International Steel Group, Steelton, Pennsylvania The United States steel industry is currently facing an economic decline, due to an increase in foreign-produced steel imports. The cheap, foreign-subsidized imports are decreasing the demand for steel produced in America and, therefore, is causing American steel companies to financially struggle and lay off workers (Gibson & Smith, 2016). Similarly, the International Steel Group (ISG) Steelton, as stated in the case, is on a hiring freeze perhaps to reduce costs, due to financial concerns. The ISG Steelton steel plant hired six college students for the summer, perhaps to save on labor costs. According to the Department of Labor, exemptions under the Fair Labor Standards Act allow full-time students and workers under 20 to be paid less than the federal minimum wage (U.S. Department of Labor). Due to poor profitability, ISG Steelton is faced with challenge of completing tasks with limited resources and time. The six college students must load scrap metal covering an area the size of a football field by hand in two weeks, …show more content…
Before assigning teams, I would first examine the social interactions among the students and run a time trial to ensure the teams are fair. The teams would create competition and, therefore, increase productivity and efficiency. Work teams have also proven to improve speed and efficiency of completing tasks and job satisfaction (Williams, 2015). Additionally, I would create an assembly line system for the students to help reduce exhaustion and muscle fatigue. Assembly line methods are proven to increase productivity and efficiency, as well (Assembly). Before the teams began the project, I would train them, define the goal and task within a zone of indifference, and listen to their concerns, so they would feel comfortable and confident about the task at

In 1793 Anderson township was founded by Pioneers near the mouth of the Little Miami River. The original founders moved west from Green County Pennsylvania. The township expanded into farming outposts such as Forestville, Sweetwine, Fruit Hill, (which is the particular section where my house is) and Cherry Grove. Though out the 1800s, large plots of woods in the area were cleared for hardwood and riverboat fuel. The clearing of the forest led to a rise in agricultural activities in the Township. Although the township remained fairly undeveloped until the suburbanization that took place at the end of WWII, this development was due in large part to the development of i-275 and i-471 which give residents of the tristate area direct routs downtown.

I am nominating Mayor Tab Townsell, City of Conway, for the Association’s Mayor of the Year. Mayor Townsell was elected in 1999 and immediately began transforming the City of Conway. Under his leadership Conway has grown in population and industry. A new police facility was built in 2009, new first class parks and recreation venues were constructed, high tech companies are locating in Conway and shopping centers are continuously being built. This growth, under his leadership, has propelled Conway to the one of the top cities for recreation and shopping venues. Throughout my time as police chief, Mayor Townsell has encouraged and supported me in my educational and professional growth. He recognizes the importance of police chiefs being involved

One of the more important skills students will learn outside the classroom is teamwork. This quality can not be taught it must be learned by experience. Members will be on teams to compete in competitions. Students must learn the limits and strengths of their team member if they wish to succeed. This skill prepares students for the team work assignments which will be required in classes, as well as in everyday
Teams are more than just groups of people assembled in the same area, they are a collection of individuals dedicated to a common purpose and with a series of detailed performance targets, working together with complementary skills. Teams of people are encountered in various scenarios, not just in the workplace, but also throughout life, such as sports, associations, charities and voluntary services.
Teams have become very common and effective since they have proven to be effective in areas as cost reduction, developing new and innovative products, and improving quality (Effective Human relation, 2008). Team development is supported, in fact, required by almost all managements today, but still it may take quite a long time for the members to learn the task and activities and to fit themselves in the particular environment. Team work may vary as the organization or company varies. Team work involves a lot of important aspects such as relationships, cooperation, learning, leadership etc. since a team works together in
