Have you ever been cyberbullied? Cyberbullying or online harassment has been known to have serious effects on mental health, cause depression, and possibly end in suicide. I’m going to go over some effects of cyberbullying, but also what some effects can cause. In today’s world, there is an act known as ‘cyberbullying’. This act consists of degrading, slandering, berating, and/or even threatening, etc. over the internet. Cyberbullying is usually done over well-known social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat. Although there are always reasons as to why a person is cyberbullying, usually stemming from personal issues, that still doesn’t excuse the act itself. I’ve personally seen people go through this and the effects can sometimes be disastrous. I’ve witnessed words being read over a status bring someone to tears. In my own opinion, cyberbullying is a huge reason as to why some people commit suicide. People don’t realize that the words they say could potentially be someone’s breaking point. One effect cyberbullying can have is depression. Depression is when, in my opinion, you don’t really know what’s going on with you, you just know something doesn’t feel right. When a person is cyberbullied daily, they may start to feel depressed. Now, depression itself can have its own effects. It can cause you to lose or gain an appetite, it can cause you to be fatigued, and it can cause you to distance yourself from your family and friends. Although depression can cause many other things also. Depression alone can sometimes even result in suicide. I’ve always been a firm believer of being kind. We never know what the next person is going through. Another effect cyberbullying can have is severe negative impacts on mental health. Mental health meaning how someone see’s themselves, it could be their anxiety, or even effect how they start to think about someone or certain things. People who have anxiety sometimes have a hard time coping with certain events or situations. I myself have social anxiety. I get very nervous when I know I’ll have to interact with someone I don’t know. A person going through cyberbullying is probable to feel more alone, all the while someone they may or may
