Whilst carrying out the procedure I felt confident with my practice of the dressing change using the Aseptic technique. Although I was slightly nervous and self-conscious as I was aware that the trained Nurse was observing me, I felt that this did not come across in my body language or my practice. When the Nurse told me that I was not using the Aseptic Non Touch Technique I felt unsure of the whole process which then led to me re-evaluating my practice within this area.

Karen Parra Aug. 9, 2015 Application Essay When I became a CNA I learned how powerful this profession can be, the way nurses influence and touch lives, I wanted to be a nurse because I love helping out others in their time of need. Throughout my experience I have seen how rewarding this profession can be when you care for a patient that appreciates everything you’ve done. Just how the counselors and teachers will take the time to check up on how you doing with your classes and if there is anything I would need help with. Also the faith that this college has with students and always trying to find ways to work around your schedule is great. I have worked as a CNA for almost 4 years and it has allowed me to gain experiences in the nursing field that would

Healthcare systems and the way safe, quality health care is delivered are continually changing to better serve patients and communities. Professional nursing practice is a large component in the healthcare system today. Back in the 1960s, professional nursing leaders tried to adopt the bachelor degree programs as the only educational track to become a registered nurse (Creasia & Friberg, 2011). Due to nursing shortages and demands this motive did not hold fast. Individuals entering the nursing profession today must first decide which educational pathway to take to become a Registered Nurse (RN).
The role of a family nurse practitioner is a fundamental portion of the future of healthcare. The role is clearly not as understood by other healthcare professionals as needed which results in the disagreement if the role of a family nurse practitioner is even required for primary care. As people are getting older, the need for medical professionals that can provide patient care to our ever growing population increases. The need for the role of family nurse practitioners will grow too. The role of the family nurse practitioner, the ability of the FNP to be able to transition into their role.
“Advanced nursing practice is the deliberative diagnosis and treatment of a full range of human responses to actual or potential health problems.” (Calkin, 1984). Advanced nurse practitioners attempt to maximize the use of knowledge and skills and improve the delivery of nursing and health care services. The field of advanced nursing practice differs from basic practice as the former requires clinical specialization at the master’s level. At this level, nurses become expert practitioners whose work includes direct and indirect patient care. Direct patient care involves caring for patients and their families; this is the focus of my section on nurse clinicians. Indirect patient care includes work as an educator, researcher, and a
It is no secret that communication is key when providing direct patient care in a skilled nursing facility. However, there is a noticeable lapse in the communication between the care team when providing care to the individual or groups of individuals. Two main parts of any care team are the registered nurse and the certified nursing assistant, as these are the two people whom have the most direct and impactful roles with residents in a skilled facility. The Registered Nurse and the Certified Nursing Assistant play similar roles in providing patient care, but have different roles in its entirety. The role of the Registered Nurse (RN) is defined as having the competency and skill to provide direct and indirect health care to individuals, their families, and communities around them. Services are also provided designed to give out medications, to promote comfort or healing, promote healing, and to also provide the dignity of their patients and patient’s families (American College of Rheumatology, 2015).
"BOOM!" "BANG!", went my mom of her feet onto the floor! I ran over to help pick her up off the floor. I got her into the bed and checked for any scrapes or bruises. After I got her all patched up and comfortable I came to realize that the last time this happened she hadn't had her medicine in days. So I proceeded to give her the correct medication and stayed over the next few days to nurse her back to health. Over those few days even at a young age, I realized that the medical field was just for me. I enjoyed doing what I did to help my mom and wanted to continue to help others the same way I helped her.
