The Anthony Case Casey Anthony, or as her friends would call her, a habitual liar. Casey was always known as the party type, her friend said she “would do anything to be liked” (BIO). When Casey was nineteen her parents had noticed that she had gained some weight, but when they asked Casey about it she denied it and said she was a virgin. She finally told her parents the truth, months into her pregnancy, and on August 9th 2005 Caylee Anthony was born. In 2008 little Caylee was found dead, and Casey was found innocent. Justice was not served for Caylee Anthony, her mother is guilty. In 2008 mid-June Casey had gotten into a argument with her mother Cindy that night Casey left taking Caylee with her. Things don’t add up in this case which is why I believe that Casey Anthony should have been found guilty. When Casey finally fesses up and tells her parents about Caylee’s disappearance she says that her nanny, Zenaida Fernandez Gonzalez, had kidnapped her. First off if you know who has kidnapped your daughter why have you waited a month to turn her in? How could you just give up on your child like that? Police found Zenaida Gonzalez and she proved that she had never known Caylee or Casey. Now think back, her friends have called her a habitual liar, and now they have caught her in a lie. Casey seems to be getting tangled in her own web of lies. Mid- July when they found Casey’s abandoned car, they also found chloroform in the bottom of Casey’s trunk. The police have evidence that Casey had looked up suspicious things on the internet. This made it look like it was a premeditated murder. Casey looked up things such as , neck breaking , house hold weapons, shovel, and how to make chloroform. What a coincidence that she had looked up how to make it and then found it in her trunk. Why would Casey need to know these things? For no other reason other than to use
Casey Anthony was put on trial for murder on May 24, 2011. The trial lasted six weeks, from May to July 2011. Prosecutors were seeking to give Casey Anthony the death penalty and allegedly claimed that Casey murdered her daughter so she would not have any parental responsibilities for the child. By managing chloroform and applying duct tape onto the child’s mouth, Casey Anthony murdered her own baby. Casey Anthony’s defense team tried to argue against the charges by claiming that the child had drowned on accident in the family's swimming pool on June 16, 2008. The defense contended that Casey lied about this, along with many other issues, because of a dysfunctional childhood. They claimed that she had endured sexual abuse by her father. Casey Anthony’s defense did not present any evidence however on how Caylee died, or any evidence that claimed that Casey was sexually abused as a child, but yet they still challenged every piece of the prosecution's evidence. During her trial; Casey did not testify.
On July 15, 2008, Casey Anthony reported her daughter, Caylee Anthony, missing. Casey Anthony claimed their “Zanny” kidnapped her daughter, but it was soon uncovered that they did not have a nanny to begin with. Weeks later, remains were found in a wooded area not far from their house. The forensics discovered that the remains were in fact Caylee. Not long after, Casey was arrested for child endangerment and was a suspect in the murder of her two-year old daughter. Casey claimed her daughter accidentally drowned in their swimming pool and as a result, she became panic-stricken and was unsure of what to do resulting with her “pretending” that her daughter never actually drowned. The prosecution believed Casey drugged her daughter with chloroform
The Casey Anthony trial was the main topic of many national news stations social media networks for a long time. The case followed Casey Anthony, who was charged with first degree murder for the death of her daughter, Caylee. For over two months, the trial captured the hearts of thousands of people.
On July 15, 2008, Cindy Anthony called the police saying her daughter Casey Anthony stole her car and some money. Later that same day the police received another call from the same person saying that her granddaughter Caylee Anthony had been gone for over a month. When this was heard, they knew they had a big case on their hands. The mother Casey Anthony was taken into custody and told many lies concerning the whereabouts of her daughter. The police began to investigate and found some interesting things that could very well prove Casey Anthony guilty of kidnapping and murder of her own daughter.
