Description of the book: Each of the characters in the book The Lemonade War are different and unique in their own ways. Jessie and Evan are the main characters. Jessie, is math smart. I choose the book “Fig” because after starting the book it kept me intrigued. I’m not an avid reader, so when something catches my attention I try to stick with it and see where it leads me as the reader. Chapter Thirteen was a chapter I enjoyed, because even though this book is a sad story, I found a happy moment within the chapter that changed Fig in a constructive manner. I usually try to find positives in a negative situation and Fig in this chapter found herself making a promise of personal change. A promise she made to her uncle to better her life and care for herself.
This story was my favorite because, it was a little scary at times and my favorite type of books to read are horror books. I also liked this book because it had a lot of those moments where you can’t put the book down, it is to good to not read.
People often think of family as positive, loving, and with no flaws. However, there is almost a stereotype that all families love each other and there aren’t problems or challenges in a family. Sometimes families put people through challenges and some families aren’t “perfect”. In the book Make Lemonade by Virginia Euwer Wolff, Jolly has two kids and goes through challenges with her family. Most careful readers can see how Jolly has these challenges with her kids and how she is far off from the “perfect” family. She goes through many of these challenges in life and finds a way to overcome them. Jollys family shapes her identity because the challenges she faces ends up making her stronger. Jeremy and Jilly challenging her, LaVaughn helping her out, and her past family all shape her identity.
For the most part, the novel was very enjoyable. One aspect of it that I loved was that the storyline was extremely intense, which always compelled me to find out what would happen next. For example,
I was not really into reading at the time, but I remember that my teacher made us read for at least fifteen minutes at the beginning of every class. If we did not have a book there were many books from her library to choose from. I believe this was one of the first books that I read in her class, and think I chose this book in particular because it stood out. I mean the title itself already piqued my interest. I honestly did not think that I was going to enjoy it as much as I did, It was such a bizarre read with all the strange events and abnormal characters. And in a weird way, the strangeness of the story was what I really liked. I do not think I would have liked it as much if it was not for that. It was one of the first chapter books that I did not have to force myself to finish. This was also one of the first books I read that really got me into loving to read. I just loved getting lost in another world and I wanted to keep reading books that did that for me.
I started reading the book Ashfall because it seemed like it would have been a good book about survival. I love reading book that makes me want to read more. Just by reading the summary of the book Ashfall I was wanting more.
“For a full hour, he poured lemonade. The world is a thirsty place, he thought as he nearly emptied his fourth pitcher of the day. And I am the Lemonade King" (pg.96). “It's like you miss a year of your life" (pg. 24). The quotes above show both Jessie and Evan’s point of view in this story. These quotes also show how a “war” between a brother and sister started. This book improvises how families work together. The Lemonade War by, Jacqueline Davies. The problem in the book Lemonade War, is two kids (a brother and a sister) are having a fight. These kids learn, that in the end family and friends always stick together. Reading this book helps you understand the importance of family. How this fight starts is a letter from Evan and Jessie's school.
This book combines characteristics of a suspense thriller with those of a tragedy and is a very interesting book to read. I liked the detail that the author went into about the psychological aspects of the characters in making the decisions that they made. I thought that the characters were well developed and I liked the detail that the author went into about the settings. A detailed setting can really increase the intensity and realism of a situation in a book. This book contained some difficult words that lower level readers might not understand. I would recommend that anyone looking for a suspense/tragedy oriented book should look to this one. The beginning is a somewhat tedious read, but that is only because the author takes so much time to develop the
The author’s style of writing is straightforward and to the point and the novel is unique because it is written through the different perspectives of the four main characters. The switching of perspectives throughout the book is what made the book so hard to put down. I could see, compare and contrast how the characters themselves feel about the situation. As this goes on, the reader can comprehend the characters’ personalities better and their view on the other characters. If this story was written from just one point of view, one wouldn’t be able to figure out each character’s thoughts and perception of people around them.
4. I believe the reader is hooked in a very precise and elaborate way, of basically explaining to the reader, that we ourselves are our own ticket in life or our own downfall. We process the skills required to succeed, if only we can open our minds and understand the base of the problems correctly, in order to find a fortunate situation. It appealed to me and worked greatly to give me a better understanding on perception, and the way it impacts individual understanding of reality.
Personally, the book taught me a lot about how people deal with situations when under pressure, people’s need for power and how easy it really if for a war to break out and I found that in my mind I could easily link what was going

Characters: Although there were a reasonable amount of characters in the story, there were only two that were important and consistent throughout the book. The others didn’t have much of an impact into the story.
Why I chose The Book- I chose this book because I like murder mysteries and it is a
The characters bring a riveting story to life when reading. Throughout the book, I felt emotions left and right for the characters and what they were going through. There is a lot of mystery and questioning that will be answered later in the book, but once its done, there are still many questions being asked. when I look for a book, that is something that stands out to me because I really want to read more, and when you have that reaction to a book, that means it was worth reading. I found this book remarkable because of the behaviors, characteristics, and decisions that the characters make, and I recommend this book to everyone, even if they don’t like to
