Topic: Explanation about shaping of Canadian identity as result of involvement in international affairs between 1914- 2000
Introduction: Essentially, this paper needs to argue that until, circa, year 1931, Canada, although a autonomous coutry in its own right, did not pursue a foreign policy of its own, having been a protégé nation of Great Britain and fought under British Expeditionary Force.
However, despites odds, Canada’s contribution to World War I, World War II, Balkan Wars and even military intervention in Afghanistan, Middle East and African has been nothing short of phenomenal and Canadian leadership command, firepower and military force has only evolved from strength to stength between 1914- 2000.

During the First Great World War, Canada’s overseas military increased to four infantry divisions with over 80,000 fighting men, and gained great fighting prowess during this Great War. Canada’s military involvement and contribution during WWI could be acknowledged from simple fact that Canada lost 60,000 soldiers in various battlefronts during the First World War.

Same is the case during Second World War, with Canadian playing major role during the Battle of the Atlantic and joining Allied army in airstrikes across Germany. It is indeeed laudable that Canada, during that time, a tiny nation of just 11 million population, contributed, between 1939-1945, more than 1 million fighting men and women soliders, who served full time during war time. Nearly 43,000 Canadian soldiers lay down their lives during WWII.
However, it is in the context of erstwhile Yugoslavian military crisis that Canada was able to showcase her real military strenth. In the Balkans, nearly over 1.1 million Canadians were deployed jointly by the Canadian Army, Navy and Air Force.
