As a freshman in high school, I had not known the significance of the name Carnegie Mellon when others mentioned that it was their dream school. Because I attended a STEM school. I heard many talk about the opportunities Carnegie Mellon could offer to individuals. This sparked my interest to research Carnegie Mellon for myself and discern if I could find myself attending such a school. What I initially noticed about Carnegie Mellon was that it was ranked really well in computer science, engineering, and drama, all fields that I did not want to pursue. Unfortunately, that diminished any depiction in my mind of Carnegie Mellon being a dream school for me. It was not until I solidified the choice for the career I intended to pursue that I came across Carnegie Mellon again. I had always been interested in the business field, but I had not heard about actuarial science until I was in high school. Being an active member of Future Business Leaders of America for a majority of high school gave me a lot of experience with different aspects of business. Although Tepper School of Business does not have a specific major in actuarial science, it can still assist me in preparing for a career as an actuary. To become an actuary, one does not necessarily have to major in actuarial science, but can major in a business and mathematics concentration. At Carnegie Mellon, there are many options that can introduce me to courses related to actuarial science. This includes pursuing a major in business administration in Tepper School of Business, or a major in either economics or statistics in the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences. For this reason I applied to both schools, which would both help me work towards becoming an
For most of high school, whether I should study business or engineering muddled my college search. I have always had the people skills of a successful salesman or businessman; however, I also understand the importance of learning a technical skill in one’s professional success. I finally chose the engineering school at Texas A&M because, among other factors, the challenge of learning the upper level math and science required to earn a degree here piqued my interest.

Not only did I find a career path at Liberty, but I also found my life's mate. We have been married for 34 year and our proudest accomplishment in life are our three children. Nathan, recently married and lives in Wisconsin. Both are clinical pharmacists in the hospital setting. Nathan published his first article for the Pharmacy Journal which started sibling riviary. Lauren, is the Production Manager for the White House Historical Association and could't wait to tell her brother that she published two articles. We also visited the White House on several occasions. Our youngest,
It wasn't Stony Brook's fault, they said and did all the right things. The media finally hopped on board, there were articles, ESPN love, and radio appearances. As much as a team tries to control the outside noise, it's never as easy as it sounds.

In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania of 1837, the first higher education institution for African Americans was founded on February 25th given the name Institute for Colored Youth (originally the African Institute). After changing its name again to Cheyney University of Pennsylvania and moving to Delaware County, Pennsylvania, it continues as the oldest predominantly African American school of higher learning. The institute was founded by Richard Humphreys, a Quaker philanthropist who donated 10,000 dollars to establish a school that would educate young African American male and females the skills needed to become more competitive in the job market (Conyers, 1990). The school taught basic subjects such as math, reading and writing, as well as agriculture and mechanics. Humphreys envisioned the institute to train people of color to become teachers who would further instruct more young men and

“Get knowledge of the spine, for this is the requisite for many diseases.” –Hippocrates, 460-377 BC. If a Greek physician could make this statement over 2300 years ago, why is it such an under-exposed theory today? As stated in Chiropractic First, written by Dr. Rondberg, a chiropractor of 35 years and founder of the “Chiropractic Journal,” Hippocrates “believed that only nature could heal and it was the physician’s duty to remove any obstruction that would prevent the body from healing” (8-9). These “physicians” are called chiropractors today, and their goal is to remove subluxations, the displacement of two or more spinal disks that causes

In the fall of 2012, I enrolled in North Hennepin Community College to pursue an Associate’s Degree in Accounting consequently awakening my thirst for learning. Majoring in accounting was an easy choice since I had a background in bookkeeping and I have always enjoyed working with numbers. My goal when I first enrolled in North Hennepin was to acquire an Associate’s Degree, and join the workforce, however, as I progressed closer to finishing my course there, I realized I wanted a Bachelors’ Degree since I enjoyed challenging myself and learning material that was critical to my career.

I had certainly heard of Carnegie Mellon before, but it was actually my interest in a different college that lead me to want to apply to Carnegie Mellon. I was in fact visiting the University of Pittsburgh, when I was simply astounded by some of the architecture of the Carnegie Mellon’s buildings. I would be walking through Oakland, and would tell my dad how much I loved that University of Pittsburgh building, only for him to inform that we are no longer on the Pitt campus but instead seeing many of Carnegie’s buildings. This may seem like an obscure reason to be interested in a school, but
