In chapters 15 and 16 of John, Jesus prepared his disciples for his departure. Part of that preparation was disclosure of the coming of the Holy Spirit and his work (John 15:26). Immediately preceding this He referred to the rejection of the Jews in spite of the testimony of the miraculous signs he had performed (15:24-25). He then made reference to the testimony of the coming Holy Spirit whom he described as the “Advocate” (15:26) and instructed the apostles that they too must testify. It was the Spirit that fueled their later fulfillment of Jesus’ instructions and accredited their testimony with miracles. The Spirit of Truth bore witness to the truth of their words with his power. In this way, he was, indeed, their advocate as well as their companion in ministry and in their walk with God. …show more content…
The Christian walk cannot be walked by human effort alone. It must be fueled by the Life of God. Opposition, whether from the flesh or from Satanic influence, cannot be overcome by human energy or enterprise. Jesus warned the disciples of the opposition they would face (16:1-3). He told them they would be reminded of his words by the Spirit and that the Spirit would also convict (16:4-11). The believer must rely on the strength of God within while waiting and praying for conviction to do the work of motivating themselves and others to repentance for wrong doing and poor character. It is the Spirit whose job it is to draw man to repentance through his convicting work. It is by the Spirit that the miracle

(Note: Modern students can be excused for finding a discussion about tariff policy a bit boring. This section covers the first of many tariff battles throughout the 1800s. Tariffs today are not a big deal because there is a worldwide trend to reduce duties on imports and because the government gets most of its revenue through income taxes. However, there was no income taxation until 1913 and the government therefore depended almost exclusively on tariff duties for its revenue. So it’s important to have a general understanding.)

"A man can only endure so much before his will is broken and he can not push farther... we, sir, are here to test this one's will, and in turn, reveal the length of his abilities". In The First Part Last by Angela Johnson, a 16 year old boy named Bobby, whose surname the book does not reveal, is given the onus of taking care of a child that his girlfriend, Nia, had given birth to before they were separated due to medical issues with her body. The story begins with introducing Bobby, and we soon find out that because of the situation at hand, he must become a man to cope with the stress and the potential regret that comes with having a child at 16. So Bobby was forced to become a man, in order to truly reveal the length of his abilities, and
A book adds suspense whenever a great alteration comes about that forces a character to change their present situation. "The First Part Last" By Angela Johnson is one book where the situations in both the beginning, and the end vary in level of intensity and emotion from all characters involved. Only, in this book, The main character, Bobby, has to improve himself, so he can help his daughter, Feather, grow up with a parent who was there. To do this Bobby must change, become not just a man, but a good man. I think that for a sixteen year old kid, he did alright. i intend to prove it using a few symbols that i found within the pages of this book. With these ideals, i intend to state my case that Bobby did in fact become a man, and start both himself, and his daughter on the right path.

Just when there’s no hope for Humanity, The Holy Spirit (the third Godhead in the trinity) sent from the father as a promise to aid humankind to inspire and empower Theophilus (The ones who loves God) to spread the “Good News” on the Salvation of Jesus Christ. The necessity of the Holy Spirit is to increase effectiveness of churches and personal testimony and become witnesses in all the Earth. In addition, it gave the disciples a power to perform miracles and healing.
The early churched mentioned in Acts 2:1, demonstrates what it is like to be brave through faith in Jesus, was a model of unity in believers, and showed the power of prayer while they nervously anticipated the arrival of the Holy Ghost. These people were the body of Christ coming together in its infant and earliest form. Jesus had been crucified by the local authorities less than two months previous to this, and at this point the disciples no longer had their leader to guide them. Yet, rather than allowing the negative feelings of doubt, fear, or anxiety to limit their capabilities, the disciples spent their time together in prayer and expecting the coming of the Helper. It would have been easy for any number of the disciples to go about with their everyday lives as they lived before they experienced Jesus, but they allowed their faith in what was promised to them to empower them to be courageous in

It is apparent that the Holy Spirit was mainly involved in empowering believers to become a witness of Christ and spreading the gospel. Therefore, Luke highlights that the Holy Spirit was a gift to the apostles whose function was to permit them to perform miracles and communicate the Gospel in various languages. Further, the Holy Spirit is vital in lives of believers today as he speaks to them, guides the believers on how to lead a holy life, and preach the word of God. Currently, most believers honor and acknowledge the presence of the Holy Spirit in their
At dinner’s conclusion, Phillip asked his parents if he could be dropped back off at the records archives once again after Saturday school class let out. Curious as to why he needed to return to the archives, Phillip’s father inquired. “Oh, nothing much,” Phillip told him. “I was just interested in finding out a little more about how life was before the volunteers, is all,” he responded trying to sound as nonchalant as possible. “I kind of got caught up in some of the holograms and the video files the records department had available. I wasn’t able to finish watching all of them last Saturday when I was working on my report for Mr. Belich. So, I’m kind of hoping I can this weekend.”
