I am writing to you on behalf of senior Alexander Wiltz in support of his application to your university. For the last two years I have served as his college counselor. He is a solid student that continues to improve academically as he learns to balance his time between academics and athletics. His junior year was one of growth finishing the year with a 3.2, thus improving his overall average to a 3.14. Determined to continue the upward trend, he made the decision to scale back his athletic involvement to focus on his academics. His grades have been remarkable and it is shaping to be his best year academically. Alex chose to pursue electives geared towards business and plans to pursue the major in college. He spends his summers shadowing at
Famine, disease, odor, anger are all experienced while on a voyage to the new world in the seventeenth century. In Lorri Glover and Daniel Blake Smith’s The Shipwreck That Saved Jamestown, the authors’ chronicle the struggles and adventures of the Virginia Company in England. When reading this novel, the main points that stood out most to me was that colonization of America presented a lucrative enterprise and companies will go to great extremes to access the available wealth. The authors of The Shipwreck That Saved Jamestown changed my view on early American colonization in regards to the interactions between natives and Europeans, the abuse of religion, and the harsh conditions settlers endured.
I am writing this letter for Ms. Tierney D. Williams who is applying to Occupational Therapy Programs. The student will apply to more than one OT Program. I have only known the applicant for approximately two years. Ms. Williams is a resourceful, emotionally stable, and innovative person. She works well in a group or individual setting. Ms. Williams enthusiastically participated in classroom exercises and discussions. The student was enrolled in two classes that I teach, HLSC 4300-Epidemiology (earned “A” grade) and HCAP 2011-Writing Lab (earned “P” grade).
Drew Kressler is a hardworking and confident young man who has experienced great success both academically at his school, and as a leader among his peers and within his community. I feel he would be a perfect candidate for your scholarship and it is with pleasure that I submit this letter of recommendation on his behalf.
Please let this letter serve as recommendation for an extremely gifted young lady. It has been my extreme pleasure to have known Kim Renoj now for the better part of 2 years. Kim has been in my athletic training program for the past 2 years. She has been an extremely hard working and valuable asset to my team. To be an athletic trainer requires a lot of long hours, dedication, all while having a great attitude in sometimes extreme weather situations. For example arriving at the football field house at 5:30 am an hour before everyone else does and starting to tend to our athletes as they arrive. Also having to set up the field and cover football practices in 100+ degree Fahrenheit weather while the rest of her classmates still have 3 weeks left of summer is not easy. Also covering a playoff game and being alert in 30 degree weather takes some mental toughness. All these things require an extremely positive attitude and thick skin. As athletic trainers, we are definitely behind the scenes, and we do not always get recognized. To continue to do your job at a high level day in and day out while getting
I am writing to you in support of Gregory Paddock and his pursuit to attend Central Michigan University for the Master of Arts in Counseling Degree. I have known Greg for almost three years, both as a previous significant other and now a personal friend. As a current student within the counseling program myself, I highly recommend that he be given the opportunity to attend your university within this program as well.
Thank you for taking the time to review my application for the Stanley Linton Scholarship. I am a senior at UW Oshkosh and have been involved in many areas of music on campus, including starting the a cappella group in 2012. Over the past 3 and a half years at UW Oshkosh I have been a choral & general music education major and have developed skills and philosophies that have shaped my goals and aspirations in life.
I am a good student, capable of reaching my objective at UF. Additionally, I believe that I possess traits necessary to help me prevail and complete the goal of becoming an Electrical Engineer. One of my best qualities, I feel, is the determination to complete the task; so far, whenever I have been tested, I have risen to the occasion. Last year I took a class that challenged me out of my comfort zone, yet it was the most rewarding. I know that UF will offer me the same endeavor to succeed in my aspirations. I am looking forward to joining the UF community and I hope to contribute to the Gator
Hello! As you know, the Lilly Endowment Scholarship is approaching quickly and I am very excited to pursue my upper education. I am writing this letter to support Latrise McAfee-Franklin’s application to the Master of Arts in School Psychology program at Appalachian State University. Ms. McAfee-Franklin was enrolled in my Adolescence course during the fall 2016 semester and is currently enrolled in my Research Methods and Statistics II and Special Topics courses. Over the course of this academic year, I observed Latrise to be a hard-working and bright student. She is enthusiastic, mature, and highly motivated to achieve her educational goals. As a result, I determined her major strengths to be her level of maturity and intrinsic motivation. I believe her maturity, and motivation, work in tandem to help her overcome obstacles she may encounter on the way to accomplishing
My first year at the University of Alabama has been a great experience. I am majoring in Chemistry with a current GPA over 3.9. My ultimate goal is to use this degree and the knowledge I obtain to become accepted into medical school. By awarding me the Steven V. Mitchell #2 Crimson Scholarship, you have greatly lightened the financial burden on my family. This scholarship has allowed me to focus my efforts on studying and being involved at the university. During my career at SUNY Orange, I have grown by leaps and bounds. I have mastered my short comings, earned a 3.5 GPA, made the Dean’s list three semesters and running, earned the Peter Albergani Inspirational Scholarship, and I was selected to attend the Exploring Transfer Program at Vassar College. SUNY Orange has opened many doors for me, doors I did not even know existed. I was not sure that I wanted to attempt to get my Bachelor’s degree, seeing as just getting my Associates degree was more than I ever imagined I would accomplish. That all changed when I was given the opportunity to experience what it would be like to attempt learning at a four year institution.
My freshman year at Texas State University was highlighted by making the Dean’s List, receiving the Outstanding Freshman Award, and getting a Resident Assistant position that I am currently fulfilling as I apply to the University of Texas at Austin. Everything I have ever done is tied in with my lifelong goal of being employed by the elite group of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and it all starts at the University of Texas. I have never wanted anything more in my life than to attend this prestigious university where I feel confident that I will be challenged both academically and culturally. I can attest that I will exhibit fidelity, bravery, and integrity inside and outside of the classroom. I know my commitment to academic achievements will go a long way in helping me achieve my ultimate goal, and that is attending UT and representing the Latino population through a strong and steadfast academic commitment to success. I am prepared to overcome any hardships and obstacles that I may encounter.
Author, Kate Linthicum’s article, “A New Report Shows Just How Much Trump has Hurt Mexico’s View of the U.S.” in the Los Angeles Times, September 14, 2017, informs the reader on how Trumps presidency has weakened relations and views between the U.S and Mexico. Thus, offending Mexican citizens and Mexican political leaders. These views could have economic repercussions as well, “Just 55% of Mexicans
Marijuana has long been a schedule one drug in the United States of America. Starting in the 1930’s marijuana was demonized1 and quickly placed on the list of illegal substances in America in 1937. Many say that this demonization was a result of racism (most marijuana users at the time were Mexican and African-American) and a propaganda campaign propagated by William Randolph Hearst, who aimed to eliminate a growing threat, to the paper industry he controlled, from the hemp industry. Medicinal marijuana is currently one of the most widely debated topics in America and average Americans are learning about the beneficial uses of marijuana and the hemp crop. Twenty-three states and Washington D.C. have already approved medical marijuana and states