This case is about how Mayella Ewell dug herself a deep hole of lies that led to the death of an innocent man. Mayella Ewell lied while under oath to protect her father, Bob Ewell. Mayella wanted to take the easy way out, remove the reminders of her guilt, and lie about what happened the night of November 21st. After this trial, and after you have heard all of the evidence I will provide you, I am
Casey Anthony was born on March 19, 1986 in Warren, Ohio. Casey Anthony was one of two children of Cindy and George Anthony. “Casey was a bright, personable young girl with friends and what many thought was an ordinary American family” (Biography). Friends of Casey say that a pattern of lying began with her in high school. Casey lied to her parents about graduating just for her parents to attend the graduation ceremony and find out that she was not graduating (Biography). One of the lies Casey also told her parents was when she was nineteen years old and denied that she was pregnant when her parents confronted her. Casey claimed that she was still a virgin. Casey Anthony was nineteen years old when she gave birth to her daughter Caylee Anthony. On June 16, 2008 was the last time Caylee was reportedly seen alive. 31 days later Casey’s mother, Cindy Anthony reports to the police that her granddaughter is missing. On July 16, 2008 Casey is arrested for child neglect. On October 14, 2008 Casey is the primary suspect of the death
Document D analysis • 1. agree with acquittal- Jose Baez, Joe Adamson….disagree- Angela Wright, Janine Gonzalez, Lawson Lamar • 2. Because the body of Caylee Anthony was found months after she had died, it was impossible to tell exactly how she died. These facts made the prosecution’s case of proving guilt much more difficult. On August 5, The State Attorney's Office officially filed formal charges against Casey Anthony for one felony count of child neglect. After two months of being in and out of jail, for both case-related reasons, and other charges unrelated to her missing daughter, a Florida grand jury officially indicted Casey Anthony on charges of first degree murder, aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter of a child, and finally four counts of providing false information to law enforcement officers (Anthony Indictment, 2008). At this point, all charges of child neglect were dropped against Casey due to the belief that Caylee Anthony was presumably dead. Casey Anthony officially plead not guilty to all charges on October 28. For two months following the indictment, Florida’s state Assistant State Attorneys built their case against Anthony. However, on December 11, 2008, the investigation into the disappearance of Caylee’s disappearance changed as officers discovered skeletal remains in the woods behind Cindy and George Anthony's house (CNN Library, 2014). Pieces of duct tape were found on the skull, and hanging from strands of hair and tissue still left on the skull. Eight days later, on December 19, medical examiner Dr. Jan Garavaglia confirmed that the remains found were the remains of Caylee Anthony. Her death was ruled a homicide, but ultimately Garavaglia labeled the cause of death unknown (Office of the Medical Examiner,
The problem is that Casey was living the life of a typical 22 year old that does not have the responsibility of being a mother. She was dancing at local nightclubs, having sex with multiple boyfriends, drinking, and hanging out with her friends. She did not want to be a mother because she would not have the freedom to go to local nightclubs or hang out with her friends. The demands of parenthood interfered with her ability to live freely, and that is why she made the conscious decision to murder
In addition, according to the interviews collected by NBC news Lawson Lamar, Florida state attorney said “We’re disappointed in the verdict today because we know the facts and we’ve put in absolutely every piece of the evidence that existed .... This is a dry-bones case. Very, very, difficult to prove. The delay in recovering little caylee’s remains worked to our considerable
Casey told detectives several lies, including that her nanny had kidnapped Caylee on June 9, and that she had been trying to find her, too frightened to alert the authorities. She was charged with first-degree murder in October 2008 and pleaded not guilty. The prosecution sought the death penalty and alleged Casey murdered her daughter to be free from parental responsibilities by administering chloroform and applying duct tape. The defense team countered that the child had drowned accidentally in the family’s swimming pool on June 16, 2008, and that George Anthony disposed of the body. The defense contended that Casey lied about these issues due to a dysfunctional upbringing, which was said to include sexual abuse by her father. On June 5, 2011, the jury found Casey not guilty of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated manslaughter of a child, but guilty of four misdemeanor counts of providing false information to a law enforcement officer. She was released on a bond of $500,000 and a Florida court overturned two of the misdemeanor convictions on January 25, 2013.
is why the case of Casey Anthony is interesting to me. She should have been proven guilty for
During the summer time of 2008 Casey Anthony was facing first degree murder charges; she also had charges for misleading statements and on aggravated child abuse all leading into the connection of little Caylee Anthony death which was her daughter. Caylee was last seen on the June 16th of 2008. In July 15th she became the subject of a missing persons report. Casey didn’t report her child missing right away she waited an entire month to file a report on her missing daughter. Investigators believe and suspect that her mother Casey used chloroform to put Caylee to sleep before she died of suffocation. Caylee had duct tape around her nose and mouth. This is when Casey gave false statements about taking her daughter to the nanny’s house.
Andrea Yates was a mother of five who lived in a Houston suburb. Andrea suffered from serve postpartum depression and psychosis which unfortunately lead her to drown all five of children in a bath tub one afternoon. Andrea was charged with capital murder and was given life in prison with the possibility of parole after 40 years. However, she filed an appeal, and her original sentence was overturned, and she was found in innocent in 2006 on reason of insanity. I’m going to explain her upbringing and her mental health influenced her to murdering her children.
After close review and careful analysis of the case of Andrea Yates and the circumstances which led to the drowning death and murder of her five children, I first would like to state my personal opinion on the conclusion of the case which was the majority consensus at the time of her trial and sentencing. She was guilty of a horrible murder and although certainly had mental problems, which is apparent by her actions that most completely rational thinking human being and mother would be incapable of committing, and expertly
