Guthy – Renker Case Brief
Guthy – Renker an infomercial studio which has emerged into direct response marketing which has discovered and developed different award winning products. Most of the function - product design, manufacturing, media, call centers, fulfillment, shipping, customer service – are outsourced. Whenever there is need of information Guthy – Renker be contingent on their IT department to gather data and produce report. To overcome this difficulty and to reduce the manual effort they have come up with its first formal Business Intelligence project. The company 's initial model of business intelligence used a FoxPro based database management system which had several issues with the maintenance and update of the data and was also not able to scale up with the growth of the business. With expertise from Trinus Corporation, Steve Johnson (Vice President of Information Technology) and Manish Gupta (Director of Information technology) rolled out new BI project. Some of the major changes to the company were the standardization of data across the enterprise and made data available to all the level business users with ease. They also made sure that the reports are generated even for the one who got no technical expertise. According to Joseph, W., Clark & Omar, A., El Sawy. (2010), “BI capabilities are often described in terms of key performance indicators, or KPIs” (p. 15).
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are used to evaluate tangible performance of an organization.
Decision making and communication are at the center of business success and efficient business analytics would only be effective through the use of proper information systems and that are up to date with current trends as well as optimizing on the available channels.
The current process for CTC to acquire BI is a broken system. Much of the information derived, from the current data in the warehouse, was done by FRAG, individual user groups and hired business analysts who extracted data and created reports. This was creating a serious misallocation of resources and responsibilities throughout the company. Shadow groups, created to complete some of the required BI tasks, were not only less efficient than an organized strategy, but were also a security risk to CTC. With small groups taking over the responsibility of creating BI, the
My family has gone on many vacations, but the vacation to Cancun over Thanksgiving is the one I will always remember. My grandma took our whole family on a vacation to Cancun. There were many interesting events that took place on this trip that I will always remember. Every morning waking up to the amazing view of the ocean with the waves roaring to shore. We would spend our days hanging out by the pool and riding the massive waves at the beach. Playing basketball in the pool with the family is a circus trying to score.
Globalisation has led to many changes in the international marketing and global advertising industry. Many international companies have projects spanning a variety of nationalities, involving great geographical distances and a range of time zones. In this scenario, companies are forced to make virtual teams - which are comprised of members who are located in more than one physical location (Peters and Manz, 2007). This virtual team trait has fostered extensive use of a variety of forms of computer-mediated communication that enable geographically dispersed members to coordinate their individual effort and inputs (Attaran, 2002). In addition, commitment to a virtual team goal may be further complicated by the single or coherent line of

This paper will give you a glimpse of the roles and responsibilities of an executive sponsor, and how he can do more effectively. To explain it better I have cited two examples of Mobile BI and Healthcare Management BI and how each company sponsor has to carry out a set of activities to fulfill their task and lead by example.
