I do know Cecily Lingard very well, that widow isn’t someone that can trust, she act like if someone is against her and she doesn’t do her job but hired other to work for her and she profit from them. She seems evil, and I am sure she is responsible for everything that is happing in our village. She might have committed those magical actions. Even though, she has good relationship with her tenant, I am pretty sure is evil. She might be responsible of the illness of that child because the way she acts is not trustable. I rarely see her at church for the worships, so I really doesn’t think she is a good
The character Madame Defarge plays a role as one of the leading villains in Charles Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities, whose actions turn out to be one of the major causes of the French Revolution in the book. The main influence of Madame Defarge's hatred is fueled by a self-centered issue that was germinated by another family who happens to be aristocratic. In Charles Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities, Madame Defarge is justified in her hatred against the St. Evremonde family because her sister was raped and her brother was killed by the two patriarchs.
Cheryl Fynn is Maddie’s mother in the book. At the beginning, she can be described as uncaring, depressed, and addicted. For example, “ Still, it’s not like Ma takes care of herself. She smokes, drinks, but mostly doesn’t care.”, Maddie says. It also shows this trait when Maddie states, “ Ma won’t even answer the door for sweet Mrs. Duncan, who used to bring over cookies and baked goods all the time.”
Marie Lu’s novel, Legend, is focused on two main characters, Day (Daniel Atlan Wing) and June Iparis. June and her older brother, Metias, are orphans, since Metias is a captain in the government, this always leaves June at home alone or at school acting out. On the night that Day decides to steal the medicine, Metias is on duty and
If one had to fight in the war would one play pretend? Lobel does. Lobel is a minor character in fallen angels. He is Jewish and suspected homosexual. Lobel is a static character. He hardly changes until the end of the book when he has to kill a cong. Lobel joins the army to get away from his father and to try to change his father thoughts. Lobel has an adequate impact in the book. He is put in this book for people to relate to. Lobel is rebuffed, angry and scared. Without him, it would just be another war story.
Timidity plays a big part in the first portion of the novel. Clara Lemlich seems to be nothing more than a timid young girl working in her family's shop, but she proves to be more than what meets the eye. Clara is full of aspiration and yearns for an education, but she learns to keep these hopes and dreams to herself due to her severely stern parents. On page 14, Clara expresses herself by saying “How can I tell Mama who toils sunup to sundown to be a good mother a good wife that this life (her life) is not enough for me, that I dream instead of words ideas a life that stretches far beyond the bounds of this shtetl?” Clara seems to be torn between disappointing her beloved parents, and showing them who she really is, but most importantly
The Glass Castle is a memoir written by Jeannette Walls. Family cycles are bad habits or habits that have no benefits that a family member tries to stop, but always does it again and again. The quote that I'm about to show you is an example of a family cycle. “It was around that time dad got fired from his job, then he got fired from his second job, then his third” (Walls 110). This quote shows us how the father of the family always loses his job for not showing up or for being drunk.
This quote shows how confident Janie is with her appearance. She believes she was a beautiful woman. The reader can see that this phrase has a deeper meaning of how Janie feels toward her character.
Why would Madeline “Grace” Webb decide to runaway from her house and hide in a dumpster? Grace Webb has been seen as the brave lady for her, brave acts throughout the book. Grace is a character courage, one we can all relate to at one point. Throughout the book, Grace’s emotions might change but her morals do not. Though hardship, toil and betrayal, Grace always finds the good in every situation she may be in.
On the topic of Lina and her mother’s discussion, Lina’s mother explained the kind deeds the young Soviet Union soldier, Kretzsky has done for her such as driving off sexual harassing soldiers and giving her mother a ride back to the shelter, as well as receiving an unpleasant consequence from the commander. However, Lina would not acknowledge his generous acts as her hatred for him has been burning since the day she learned his name. With a loathing mindset towards Kretzsky, Lina would not genuinely process any word her mother was saying and instead, she strictly states that the Soviet deserved the punishment. Mother, disappointed in Lina’s response decided to quote a saying that her father would most likely say if he was with them at that moment.
“With a compelling plot, a strong sense of place, and vivid characters, the novel brings to life Hitler’s inexorable rise to power and its impact on an intelligent German family forced to reconsider its loyalties.” written by Kathryn Lasky, the author of Ashes.(NEW, 3) In this novel, we are introduced to compelling characters. Every human being is affected by the world around them. One of the main characters of the novel (and the disguised antagonist,) Julia Snyde, was no exception. In Joanne Harris’ novel Gentlemen and Players, Julia Snyde was majorly affected by the way she was raised and by her place in society. As a child, Julia’s father mistreated her, and because of this, she went through both mental and physical changes. She began to act out and sneak into St. Oswald’s, leading to her meeting and becoming friends with Leon in an attempt to fit in.
Each of the residents of Huron Square welcomed the newcomers graciously. That evening too, Surina met her remarkable next-door neighbor, Gowan Carney, who appeared to be in his late eighties. Notably, he wore orthotic shoes as one leg was considerably shorter than the other and consequently, he needed to walk with a cane. Furthermore, a spinal curvature curbed his height. He had the overall unmistakable air of a Gnaritonian with a leonine mane of hair and huge incandescent eyes that shrouded his other facial features. Moreover, his sprightly energy gave him the impression of relishing every second of being alive with every fiber in his body.
In the book the Glass Castle it seems like the author Jeannette Walls is the only one in the family that still has hope and faith in her father. On page 79 the Father tells Jeanette, “There are times when I think that you’re the only one around who still has faith in me”(Walls 79). When I read this line I noticed that the dad is very focused on his mission to find gold even though he might know that his family might be mad at him because he isn’t making any money because he quit his job. Also this quote is important because it shows that the Father has trust in Jeannette and he thinks that she is the only one that is truthful and agrees with him all the time, unlike the rest of the family how they have kind of lost hope on his big idea that
Have you ever been “schooled” before? When you are schooled you learn a lesson often from something you did or forgot to do. Many characters in the novel have been schooled, therefore, the title “Schooled” is appropriate for this novel.
