Going off to college is probably one of the best things a person can do to further their education. The promise of a degree from a university seems achievable but is shadowed with the many challenges that come with a higher edification. Often many college students find themselves bothered by these obstacles which can determine whether the college student succeeds or not. There are many endeavors in college but it depends on how the student reacts to these situations.

Although I do admit that at first I may have thought that community college was irrelevant and unnecessary, I now maintain that attending a community college is a huge advantage, and prepares you to attend a higher school to further your career education. For example, attending a community college can be extremely beneficial if you are not sure on what career path you want to take. It can help you narrow down your options in the first two years by taking general classes and electives. In doing this, once you transfer into a four year school, you can focus on classes that are career specific without the hassle of general education classes. Although some might argue that you can do all the same by jumping right into a four year school, I would reply that by attending community college first will help you save on college expenses as well as getting all of the basic courses out of the

The last major benefit of community college that Jenkins brings up is the financial benefit. Universities tend to cost a little more than community colleges so by attending community colleges, students are not having to go into debt as much. Not only does tuition cost less, but you can live at home, saving you even more. Jenkins believes that if it weren’t for community colleges, tens of thousands of students would not be able to afford to go to college at all.

Society today is often very pressuring towards young adults when it comes to attending college. Maybe it’s because it is the most appropriate idea for people. College provides the average human with a higher satisfaction of life due to the experience and the positives outcomes than that of someone who chooses not to go to college. Community college was created to develop and prepare highly skilled, qualified students to involve in the workforce to make the economy develop and grow successfully. Students from diverse background can benefit from attending a Community college. For example, community college offers quite a few general classes or remedial classes that a four year university would not offer and students are able to pay less money to take any courses that are necessary for them to complete their degree or certification.

Is it beneficial to attend community college before attending a university or is it a waste of time? There is a huge debate on whether or not attending community college is worth the time, or if it is as wasteful as rumored. While some people argue that it is not worth attending a community college before a university, I believe that it is beneficial. It helps students transition from high school to college life as well as encourage them to further their education.

Grades are significantly influenced by study habits, motivation, organization, and level of effort as seen in (Capella, Wagner & Kusmierz, 1982; Culler & Holahan, 1980; Astin, 1971b, 1975b). Grades tend to “reflect not only requisite intellectual skills but also desirable personal work and attitudes” (Pascarella, et. al, 388). There is evidence to support grades of undergraduates success will lead to the student earning a bachelor’s degree and future graduate degrees.

College is awesome in many different ways. When you are in college, you have the independence and freedom to do anything that you would like to do. Another good thing about college is the variety of courses that different colleges offer, and also chance to focus on what you really want to do as a career. Although all colleges are different, they all have to same goal. To help and to see students become successful.

I believe that community colleges play an important role in higher education in many ways. First, community colleges fill a niche that most four-year colleges or universities do not, which is to provide career training for the skilled trades and jobs that require associate degrees. This results in a well-trained workforce in the community and provides students with opportunities to follow their interests. In addition, with the rising costs of tuition, community colleges offer a less expensive option, giving economically disadvantaged students the chance to attend school and allowing students who intend to continue on to a four-year school the chance to complete required courses at less cost.

The first example is college helps people figure out who they are. This could mean multiple things. For example, college has helped myself realize what I love to do in my free time. To start, I love being active. I have been able to play hours of basketball and also racquetball. In high school, I got cut from the freshman basketball team. Now I am able to play against some of the most athletic people at Kansas State in basketball. Also, when I was in high school I did not know how to play racquetball; however, ever since college I played around three times a week. This lead to me winning the intramural racquetball tournament. College also helps people grow as a person in the school aspect. For example, going into college, I was not very sure if I was going to like getting a geology major. However, after the first week of my geology class, I knew geology was the major for me. I am so glad I stuck with it because it is so interesting and it has a good job market. Also, it has improved my work ethic in life and in school. For starters, I have a hard time learning a subject or topic right when I learn it. For some people they already knew it or they do not have to study much. So in order for myself to understand it, I have to review the notes every day after class. Overall, having to work a little harder in school, has improved my work ethic in school, and also in outside of school. That is my last main point in this

We are taught as kids that we have to do well in school to get into a good college, which leads to a good paying job, which the leads to a stable life, which eventually leads to a happy life. Our teachers tell us our main goal is to go to college to have a happy life in the future. They never tell us that college isn't the most important thing, forget health and well being. We have to work our butts off to meet the high standards of what good colleges want. All of these standards can affect our sleep schedules, well being, a normal social life, and overall sanity.
