Reflection 1. What was the biggest challenge faced by your team while using the design process, and why was this a challenge? (100 words) The biggest challenge faced was the lack of direct contact with real world patients and clinicians, which led to an inability to effectively empathise with patients and their needs; a large portion of the design process and the creation of ideas required this empathise stage to understand the patient's needs, which could not be fully grasped due to this constraint. This also led to a slight lack of understanding of the challenges that VAD patients might face. This challenge was mostly remedied by going through VAD online forums. Direct contact with real world patients and clinicians would also have allowed …show more content…
As mentioned before, the lack of contact with patients and clinicians led to a lack of first-hand understanding of the problems faced by LVAD patients, which would have been remedied by speaking to the patients and clinicians. However, due to the time constraints and layout of this assignment we alternately used the design tools provided to empathise with patients. We would also have not evaluated the prototype, design and testing of the final product in such depth, but rather, would have concentrated on just the solution. The step-wise rigidity and tools required to be utilised for this design project would have been replaced with more free-flowing thought and mind maps. After going through the design steps set out, we believe that a more comprehensive and all encompassing final designed was reached. 3. Do you think that design will be of value to the medical profession in the future? If so, why? (200 words) Yes it will. Design is an integral part of technology to enable it to be efficient and comfortable for the patient. Medical technology would not exist without the creativity required to come up with new ideas for advancements in technology. Furthermore, with the fast moving pace of technology, design is imperative to continue improving
Where there an issues to overcome during the design process? (How was the overall result reached?)
1. If you were on the Dynacorp task force, what would be your first choice for an alternative design? What would be your second choice?.
• What mistakes happen during the designing project/mobilization phases? How did these mistakes impact the first 6 weeks of the project? Why is Chen finding the situation so difficult?
Annie Coffey is a 72 year old woman that has developed a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) due to reduced mobility while on bed rest. This assignment will discuss the signs, symptoms, prevention and management of a DVT and the use of warfarin as long term treatment. The assignment will explain what a DVT is and discuss its potential implications. The nurse’s role in the prevention of DVTs will be discussed in detail as well as the nursing management of Annie. The importance of patient education will be highlighted throughout the assignment and important discharge advice while on warfarin will be explained.
Long-term conditions (LTC) are defined as “any ongoing, long-term or recurring condition that can have a significant impact on people’s lives” (National Health Committee NHC, 2007, p. 116). Two out of three adults within NZ have or have had a LTC, resulting in the most prominent cause for hospital admissions, premature deaths and an increase in health expenditure (Auckland District Health Board, 2013). This assignment will cover Olivia’s (pseudo name) experience of living with a LTC and how this has impacted her life. A reflection on learning about LTC will be included as well as a discussion on the implications I may encounter in my future practice when caring for a LTC patient will conclude the assignment.
3) What are some of the difficulties that the Forever Young global advertising and communication team faced throughout the launch process? To what do you attribute these difficulties? The mission of the Forever Young global team was to
Determinists would say that the developments on machinery make doctors lazy because it makes them dependent but instrumentalists would say that it actually makes them more efficient in the work they do. The improvements technology has had on health have saved countless lives. This is clearly demonstrated in the hospital with advancements in the machinery that is used. Equipment, such as heart monitors, has become advanced and is a necessity in health centers to assure the well being of humans. Another example of very advanced technology
Includes the design of health services that impact the way in which services are given. Some of this involves
Living with Long Term Conditions can be extremely challenging; coping with the stigmas surrounding LTCs, and enduring the pain, poor nutrition and depression that can occur simultaneously. Nutrition is one of the most fundamental needs of any individual, and the ability to maintain a proper diet is easily overlooked by health professionals. Pain, if not managed accordingly, can make a patient's life uncomfortable. These factors contribute to depression which worsens the condition of the patient; they may be managing their health but over-looking their well-being (Randall & Ford 2011). The approach to manage a LTC has to include the biological, psychological and sociological impact of the condition on the individual, which is known as the biopsychosocial
This approach was designed to gain further evaluation on already proposed designs, instead of receiving freshly proposed designs. The proposals were submitted and critiqued by an independent committee setup within SETRA.
Who are you designing for? What do they do? Why do they need to product? Research is vital.
The aim of this ten minute reflection is to show my experience of how my mentor and I used the ABCDE approach when dealing with a patient with chest pain. The concept of this ten minute reflection is to outline the areas that I can develop on for my future placements. This ten minute reflection will show my emotional state and my knowledge that I applied in this situation. It will outline my learning and development when in my placement area and help me to decide if a better outcome could have been achieved if I performed differently. From my learning to date, by completing this ten minute reflection it has enabled me to critically analyse my own practice and compare this to what I would of done now upon completion of this module. This reflection has highlighted how much my skills, knowledge and performance has improved from last year. In accordance of the NMC (2008) a pseudonyms will be used in order to protect the patients’ identity.
6. A disadvantage of global teams for product design is that: ease of face to face meetings
The ability to provide our patients with a remarkable patient experience is the number-one responsibility of our staff. Each generation has their own communication style, these styles allows them to provide a remarkable patient experience for all our patients. Without communication tools, each generation is unable to communicate to the patient.
Every application or device in the medical field were made with the use of latest technologies in the computer field and the components used were also are dependent on the computer technologies. Literally 90 percent of medical devices are now digitalized (it means using the
