The marriage did not last long, after the divorce Charles was sent to an all boy school. At an early age Manson showed signs of a serial killer, in elementary he would gain followers of mostly gullible girls and tell them to attack other girls but when teachers questioned Manson he would tell them that the girls had done the acts on their own will and he had nothing to do with it.
Charles Manson’s teen years and 20’s had been mostly served behind bars for petty crimes. At age 32 Charles Manson was released from a ten year sentence and was eager to create a family. Charles had pulled in multiple girls who had been runaways or lonely girls who just wanted to be a part of something bigger. Later as the family grew Manson had also pulled in men. The more the men watched Manson they became uncomfortable with the power he had over the family. Gullible girls began believing Manson was Jesus

The men and women had left a very brutal scene behind in the Polanski home. Found in the home was the bodies of actress Sharon Tate who was 8 months pregnant at the time, writer Wojciech Frykowski and his partner, Abigail Folger; and celebrity hairstylist Jay Sebring. Polanksi himself was away in London shooting a film. The very next day they had committed another brutal murder in the LaBianca home where he left a very similar image of mangled bodies of a husband and wife and the words death to pigs, rise, and helter skelter written on the walls with the blood of the victims. Charles Manson and his family were charged with murder and conspiracy, they received the death penalty but was later reduced to a life
Ultimately this left Charles in the care of his aunt and uncle. They tried to teach him values and lessons however when Manson returned to his mother at the age of eight many of these concepts he was learning had went out the window. Charles and his mother moved around quite a bit as she dated and still tried to enjoy her freedoms in life. Things took a turn when she finally met someone who stayed around but did not want Charles in the picture, within the next few days his mother pled to the judge that she was not stable enough to take care of him and he was sent to the Gibault Home for Boys in Indiana. At this point Charlie was now twelve and wanting to be back with his mother he escaped the home and went back to her home. Unfortunately she still did not want him in her care and took him back to the home with promises that she would be back soon. With much resentment and anger Charlie then decided to run away for good, not looking back to his mother at all. This would start Manson’s life living on the streets, in and out of reform schools and juvenile centers. He ended up in the Indiana School for boys, his stay here Mason describes as the

It was believed that they were associated with cult-quasi-religious groups, that came about in the 1960’s and they are still here today. They believe they know what the future of the planet is, when it will end, and how. In a biography of Charles Manson and the Manson Family it said this, “In August 1969 a series of Hollywood murders were to shock the world and tarnish the 60’s free love and peace legacy.”(Biography Channel 2013.) Charles Manson himself never committed any murders with his own hands, but the murders were committed under his order by several of his most obedient
In the 1960’s, Manson gathered hundreds of followers which he called “The Family.” They lived on a deserted ranch. Most of Manson’s followers were impressionable young females and he used LSD and amphetamines to help manipulate and convince them to act out his wishes. He slowly broke down his follower’s beliefs and made them believe that he was Jesus and that a race war was impending. Eventually Manson’s most loyal followers carried out his acts of violence and left seven people dead. In 1969, police raided the ranch on suspicions of vandalism, unaware of the murders committed until after the arrests. Charles Manson has been labeled “The Icon of Evil.” (Rosenberg, 2009)

Charles Manson became known worldwide after helping commit numerous gruesome murders near Hollywood, California. Although, Manson’s legal troubles did not start from that point, he had been in and out of institutions and prisons since the age of twelve, for many different reasons. “For, let out of prison in 1967, the year of ‘the summer of love,’ he became the most hated and vilified figure in America, a symbol of everything that had gone wrong in the ‘60s” (Smith). Even though his release from prison was short lived, he managed to do a lot of damage during his time of freedom. Manson received a life sentence in May of 1970 for the nine murders he helped execute (Baughman). Charles Manson is a well recognized name across the United States.

He is what society would call a very, actually, extremely creepy guy, and today is his birthday.
When you hear the name Charles Manson, you think of one the wickedest man to ever walk the face of the earth. His name is well known to the hearts of America; not in a positive way. More in a heart breaking and terrified way. Manson’s childhood, his behavior, his ability to control and manipulate people the way he did is something no one could understand. He organized a cult like family and constructed them to do brutal things to several people. Here is one question for the brain, is Charles Manson a killer? Did he use his looks to prey on young innocent girls to do his dirty work?
Despite the horrid nature of the cult, people’s insecurities lead them to trust in Manson’s community, which his “family” viewed as founded on a sense of belonging and trust. For instance, one of Manson’s most loyal followers named Patricia recalled that “[Manson] always made someone feel loved...he was like Christ” (10:11). This comparison of Manson as a Savior that cares for and sacrifices for his people establishes an essential characteristic of a successful community- care for each other- that his followers have not been getting enough of. Since Manson’s community provides this love they are desperate for and have been deprived of, his followers truly believe Manson is benefitting them, and they are grateful for his guidance. Furthermore,
In the eyes of the media Charles Manson and Marilyn Monroe are essentially the same. That’s what Brian wanted to create. Someone that is able to both induce fear and be someone that could be looked up to.
Charles Manson had a way of picking up on people’s weaknesses and fears, and used it against them. He preyed on vulnerability and, as Linda James said, he offered them wealth and perfect relationships (Fennel, 1993). And, although his claims were extraordinary, he was able to attract a good amount of followers.
Don’t drink, don’t smoke, don’t curse, don’t kill and you will be accepted by God and relieved to Heaven, the ultimate utopia. Marilyn Manson, America’s devil-worshipping rock star clearly did not get the memo. Known for his most outrageous onstage acts and spiteful philosophies he influenced the tragic Columbine school massacre with his wild, confronting music that preaches drugs, sex, violence and death involving innocent slaughter and suicide. Manson is the true madman in this world who is continually on the hunt for teenagers’ innocence creating an intense following of young Satanists.
