Censorship Should Be Censored

The portrayal of Christ has been developed throughout the centuries, and is very much influenced by the socio-political and cultural environments. The Byzantine Empire has become a great influence on the use of Christian religious art and architecture, which will be continually built upon and developed through history. Though still influenced by the Classical tradition, Christian art will evolve into a new and widespread style under the rule of Justinian and Theodora. Christ as the Good Shepherd in the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, shows the development of the portrayal of Christ from a humble shepherd to a royal deity, that reflects the influence of the Byzantine Empire, and his role as a ruler over his people.

I believe censorship is permissible in certain circumstances. I find it necessary to censor violent and sexual movies for young children. Im one for scary movie and action & adventure, theyre fun to wacth, its excting. But theyre has to be an age restriction on some of these movies espicially now a days where we need more violence and fighting to find somehting exciting and fun. We have become totally immune to all the violence ont elevision. Children however need to be cesnured frmrom thi immunity. Not only will it be more likely for them to have violent tendencies, i find it inhuman for us to put a child through a scne where someone is getting sawed in half. Thta to me is a form of child abuse and torture. Putting your 2 year old child in front of a saw movie is outright torture, children are delicate beings they can face trauma this way. Everythign we see on the media effect our lives in one way or anpther this efdeec is even greatr when started at a young age.

Censorship on television in the United States has been an issue ever since the television was invented. The public holds a variety of stances on the topic, and no matter what law is ever passed regarding censorship, it will never suit the needs of everyone. Some believe that censorship violates individual rights in the law, and others believe that censorship should be available through members in the family, not the government. On the other hand, some people strive to maintain government regulation of censorship. Television censorship is significant because it holds the future of our country. If channels continue to be censored, our rights will be violated. If not, then the future generations may change

The essay, ‘“Information Is the Alpha and Omega of Our Work”: Bolshevik Surveillance in Its Pan-European Context’ written by Peter Holoquist, discusses the topic of Surveillance in Russia and how it effected her people. During the time of Stalin – Holoquist believes that surveillance was used to manipulate people, bringing forward ‘the “new man”’ (Suny, 52) In this piece – Holoquist states that there was little trace of the belief in public opinion. Instead, the government did what they believed was best, and all should follow.

Censorship, a constantly talked about debate that justifies itself positively and negatively. It is all depended upon perception and your moral intent of what is displayed. Society contradicts itself frequently, the want to be unique and different feels extremely self-fulfilling but can sometimes be offensive to certain individuals due to Religion, Tradition, Opinions etc. We often choose not to offend people in order to alleviate problems and disagreements. Censorship also mutes our words, usually we can’t express ourselves truthfully in a social manner due to the broad expansion of social media today. The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) agency is an organization that monitors and regulates the content that individuals put up on social media such as television, radio, internet, books etc. This is a positive outcome of Censorship due to the fact that it protects individuals from being bullied and mistreated on

Censorship refers to the regulation of freedom of expression or any other information that may be sensitive or morally inaccurate to the people. This information can be considered immoral or politically inconvenient by religious groups, the government, ethnic communities and media outlets. Censorship originates back in ancient times in many different countries such as Rome and China. Censorship was mainly used for political, social and religious purposes. For example, Christians used censorship to defend against non-Christian rulers threats.

All children are born with innocence; they have no knowledge of anything bad in the world. Some television programmers seem to oblivious to this fact. The morbid content shown on popular television shows and movies today is incriminating evidence of this. It is as if the concept of censorship is foreign to them. The legal definition of censorship is the act of banning any or all media resulting from the presumption that its content is perceived to be immoral by the Federal Government of the United States. Censorship in the common world, is like racism, there is a little grey area. To pass however, there will be no more mention of this grey area; just the words “No censorship”. Source C, D, and F fit into my mindset. As humans, censorship is harmful to our society.

Although it is okay to censor things that could potentially harm a certain group of people or person, there is a line that shouldn’t be crossed. Censoring certain video games and music interferes with the power of free speech and can be argued as unconstitutional. Censorship is censoring anything that may display any profane, graphic, or obscene content such as nudity, and graphic hate, speech, or symbol. It is a topic that has many different pros and cons as well as many arguments as to if it should be allowed or not and if it is interfering with the First Amendment of protecting freedom of speech, religion, assembly, press, and petitio. According to the Constitution,

Children’s innocence must be protected by censorship. The debate on whether censorship is beneficial to society often compiles to a few main reasons. Subjects like freedom of speech, women’s rights, and children’s innocence is brought into question when discussing censorship. It is an important debate because what is censored influences societal beliefs of what is right and wrong. It decides what truths are revealed publicly. Some people think censorship is beneficial because it supposedly protects children, but it is actually useless because it underestimates children’s tolerance, witholds information, oversexualizes women, and sugarcoats the truth.

As the new generation has a fill of new technology and new ways of communication, some argue that these new forms of technology could be harmful to the youth of the world; however, many people argue that the media being portrayed is harmful and vulgar for people who are either watching or listening to some sort of media. This has developed to the argument that censorship is important to shield certain groups from being exposed to raunchy or inappropriate material, but is that always what is best? Shielding certain groups from a show or movie constantly due to something controversial could take away a moment of learning and could possibly stop the group from learning about morals and what is right and wrong. Today, censorship is in place in more ways than you can imagine. As mentioned previously, movies, music, television, and more are filtered one way or another. Some people go to such lengths as illegal means of spreading materials deemed inappropriate for a certain viewing audience.

Imagine a society without censorship, where everyone knows each other’s secrets, it would be lethal for society. What would happen if people knew one’s weaknesses?. There is evil that needs to be censored. Censorship is necessary in our society for many different reasons. It protects nations, prevents conflict in society, it protects the morals/privacy of people, and it is also helpful for children.
