to chase me so much, she would have named me Slow. But word got around of what …show more content…
Some people would think that’s nothing special, but if you think about, this is something like this happens every 1,000 years. That’s a long time! The people and businesses in the county recognized the significance, and they gave me things to help celebrate. I have heard stories from my mom, so I know some of the things I have gotten. Some of the items included a free haircut, compliments of the Cutting Edge in Leon, two saving bonds, little outfit to wear, a twenty-five dollar gift card to Cayses and Conico (my mom probably enjoyed that), free diapers and wipes, and some other things. Things had been seeming to go well for the first several months that I was alive, but things took a change for the
In June of 1984, Richard Ramirez began his criminal career as the “Night Stalker.” Ramirez tormented the people of Los Angeles and killed at least thirteen people. He was a Satanist and he was into drugs and violence. He would break into homes and rob them. This evil person was haunting the citizens of Los Angeles and other counties in California for over fourteen months.
Richard Ramirez was born on February 29, 1960 in El Paso, Texas. Richard was a mexican/american serial killer waiting for his death at San Quentin state prison. Richard was known for “Richie” or “The Night Stalker”.
My full name is Stanley Evans Fenelon. I believe I was named a mixed of my uncle and my father. My father’s name is Evans Fenelon and my uncle’s middle name is Stanley; but that’s all a theory. I’ve never had a conversation with my parents of how my name came about, but I’m pretty sure that’s how it was made. The uncle I grew up with was my mom’s fourth and final brother out of fourteen children. That’s why I believe she named me after him. It also follows the trend of my younger brother being name after my grandfather, and my little sister being named after my grandmother. I’m one out of three children.
Why are the lives of human beings so unequal? What shaped the world to give some the resources of guns germs and steel - the power to rule continents? While other Societies are left in seclusion? The answer to this very question is what a man named Jared Diamond has made his life work dedicated to. And it all started in a place called “The Fertile Crescent” in the Middle East.
Necessity is the mother of invention, and it is just that necessity that drove woodworker Jeff Miller to create what he calls a branch joint. Essentially a complicated lap joint, the branch joint combines three pieces of wood to make a beautiful accent on, in Jeff’s case, this rocking chair.
I would love the opportunity to pursue The Scott Hamilton Chase Fellowship. Being the daughter of an immigrant, I understand the existence of the knowledge and language barrier. I would love to teach a class for canal moms. I would help the adult learners, who are not fluent and literate in English, to communicate in English; so that they can not only meet their personal goals, but their employment, community, and academic goals too.
Change is difficult. To many, including myself, persevering through a significant change is one of the most challenging experiences you may encounter throughout your lifetime. That being said, it is not always something to fear. At some point you must come to your senses and accept that your path in life will be altered and things aren’t always going to go your way. But that's just how life is and if there's one realization I’ve come to so far, it is that maintaining a positive mindset is essential to getting over any obstacles that stand in your way. In my case, the most impactful experience I have been through thus far was the divorce of my parents.
Aaron Downing is one very unique man that has given the chance to be able to talk to us about his family experience with many disability problems, he has about seven children, and only like three have a mental illness, not only that but he is married to a woman who is deaf. What amazes me about both of their relationship is how they have found new unique ways to connect with each other, like using their mental illness as a way to make each other laugh, I still remember that Aaron talked about how his wife was working in the army in the department of communications, he still cannot explain how his deaf wife got the job.
Boiling down the wealth inequality to geography may sound crazy, but Jared Diamond's theory has facts to support it. Geographic luck is the idea that people in some areas are geographically lickyer, causing them to be richer. Jared Diamond's theory is correct. This is true because of the shape of civilizations, distribution of domesticable animals, and location of cereal crops.
Even though he was disappointed him and mom were very happy. My mom wanted me to have a unique name that not many people had as a name. My mother wanted it spelt a certain way to make it trick people on how to say and spell it. By having my named spelt that way made people that I never knew ask me how you say it and how to spell it later on. Even though my name was Alyson my family called me Geezer. My dad was the first one that started calling me that. I had many different nicknames that my whole family would call me. My grandma would call me Tinkerbell, my grandpa would call me Swiper, and all my aunts and uncles called me Ally. The nickname that I loved the most is Geezer because it is like a dog name but still fits my
My mother and father were out for breakfast at J&M cafe with some good friends here in Portland. My parents were talking about there plans for a baby, and asked if they were going to have one, they said they couldn't. And my father asked what he was going to name the baby. They said “Finley.” My parents sat there in awe about how much they liked that name. A couple days later they called and asked if they could possibly use that name for me. They said “Yes, that would be beautiful.” And that's how my name
Why is there so much inequality in the world, where some societies have so much, while others have so little? Jared Diamond, a UCLA professor, spent 30 years trying to answer this question. During this time, he traveled around the world in learning new things about countries that led to his answer; geography. During one of his expeditions to what he calls his second home, New Guinea, he met a man named Yali who asked him a question that has puzzled him for years. Yali’s question was, “Why is that you white people developed much cargo and brought it to New Guinea, but we black people had little cargo of our own?" Diamond dedicated his life to these questions and when he came to an answer, he said, “History followed different courses for different
Do you wonder why we chose David Carson and Paula Scher? As we mentioned before, the reason of choosing these two artists is because of getting inspiration from them in Helvetica movie and also because their work share some similarities and differences that it’s interesting to know. In the movie David Carson mentioned that “he had no formal training and he did what make sense to him”. (Helvetica movie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWE34Eg8On) As a contemporary designer he worked in a modern style and he experimented different stuff to find his own unique style. This seems interesting because among all the designers who had experience and studied years and years of design, David Carson became successful by just throwing random stuff on a page.
My aunt Kara picked my name out, and my mom picked out my middle name. They named my middle name the same as my mom's middle name, Elizabeth. Some of the nicknames my family
