One of the service user like to spend most of his time in his room to read his books and watch telly alone.
Independence
One of the service user able to use public transport so he goes to daycentre alone by bus.
One of the service user does cooking for himself twice a week in support of staff.
Respect
We call the service users with that name what they prefer, all of them wants us to use their first name.
All service can practice their religious beliefs in the manner they wish-staff remove their shoes before they enter into the temple too.√

a) The policies and procedures within your own work setting
The legalisation relating to equality, diversity and inclusion originated from the UK government and the European Union. It offers protection from discrimination on disability, age, gender, race and ethnic origin, religion and sexual orientation. The legalisation has implication on all workplaces not only in health and social care.
Compliant with the legislation is written in our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policies.
Health and social care providers (such as Newton House) are required to contain legalisation relating to equality, diversity and discrimination into their policies and procedures.
These procedures offering best practice regarding how work activities must be carried out and they must be followed. If we do not follow

Equality can be defined as ‘the state of being equal, especially in status, rights, or opportunities’ Equality is about ‘creating a fairer society, where everyone can participate and has the opportunity to fulfil their potential’ (DoH, 2004). By eliminating prejudice and discrimination, Genus Care can deliver services that are personal, fair and diverse and help create a society that is healthier and happier. Equality is treating everyone equally irrespective of individual or cultural differences. The right to equal opportunities and not treating everyone the same and recognising everyone as individuals

There are many Legislations, Codes of practice (Some of which are listed below) and also my workplace policies which regulate equality diversity and inclusion within my area of responsibility.The equality and diversity act is the most significant piece of legislation to be introduced for a long time. And has recently be modified it states that all people male or female people from different races, disabled people, people of different ages, gay lesbian, straight and bisexual people or transsexual people. People from different religions or different beliefs, pregnant women,

The higher socio – economic groups are normally more likely to arrange gatherings and events, to introduce the younger generations to the variety of cultures, beliefs and values and therefore embracing them into the very community that they will shape in years to come.

To promote equality , diversity and inclusion in policy and practice , my work place also compliant to other legislation like, Human right act 1998, sex discrimination (gender reassignment) regulations 1999, Employment equality (religion belief) regulations 2003 , Disability discrimination amended act 2005, Equality act 2006, Racial and religious hatred act 2006.
