HLIS’s school climate is filled with the FISH philosophy initiative. There continues to be room for growth and change with the personal accountability of each individual.
The overall vision of our school is student achievement. Mrs. King follows the Fish philosophy by being present. Mary Jane Ramirez had a great reputation as a “can-do” supervisor (Lundin, Pual, &Christensen,
Walker-Davidson announced, “I am thrilled to serve the district and the community in this new capacity. For the past four years I have served as the ABC district middle school principal and I feel that has provided me with a great foundation for moving forward. I am excited to work with the administrative team and staff in order to continue the academic growth within our school district. It is my personal goal to increase the graduation rate, test scores, and the availability of career readiness programs, as well as obtaining and training expert staff members.” Dr. Walker-Davidson went on to explain her mission for the school district to be: success driven, education focused, and student centered. Last year, at Kingsland High School’s Graduation Ceremony, Josie Hinze not only receiveed her High School Diploma, but also her Associates of Arts Degree before even attending any college or university. Fast-forward to one year later, and seven Kingsland students will be graduating high school with both their High School Diploma and AA Degree thanks to the collaboration of Riverland Community College and Kingsland High School for allowing high school students to take college-level courses in high school and receive college credit for them. Not only that, but there are several others who will be graduating Kingsland High School with transferrable college credit so their first few semesters might
Herndon High School has embraced the following mission statement, “All Hornets Are Capable of Success, No Exceptions!” Herndon became a Kids At Hope school. Herndon encourages students to believe in their individual potential and challenge themselves to define success. They understand the importance of finding hope in the face of adversity. Students when presented with challenges see the opportunity for change and growth. Last year, in the first implementation year of Kids At Hope, the HHS faculty and staff focused on creating a culture where WE BELIEVE in the success of all of our students, NO EXCEPTIONS!. The real strength of the Kids at Hope movement is the way adults interact with students and how students have come to interact with each
For the purpose of this assignment, the leader I have chosen Ms. J, the principal of a charter school in New Orleans charter school named Harriet Tubman Charter School. Ms. J was also a founder of a school network that oversees 3 elementary to 8th grade schools. Founded in 2011 the schools now serve over 1700 students in the New Orleans area. Tubman Charter school has a staff of eighty. Ms. Lauses role is to oversee eight staff members that ensure that the school produces leading results for the state as well as promising scholars that will path their way to college. As the principal of this school specifically, Ms. J has large obstacles that go beyond the walls of the school. Harriet Tubman Charter school is within a neighborhood that struggles both economically and educationally. Almost 100% of the scholars qualify for a free lunch and are black or Latino and the kindergartens scholars that arrive on the first day know only one or two letters of the alphabet. Historically before Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans on 38% of public school students graduated high school (quote). While most people see this as a place where most people see extreme challenges, Ms. J see’s it as an opportunity for change and promise.
Gulf Shores Middle School- On October, 22, 2015, the eighth grade students were taken, as a field trip, to Playhouse in the Park, to go and watch plays of Edgar Allan Poe poems for the mystery and suspense unit. The students were taken to see The Tell-Tale Heart, Ligeia, The System of Dr. Tarr and Professor Fether, The Cask of Amontillado performed by the kind people at Playhouse at the Park. They did this because they’re in the mystery and suspense unit, and they have been reading Edgar Allan Poe works, such as The Tell-Tell Heart. After the plays the students were expected to create think and answer questions about what differences were in the plays, and the original pieces of writing.
