The characters in Scythe by Neal Shusterman, have strong and distinct personalities which unquestionably shape the book. The main characters are Citra, Rowan, Scythe Currie and Scythe Goddard. Rowan Damisch is more reserved. He is cautious with his words. But he is selfless in the way that he puts others he loves ahead of himself. Scythe Currie is compassionate, humble and wise. She does what is best for others and the whole society overall. Scythe Goddard is egocentric and immoral. He cares only for himself. Similarly, he also does inhumane things just for his own enjoyment.

War, “the blood-swollen god” (Crane 27), is one of the most controversial yet beneficial acts to humanity. Many exalt this deity by liturgical forms of media such as video games or entertainment on the television. Nevertheless, their praise cannot eradicate the casualties of war. To further explain, the Iraq War has fluctuated the American economy by costing one trillion dollars and six hundred and fifty thousand people ( Kelley & Ingersoll par 1, Iraq par 3). The depression of lives and money has credited war with several demerits because many citizens would rather live passively in a nation that will be “Okay For Now” (Schmidt 1). Numerous works of literature have narrated differing opinions of war; however, one novel in particular,

A Raisin in the Sun is about the dream of the Youngers, a black family living in South Side Chicago in the 1950s. Like any family, the Youngers’ dream is a stitched-together mosaic; as they impatiently wait for the arrival of an insurance check for ten thousand dollars, each member of the Younger clan has a slightly different dream for the money. Yet when the check actually arrives, their dreams collide. Even as the dream of each relation moves closer to reality, the family fragments. The struggle between material desires and family ideals escalates into a heavy and bittersweet drama. There are a couple of prominent themes throughout A Raisin in the Sun. There’s the obvious theme to follow and work hard for your dreams, the importance of having a healthy family relationship and pride.
In the scene where he met his mother, he didn’t get much out of her. He didn’t receive his answers as to why she left him. Overall, this was a significant the reason for his journey. This didn’t cause Antwone to get filled with answer, he proudly, explained to her all of his accomplishments and that he was a good man. He did not revert back to anger by the lack of response to his questions. Previously Atwone, would’ve have been outraged at someone who ignored him while he was talking. Those past feelings of abandonment, and loneliness was not prevalent in this scene. Atwone exemplified, resilience from most of his pre existing feelings he had towards his mother. This shows tremendous growth in Antwone’s psychosocial development.
