Her father got tortured, so he fled to Thetford Mines, Quebec in 1967, and the following year, Michaelle and the rest of her family joined. The story of Sam Ferris, an eleven year old boy who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma. Neuroblastoma is “a life threatening cancer that affects the nervous system (Make-A-Wish 2012).” Sam always has this passion for baseball and his wish was for a baseball field to be built in his backyard, which would allow him to play with his friends whenever he wanted. Make-A-Wish knew that this was his one true wish, so they asked help from volunteers and donors to make his wish come true. The University of Mississippi and Itawamba Community College’s ground crew decided that they would contribute to building the baseball field. Charles D. Martin is a 61-year-old teacher at the school of J.P.Knapp. He was born in 1956 in Columbia, SC to Charlotte and Ray Martin as an only child. His earliest childhood experience was in pre-school when he and another little girl threw apple cores into the toilet of there daycare and clogged it and ended up in trouble. As Charles grew up he got a job as a food writer. As a food writer, he got to write about food and get paid for it and he did this for about 10 years. As a food writer, he was nominated for three awards the James Beard Awards, though he never actually won he was happy he was nominated. Before getting aboard the DJ Angus, I did not expect anything from the cruise. I expected to go abroad, do some tests on the water and come out with some tests and a few knowledge about the Great Lakes. After the cruise had finished, I felt like I had a more understanding on why tests were done, what goes on in the Great Lakes and how different Lake Michigan is from the other bodies of water that are in Michigan, such as Grand Haven and Spring Lake. The time on the DJ Angus broadened my knowledge about why tests are performed, the results that are made during the trip. and the differences in each body of water.