County Prep high school has always had my interest. With all it has to offer, I’ve decided to make it my high school of choice for several reasons. There are things like the extracurricular activities they offer, the amount of AP courses they have. They are also offering vocational programs and LEAP courses. County Prep gives me the resources I will need to
I have been the principal at Valley View Elementary since 2005. During my tenure as principal, Valley View Elementary earned a TEA Exemplary rating each year; earned Gold Performance Acknowledgements in all tested areas each year, including the area of attendance; met AYP each year; was consistently recognized by the Texas Business Education Coalition (TBEC), the National Center for Education Achievement “Just for the Kids,” Texas Monthly, etc. . . . Under the new system, our campus has Met Standard and has earned every distinction it qualifies for. I state this not to brag about myself, but to brag about the great people who work and have worked with me at Valley View Elementary—the people who worked hard and made those accolades possible. During my tenure, I have sought and have hired individuals who exhibit certain qualities I feel are essential to student success. Qualities that Adriana Cerda exhibits.
As an experienced and energetic teacher at Picadome Elementary for the past 17 years, I am committed to high quality education for all children despite gender, socio-economic levels, race, ethnicities, and learning capabilities. I have sought leadership opportunities including serving on the SBDM and being chairperson of both the Budget and Needs Assessment committees. I worked closely with the Picadome leadership team and other SBDM members to ensure that budget decisions were based on achievement data and would increase student learning.
NexTech High School is a public blended learning institution that services the greater Lansing area. We provide an alternative environment for our students to flourish and grow academically while providing more individualized support than can be provided at a typical public school. Our students attend classes for four hours a day, four days a week and are expected to complete coursework both at school and at home. Our schedule accommodates students who must work during school hours to help support their family, those who have faced issues at their previous public institution, and those who wish to work at an accelerated pace. Our mission is to provide the most nourishing environment for our students to realize academic success.
I strongly disagree with the decision of my school board, Dickenson County School Board, for making the decision to extend the school day an hour and a half. I believe that this decision will not help the students or staff who are affected by this decision. Extending the school day is a horrible decision because we go to school long enough as it is, also students and staff cannot do the activities after school that they enjoy. Lastly, addition to more time at school will cause students to stress more than they already do. I believe the school board should listen to the people who will be affected by this decision before a massive mistake is made.
I am writing this letter to you concerning a very critical problem that troubles James River High School. I am conversing on the wealth gap in James River.
Greetings! As a rising 8th grade student at Sun Valley Middle School in Indian Trail, I would like to describe the problems I have continued to view within the school system and provide ideas on how to fix them. First, I feel the curriculum should be altered. One could observe that a rife of the knowledge we learn in school will either be forgotten entirely later in our lives, must be relearned as a result of how long ago it was taught, or most commonly, the knowledge rattles around in our heads and lacks use.Take for example, the formula for calculating electric current. The vast majority people will not find themselves needing to calculate the wattage of an electrical appliance unless they are an engineer or electrician. Even if you were to have a job in either of those positions, you certainly would not be
Eastampton Community School is a kindergarten through 8th grade one building school with just about 600 students. In my great middle school, Wildwood Middle School of Waunakee, Wisconsin, our goal is for students to grow into people who will make the world a better place. Sixth, seventh, and eighth graders are taught a wide variety of common core classes and extra exploratories to enrich children and help them grow. We believe in the principal character traits of S.H.A.R.K., which stands for Self-Control, Humility, Acceptance, Responsibility, and Kindness. Wildwood Middle School’s motto is,” Where Everyone Belongs”, as we believe everyone should be treated with kindness and respect. Our school sports team is the Wildwood Sharks and our mascot is Sammy Shark. We believe Wildwood is a great middle school because we provide a safe and fun learning environment
Grant reveals the significance of having the element of knowing how to succeed in school has helped provide her with the skills to become school principals. School leaders need to be able to possess the skills and attributes that help them successfully navigate the school environment. Moreover, Dr. Grant openly and clearly shares with me it was in response to the negative experiences in college, “I was always able to see, oh is that what I have to do to play? Oh, okay, I can do that. Do I have to talk a certain way? Okay. I’ll play—I’ll play.” Indeed, Dr. Grant recognizes college provided her “the proving ground where I got it—I got it. By the time I left . . . I thoroughly got it.” Dr. Grant reveals, then, the skills needed to navigate the institution of schooling are acquired through the experiences in
