When someone close to me developed lung cancer,I began to think differently about smoking. A friend of mine,Charlotte Delbo,smoked cigarettes,she developed lung cancer from smoking them.Now,whenever I see smokers,I feel scared for them I saw Charlotte suffer so much. Charlotte was a brave women. During World War II In France,she fought against the Nazis. But she was eventually caught,she was sent to a concentration camp as a political prisoner.The conditions in the camps were horrific,she survived .After the liberation,Charlotte smoked cigarettes. In the early 1980s,her doctors told her that she had lung cancer,they said they could not cure her because she was already too sick. Charlotte survived the Nazis,she could not survive the long term

Michaela DePrince was born in Sierra Leone when it was a war –torn country and she was orphaned at a young age. She was known as Number 27 at the orphanage, where she was told she was a “devil child” because she has vertigo a skin condition that causes her skin to appear spotted. At that same orphanage, Michaela found a picture in magazine of a ballerina in a pink tutu en pointe that caused her to see the world differently and it gave her hope to get adopted and make it to America to become a ballerina

In this article I will be talking about my hero Tracy Delponte. Tracy Delponte is an amazing person, but I’m here to talk about three things about her that really stick out about her to me and my football team. Here are three of these amazing things I will be describing about. The three reasons are quite remarkable here they are well she gets food,water,and she has something you can’t just find anywhere this is motivational spirit.

It’s just hard sometimes” (Maier). Briana DeJesus, a Puerto Rican teenager, was unfortunate to become pregnant at a young age, which had put a set back to all her future plans. DeJesus is a child of a single mother and has grown up in poverty. She believed that she had the love and support from her child’s biological father resulting in her keeping her child rather than terminating. As revealed, she often regrets her decision and wonders how her life would have been if she terminated her pregnancy, but she would not turn back the clock and had an abortion, as she loves her child.

She stated that, “There are over 27 million people are in school at this moment attending anywhere between kindergarten to high school seniors. In the last forty years, those who graduate high school with a diploma are at an all-time high. Of those 16-21 years old, 1.8 have dropped out of high school without a diploma and of those, 66% are not working. 5.1 million of those 27 million have graduated with a diploma but have yet enrolled in post-secondary institutions. Cher is has many accredited careers such as singer, author, business woman, fashion designer, model, and more. Despite leaving home at age 16 to pursue a career in singing, acting, and modeling, she had a very enjoyable, rewarding life in the limelight.

What or who is an inspiration? An inspiration is the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative. People throw around the word inspiration a lot, not knowing what or who a real inspiration is. A person who I think is a really big inspiration to me, and to the world is Michaela DePrince.

Nicole Dekonte Harrison is my name; therefore the middle name has a unique pronunciation. In addition, some people have difficulty correctly pronouncing and spelling Dekonte which does not derive from the English Language but is a West African Liberian name. What I had feared practically growing up, were the key factors that led to the judgment and originality of Dekonte that I inherited. Therefore, the prime objective in elementary, middle, and high school years was not prevailing Dekonte.

March is Women’s History Month, and so I wanted to find an article pertaining to a prominent woman supervisor. The article I found was about Valerie Grillo who is the Senior Human Resources Business Partner for American Express. She is responsible for over 5,000 employees. She has been at American Express for 12 years and has held numerous leadership roles. Perhaps her most notable role was her position as the Chief Diversity Officer. Her duties in the job included being responsible for the company’s diversity and inclusion strategies for more than 60,000 employees.

From the dirt roads of Sonora, Mexico, Agustina Campagne (Tina Campagne) became a hard working mother, who worked in the hospital day and night, scanning patients, known as my mother. Tina can never take a break. She is a hard working mom who loves and cares for her children and husband very much.

Have you ever heard of the samba dancing, Latin singer in the tutti-frutti hat? This very talented person would be Maria da Carmo Miranda da cunha, or Carmen Miranda, who succeeded her dreams of singing. Maria Emilia Miranda gave birth to Carmen on February 9, 1909 in Marco De Canaveses. After Carmen was born, her parents settled their family in Brazil, which is the home of the Portuguese immigrants. Miranda was raised in a strict Roman Catholic household. Nuns schooled her at the Santa Teresinha convent academy for girls. Her education ended at fourteen, when she had to work instead to help support her family. Carmen died at a young age of 46 on August 5, 1955, but she had still managed to advance her life before passing.

Fred Deluca was a business entrepreneur who co-founded the restaurant chain called Subway. He was born in in Brooklyn, New York on October 3, 1947. He wanted to go to college to study medicine. He was encouraged by family friend Dr. Peter Buck to make money for college. His business started in 1965 when he borrowed money to start a business so he could pay for college. He didn’t succeed at first but he kept trying and was worth 3.5 billion dollars. He died from leukemia in September, 2015.

It was the year 1839 and French painter Paul Delaroche, having witnessed the birth of photography, ostensibly declared painting deceased (Batchen 2001, 129; Mirzoeff 2009, 63). Eighty-two years later in 1921, Russian artist Alexander Rodchenko after exhibiting his triptych of the three primary colours Pure Red Colour, Pure Yellow Colour, Pure Blue Colour (1921), stated factually that he had “reduced painting to its logical conclusion” thus killing painting once more (Rfya 2002, 209). Painting suffered yet another obituary in the 1960s when Minimalist Donald Judd, a painter turned sculptor, decreed “It looks like painting is finished” (Obendorf 2009, 31). However, despite the various undertakers of the art world within the last one-hundred and eighty years endeavouring to irrefutably bury painting, painting refuses to die.
