The Cardiovascular system is an significant system due to the many functions that it has that are important to the body. Many parts of the body have certain stations that are effective in transferring blood, these are known as the veins, arteries, valves, the 4 chambers of the heart, the left and right atrium and the left and right ventricle. Veins return blood to the heart, two very significant veins are the Superior and Inferior vena cava veins. These veins are the most important because of the jobs they have, Inferior vena cava carries the deoxygenated blood from the lower half of the body to the right atrium which is a chamber in the heart and the superior vena cava carries the deoxygenated blood from the upper half of the body. Plaque starts to build once we’re born, in other words you’re prone to build plaque at birth. The plaque and blockages build to a point where you’re in risk of getting a myocardial infarction or a “heart attack”. When arteries close off you can get a stroke or heart attack,, a stroke is a bursted artery. Most strokes are cerebral arteries due to the size of the artery, being very small is way easier to burst than a much larger artery that takes time for a lot of plaque or blockages to build up. Cerebral strokes again are fairly common due to the size of the artery, for example, an artery in the brain can be as thin as a piece of hair which is way easier to clog and burst than an artery in your leg as large as your common pen. Platelets are a big factor in clogging, they cause blood clots, ending up in a stroke. Another reason for the different arteries to not clog as fast could be because of bone tissue repairing easily and brain cells being
