For my service learning project I am volunteering at the Animal General Veterinary Hospital located on route 206, in Augusta, NJ. It is right down the street from The Yetter's Diner. Some history about the Animal General Veterinary Hospital, and how it came to be is all from Jacob Tanis. Jacob Tanis owned Ideal Farms. Emery Castimore managed the farm, who is the dad of Sam Castimore. Emery Castimore along with his son Sam Castimore, and the rest of his family grew up under the influence of Ideal Farms black angus, and guernsey. Sam Castimore knew ever since he was a little kid that he loved animals. “To say the least, love for animals is in my blood.” said Sam Castimore. Sam Castimore received his doctorates degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

Under the ADA's revised regulations, our company does not discriminate against people with service animals, but in order to be able to use a service animal at the company there are rules. Even though documentation that the service animal is trained is not a necessary we will make sure that the animal is trained in the task that helps his owner with their disability.

To ensure that our project would be very successful as a group we discussed how could we make a big impact. This discussion leaded us to deciding to dedicate our service-learning project to helping Veterans and how we could help them. We establish a connection with VET HOUSE, this connection was established though Johnnie Mapples who is a veteran and was associated with VET HOUSE. We connected Mr. Willard Smith who is the coordinator for VET HOUSE, he informed us what was needed and the current numbers of people that are currently in the program. It is common for every household to own and care for animals. The love you have for your pet is the same love as a best friend. At some point veterinarians provide these animals with some kind of medical treatment. Most veterinarians now operate with some type of veterinary management software. In order to provide excellent service and interact more efficiently with clients, the veterinary office needs to run more smoothly. For that reason , there are many different types of software. This project will examine three different types of veterinary management software AVImark, IntraVet, and VetBlue.

My workplace host’s name is Dr. Steven Walz. He is a veterinarian at Westside Veterinary Clinic, Which I job shadowed on April 28th, 2017. He helps animals heal, checks on their health, grooms, and keeps animals. Dr. Walz has to make sure all the animals have functioning organs and body parts.

Vazquez visited the sanctuary and fell in love with Gordic and wanted to know if it is possible to get updates on him. I thanked her for volunteering her time and referred her to the new stories website where she can read regular updates on all of the sanctuary animals, including Gordic.

Tammy always ensures sanitary and comfortable surroundings for animals in her care, she recognizes unexpected situations and notifies supervisor and/or seniors. Tammy performs daily routine tasks with some supervision. Logs are accurate and complete. To be highly successful, Tammy should increase her knowledge of medical terminology and drug calculations. Medical notes should contain pertinent detail when examining animals with or without veterinarian. She will need to achieve 100% proficiency in all areas of her training checklist.

A veterinarian must go to school for several years before he can start his own practice.

2. A decrease of population in the area of the clinic could effect future sales

Juggling life is definitely a chore at times. However, in the end, the choices made, lessons learned, and the hard times make the good times all the better. In April of 2015, I interviewed for a job at a local veterinary clinic. After receiving a call from the manager, I bloomed with enthusiasm because she offered the position to me, One month later, I started at the Animal Medical Center of Dubois County in Jasper, Indiana. Adding this job into my already busy schedule was challenging, yet I knew it would help me with future opportunities. However, it was not until I made a mistake that I learned time management would work in favor for me.

Animal health industry is relatively unaffected by recession as health care is seen as an essential part of owning companion animals or husbandry. According to the Freedonia Group (2013), “the demand for animal health products in the U.S. is forecast to increase 3.5% annually to $12.7 billion in 2016” (Table 1). Especially, there is an elevated interest in products that have more of a natural profile to substitute controversial chemicals and additives such as antibiotics.Two main causes can be attributed to the recent increased demands in natural or nature derived products in the animal health care sector. First, more and more customers are looking to purchase products that are natural but work just as well for that particular indication and animal health corporations want to meet the demands of their consumers by providing them with effective natural products. Second, most chemical compounds of importance have been already determined and combined to manufacture a product. Also, generic components are being produced as the chemical entities fall outside of intellectual property protection.
