Characteristics Of A Hero

A hero is someone who has given her or his life to something bigger than oneself. A quote from Joseph Campbell, this quote can represent a lot for a definition of what a hero is. A hero is someone who gives something for something they believe is bigger. That's my representative of that quote.

A hero is someone who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Today, hero’s still do exist. Most of the time whenever you hear the word “hero” you automatically think of a superhero which is okay, but those are not the only hero’s. People do not have to fight battles to be a hero, you can be one by helping someone out, being somebody a person looks up to, or simply someone who made a change for the world.

A hero is one of many people. From firefighters to comic superheros, heros can be anything of anyone’s imagination. For instance such as Johnny from the outsiders, he was just a typical average teenager until he saved thouse kids. That is being a hero, taking action when it’s needed.

They don’t have any superpowers or special abilities, but the can reach the heart of others and inspire them with their stories. Three ideas that define a hero are humility, mindset, and selflessness.

Those who are not willing to go through hardships, be selfless, courageous and make sacrifices for others aren’t heroes. Throughout the hero's journey, a hero must go through many hardships. Any heroic deed involves danger and sacrifice, and a hero needs courage to overcome the odds they face. To be a hero, one must put other’s needs before their own, and stay true to what they think is right.

A hero can really just be the one main character in a story or in real life that makes an effort to make everything right and helps everyone. Ultimately, a hero is someone who helps others in times of need and is determined to help them, no matter the obstacle or challenges ahead.

A hero is not a follower of people, does not sit around being lazy, and is not unwise about making decisions. There are three characteristics which I would use to analyze a hero; leadership, passion, and sage.
