Campfire Revenge
Summary:
When a husband tossed gas on a campfire, one mother was horribly injured from the fiery inferno. She suffered burns on 40 percent of her body and face. After checking into the hospital, her husband abandoned her and her four-year-old daughter. He was unable to handle her injuries, but he did not expect her surprising revenge.
Introduction:
Not long ago, Terry and Courtney had an amazing life. They began a holiday romance while they were traveling together. Before long, they were in a committed relationship. When the couple found out that they were expected a baby, they decided to get married.
Five years later, the happy family decided to go on a camping trip. They wanted to go to the same spot where Terry had initially proposed to Courtney after finding out that they were pregnant. The family was excited to return to the wilderness spot where their dreams and life started together.

At that point, Courtney's life could not get any better. She was madly in love with her husband, and they had a perfect child together. It seemed like their future was bright. The years stretching before them seemed filled with love and hope. Their goal was to be together forever and retire to a pair of rocking chairs on their front porch. Unfortunately, their big dreams were not going to come true. Because of one tragic event, the couple's life would change forever.

Courtney remembers the event like it happened yesterday. “I can smell the fire and gas. The scent of my skin burning filled my nostrils as I screamed in agony. All I could think of was my daughter and Terry. I had not control over what happened, and the pain made me pass out.”
Her fiery demise was caused by an unintentional event. Terry had decided to get rid of the gas from their camp oven by tossing it on the flames. In the darkness, he did not realize how close Courtney was to the fire. When the fire engulfed, he realized to his horror that she was covered in flames.

Jeannette bent over to give her dog a taste of the hot dog and her dress caught fire. She screamed and her mother ran in to help. Rose Mary tarnished the flames but Jeannette received hospital worthy injuries. They put her on a bed of ice while assessing her burns. “One of them squeezed my hand and told me I was going to be okay. “I know,” I said, “but if I’m not, that’s okay too.” The nurse squeezed my hand again and bit her lower lip.” (pg. 10) Even with the chaos of being rushed to the hospital Jeannette still remained calm.
In Judith Guest’s Ordinary People, several relationships between characters are developed. Some of these relationships change more than others throughout the novel, but none change less than the relationship between the members of the Jarrett family. Con and Beth have a very troubled relationship, and Cal is left in the middle.

Recently, I just finished reading Through The Fire by Shawn Grady, Shawn has served for than a decade as a firefighter and paramedic in Reno, NV, where he lives with his wife and three children. He was named “most promising writer” at the 2008 Mt. Hermon writers conference. This is his debut novel.
So Sam, Stacy, Shawn, Shelly, Shannon, Quinn, Chris and Carine were together in some permutation, every summer and on other special occasions.”4 Within this statement, Billie states that they were devoted in trying to create perfect communication between the two families. However, Christopher’s siblings’ writings said otherwise. Chris’s parents did provide opportunities for all the siblings to be together. This tragic fire demonstrated how the fire inspections and precautions were noticeably lacking safety for these workers even though “a little more than five months before the tragedy Firemen Edward F. O’Conner made a routine inspection and said the Asch Building was ‘good’ and the building was ‘fireproof’”(28). The fire finally died down with over one hundred dead bodies piled along the streets. Sunday morning “thousands of people began to form into a slowly moving parade around the city blocks”(89). The people were walking in honor of these workers and would go around trying to identify the bodies and confiscate any items the bodies my have possessed for reminiscences. On the other hand, the departments felt immediate quilt for not stepping in to fix the Asch building before, because the departments knew of the horrible safety and health precautions the Asch building had but nobody emphasized the problems. “But who was to blame?” (113). After the short recollection Teddy explains that she died. Then Teddy goes out of his way to explain what happened telling his partner about the fire and how four people died. He points out this all took place while he was away on business and that it was the smoke that got her not the flames which he insists is important.
During Carla’s wedding, the couple recites their own vows to each other. They also try to kiss after every word the preacher says. It is very humorous in and innocence type of way. Carla’s mother comes to the wedding at the end. Elizabeth now shows support for her and Daniel. Daniel has a gift to give Carla at the end. The complete marching band including color guard and majorettes from Daniel’s School plays and marches in a parade down the street in front of the car the couple is sitting in. The movie concludes with a happy ending.
The neighbour remembers that the mother informed her that her, “child smacks his cheeks on the floor” (15) yet he does not look clumsy. It is not possible for both cheeks to be hit on the floor at the same time while falling on the floor therefore the mother is lying. It represents her dishonest and how she would neglect her child to fabricate a suitable image of herself and family in front of others to protect her reputation. Not to mention, the mother veils her son’s burns by stating, “sparks burn starts in his skin” (22). Sparks cannot burn star shapes into skin and it shows the destruction of a vulnerable life. The abuse does not benefit anyone and will influence the child emotionally and physically yet she is not doing anything to support him. Moreover, things are not always the way they seem, which is proven through, “the cast that holds his small bones” (24-25). The injuries that the mother utilizes to conceal the abuse would not break his bones, but damage his skin. The mother does not give her child the proper care to heal from the abuse nor does she show concern. The description portrays his weakness and innocence because he does not deserve it yet other children are supported by their kinds mothers. His mother chooses to act as if there is everything is perfect and ignores her child and mistake of abusing
Something fell near her, crashed down from the ceiling and showered sparks and embers onto her shirt and arms. It burned, it burned so much, but she couldn't move.
