My internship is with the Geographic Information System Department of the Office of Information Technology and Communication of Prince George's County government. The OITC deals with any technology related issues in the county. The Geographic Information System Department assists all the other county agencies and some private companies in their need of Geographic services. The department is relatively small compared to the work load. In the previous years there used to be

It facilitates the tasks when I cannot find any accurate information about a place that I need to map. I would input the address in Pictometry and it gives me the location and the picture of the area. That helps me in finding whether the place is still existing or not.
Another aspect I enjoyed was the fact that I was welcomed in the department as an expert in the field. Before my internship, some friends warned me that I would mostly like be doing office clerk tasks, such as making copies, typing word documents, or even getting coffee for the entire office. But I was doing dealing with real information that would be actually used or needed by someone. Mr. Patrick once called me in a meeting two weeks after I started. He wanted me to take over a project from the county Department of Public Works, so he arranged a meeting with the head of the snowplowing route administration. He needed to have some maps corrected and updated. The maps included snowplowing routes by areas. The major problems in the map that he made were the streets labels; they were all overlapping at the intersections, and the textures used to symbolize some roads where not adequate. I also gave him some tips and additional suggestions that I can include to improve the maps quality.
The interactions that I have with my supervisors and colleagues are very positive. The relationship can almost be defined as a mentoring relationship. My supervisor is a well educated individual who has been in

The process of finding an internship was very stressful for me. I honestly had no idea where to start or even what I was interested in. It took me many weeks to do research into different facilities that had internships available. After calling tons of organizations I finally interviewed at one that felt right for me. The interview took place with Laura Crain, who I also interviewed for this essay. The internship is at the McHenry County Substance Abuse Coalition.
This internship fits within my career plan to help governments use technology better. I want to be part of how such as TechCongress, 18F, USDS, and the Presidential Innovation Fellows are redefining how technology
For my internship, I served under the Allegheny County Health Department in Pittsburgh, PA. I served as the National Health Corps Member for the Women, Infants, and Children Program as their Care Coordinator for all nine offices. Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a supplemental nutrition agency that targets pregnant and postpartum women and young children ages 5 and under who are at risk of malnutrition. My supervisor Annie Nagy along with my mentors in the office made sure I was able to receive all of the materials and resources I would need to have a complete and successful internship.
After speaking to people, I often had a time to reflect on what I heard. The product was a much greater understanding of the complexity of the American political system. I grew up thinking that that one side was right, and the other was full of irrational arguments. However, people sharing bits of their lives with me taught me that is not true. The support and opposition for every policy makes sense, and deciding which is right is far more of a value judgment than a facts-based judgment than I could have imagined. I feel less sure about what I believe politically after the internship, but again, I do not think that is a bad thing. For the first time, I know how to enter into a thought process without a bias, and able to listen to both sides. This skill is critical for any studies or career in the social sciences.
My tasks varied each day at Shady Hollow. I loved this because it meant there was always something new to learn and I did not get bored. However, for a large part of my internship I worked at the front desk of the country club. Our front desk was manned from 9:00-5:00 Tuesday through Friday. It would be the first place people see when they walk in the doors and also where the phones and emails are filtered through. I loved working at the front desk because it put me at the heart of the office. All of the managers at Shady Hollow had an open door policy, this meant I was exposed to the work they were doing while I did my own. Often they called me in to their meetings or gave me tasks to do that would help them. I greatly enjoyed this and I learned
I started my internship with the De Pere Area Chamber of Commerce in the first week of June. Beginning my internship I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had ideas about what I was going to be doing, but wasn’t sure. Whether the task was big or small I knew I wanted to contribute.

The agency where I am completing my internship is called Center for Family Services. This organization provides a wide range of services. I am working in their Family First program. This program is a substance abuse program just for mothers who must attend drug court or have an open case with the Division of Child Protection and Permanency. These women are ordered to complete a substance abuse program. This program serves a diverse cultural and ethnic population who may have experienced trauma in their life. Many times, trauma and post traumatic stress can lead to substance abuse.
The main task of my internship was to gain more experience and knowledge of our respective field. Overall, the experience proved to be both enjoyable and rewarding. During this internship I used the skills that I learned from my Medical Assistant class and used them in the real world scenarios at the hospital. Also while I there I was exposed to new experiences. Such as performing Urine test on Drug and alcohol patients. For this procedure I had to stand in the restroom with the patient's and watch them urinate into a cup. I had to stand in the restroom with the patients because in the past they try and cheat the system. For example
My internship position was at the companies head office in Gaborone .As intern it did not take me long to realize that almost all the departments needed the services of the IS department in one
I was able to be successful in this internship because I had to utilize and develop many new skills. I used my interpersonal skills such as: coping strategies; peer relationships and effective social skills; communication, problem-solving techniques, decision-making, conflict resolution, how to work in a team, where everyone depends on each other and a lot of patience. I developed many new skills such as multitasking, problem solving/decision making, and leadership qualities. I learned that I am a role model. It is important to develop a good relationship with students; however, I must keep in mind that I am expected to behave myself in a professional manner at all times. I also learned some of the important skills of a teacher such as: how to provide direct instructions, clarify content, teach skills and answer the students questions; help students identify their skills, abilities, and long term plans regarding education and personal problems.
An internship can also heighten the awareness of community issues, motivates to create opportunities, embrace new ideas, and give direction to positive change. A successful internship can provide valuable information in making decisions about the direction of future studies or employment. An internship is an opportunity to not only use and develop industry-related knowledge and skills, but also to enhance some of the skills that are transferable to any professional work setting. For some people, the internship is the first introduction to the world of work. No matter where the skills and understanding of professionalism lie, internship is a chance to develop them even further.
It has been a while since I started at the internship and I am really glad I decided to work here. I think the experience in this area is a good preview of my career and future. I am learning some important skills and finding out some things about myself and the tough skin I will need in order to stay in the area of juvenile support.
