Carrie Bradshaw comes from a prosperous, broken family. At the age of seven, her parent’s marriage floundered and as she began to mature, she became neglectful, ignorant and isolated herself. She disliked it when people showed pity and benevolence towards her; clearly, she did not want to be sympathized. “Carrie, even if your father and I are not together anymore, we will still make time for you and spend our Sunday afternoons together as a family,” cried Carrie’s mother. “Don’t you understand? We stopped being a family the moment you and dad signed the divorce paper! Face reality mom and stop convincing yourself that we can be a family again, because that will never happen!” yelled Carrie as she slammed the door of her room. …show more content…
On the night of the party, Carrie’s mom was overloaded with work so she informed Carrie that she would be working overnight. Carrie was enlightened; instantly she grabbed her car keys and drove off to the party. As soon as Carrie entered the bar, a swarm of inebriated teenagers cuddling and playing beer pong welcomed her. She scanned the whole room in search of her friends and when she recognized Rachel, she approached the group. “Carrie! You’re here. I didn’t know you’d be able to make it,” Rachel exclaimed, with a hint of disappointment in her tone. “Yeah, well I’m here. What makes you think that? I already told you I’m coming… so I’m here. You know I stick to my words,” Carrie raised her eyebrows. “With all your family issues, we really didn’t expect you to come. We thought you’d be all stodgy so we’re just surprised to see you here,” Rachel added and displayed a sly smirk. Carrie was bewildered; she did not see that coming from her ‘supposed’ friends. Eventually, she was beginning to realize that they were never sincere and genuine to her from the

In the book LIfe As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer, Miranda the protagonist becomes a dynamic character as the story goes on from her struggles. An example from the book is “Miranda’s mom was angry at Miranda because Miranda went to leave the line to go get Dan, to grab food but Miranda’s mom did not like that because Miranda was lucky that she got food since after her they started running out of food. Miranda’s mom was only worried about their family.” A quote from the book is “Family is all that matters.

Sue Monk Kidd has introduced very complex, yet simple characters that can be easily related to by many readers of the novel. Rosaleen has a tough exterior, but truly cares for Lily Owens, as T.Ray Owens is unpleasant, and considered to be abusive toward Lily. Further on, we have Zachary Taylor, a handsome, charismatic football player while working for August in her honey house develops feelings for Lily, as there’s June Boatright with a heart of gold, yet is distrusting in regards to Lily at first. These character are just a few of the many that entail the plot, and make them relatable. Although, like I said Sue Monk Kidd has developed many character that we can relate to, I believe I relate to Lily Owens the most in “The Secret Life of Bees.”

In one of the scenes in the book, Cupcake says that: “I’d quit talking to Daddy and Jr. because all we did was argue: they fussed about how I was f-----g my life, and I wanted to know if they had any money I could borrow. In my mind, unless they had money to give, we had nothing to talk about,” (326). The passage fits into the novel because it exemplifies the narrators sudden change in lifestyle due to the influence of other people in her life. In addition to that, it highlights the current standing of the main character in life – as shown in the quote, she’s addicted to drugs & can’t control her addiction .This shows that people, just like Cupcake, are vulnerable to prejudice.
The author develops the characters by showing how they feel, act, and what they say. In the first chapter of the book, Blue Skin of the Sea, Aunty Pearl told Sonny, “And I loved taking care of you.” This quote explains how Aunty Pearl feels about taking care of Sonny. It shows she loves him and cares for him very much. In the second chapter, Aunty Pearl told Keo, “Your daddy is too soft Keo.” This quote shows that Uncle Harley is kindhearted. He might act different with his brother’s, but with Aunty Pearl, he’s a harmless angel. Lastly, in chapter 2, Tutu Max drove up to the house and asked Aunty Pearl, “Hoo-ie Pearl Honey, where you off to?” This shows Tutu Max is willing to ask Aunty Pearl anything, it doesn’t matter who is around because

The men that go off and face war have not changed from back then to modern day today. They not only face different battles because of new technology, yet they all still love and breathe the same way. It needs to be acknowledged that love never changes and all forms of love are constant throughout life. Love always seemed to be the safety net to our leap of faith with partners in a relationship. Having that scenario play out may seem different... love might have the outer shell of being different but overall in the end, going back to the basics.. This scene is in the intro and is Jimmy cross giving an explanation of why he has the photographs. He goes into depth of how his love is consistent with Martha. He talks about how he thinks about her all the time. He can’t get her out of his
Just like Steve jobs said “When you make a choice, you change the future.” ― Deepak Chopra I choose Steve jobs did the best because he conveyed his theme (If you persevere through hard times, you will get rewarded) the most strongest by using personal experiences and dialogue to tell us about his story This. Also he tells us how he experienced something and how he did it and how you should do it or not.
