I am not where I would like to be, but I am on the right path to get to where I need be in order to achieve my goals and dreams.

I am currently a student and will eventually work my way up. I would like to further my education and potentially become a dental hygienist.

Being a dental assistant does not have as many privileges as you would get if you were a dental hygienist here are some examples the Salary for a dental assistant is $32,000-47,000 per year and their hourly wages are $15.23-23.25. A dental assisting certificate requires completion of an accredited program and passing a license exam. The education for a dental hygienist that is recommended is a four year college degree.

A dental hygienist must be licensed by the state that they practice, they must graduate from an accredited dental hygienist school and pass written and a clinical exam. A dental hygienist leads to a bachelor's degree, but an Associates is enough for practice in a private Doctors office.

You can begin all the basics; up to 50 credits at Skagit Valley College, then if you want to advance you can get more education at Bellingham technical college. This school offers an Associate in Applied Science in a Dental Hygiene program that is designed to assist students for transfer to a bachelor's program after graduation. There is also eastern Washington University located in Cheney, WA that offers a program for dental hygiene. Many other colleges in Washington have a dental hygiene program so moving is not a problem.
